I don't know how to start but I will try, my used car that I got about year ago got water pump problem, that my extended warranty willing to cover but only certain amount, dealership named the price that was way above our and warranty budget. We start looking for a small shop that able to do it for less, and we seems find it with this shop but unfortunately that shop decided to go not so kindred/Christian way and get more money out of us. They submitted a claim to our warranty on one amount and told us totally different amount, with quite good difference in numbers. After we confronted them on it, they stand their ground and keep showing us what they submitted on their computer. Dear people our warranty has about 4.000 reviews and they have no reason lie to us, unlike you who obviously trying to take advantage of seeing make of our vehicle. We definitely will spread the story and take our business to more honest shop. read more

I recently took my Chrysler 300 here to replace the brake master cylinder. Their staff is professional & courteous and were completely transparent with the different options available for parts. I did research beforehand so I know what I was being quoted was accurate and I appreciate having say in what's installed in my car. They offer a surprisingly good warranty so the cost was completely justified AND it managed to still cost less than the other shops I visited. They even had a loaner car for me to use! This is another place I tried based on a recommendation by Seth A. (I also had a family member who called CFA for an estimate and was pleasantly surprised at the good information she was given.) I had an appointment last week for an oil change and other basic maintenance items as indicated by my car's maintenance minder. Wonderful service from the first phone call. They were very accommodating of my schedule, fitting me in for a same-day appointment. My daughter and I sat on the couch in the waiting area. We both dozed a little, not because the appointment was long, just because we were both tired and the couch was very comfortable. Thankfully they kept me aware of the necessary additional work needed on my car: a new engine air filter. My car had been driving okay but I had noticed hesitation when resuming driving after stopping for a red light or stop sign. Could it have been that FILTHY engine air filter? Probably. Because my car is now driving smoothly, like it did when I first got it. Thanks Christian Family Auto. My previous service provider (the dealership) should have checked that filter 18,000 miles ago. Next visit, I'll need my transmission fluid exchanged. It could have been done at this service but they didn't have the very specific fluid needed for my car, which was to be expected as my appointment was last minute. It wasn't urgent and I can have this done soon. Overall, my service experience at Christian Family Auto was a good one. Extra bonus points for a CLEAN bathroom. read more

I'm that guy who is always leery of mechanics and their suspicious repair recommendations, but I fully trust Christian Family Automotive. Their prices are fair compared to other independent mechanics, and so far, they have done an excellent job. What sets them apart, though, is that they always take the time to fully explain exactly what service they performed on your vehicle. Pro tip: ask them about their membership club (cannot remember what it's called). You prepay for several oil changes, tire rotations, and other services, but it saves you quite a bit over the long run. read more

Found this place through Yelp, and the 5-star reviews are right on the money. Took my car in for an oil change, and needed to check out a brake noise, as well as get a recommendation on whether or not I needed two new tires (I suspected I did). Sure enough, my tires were WAY past their lifespan, so they needed to be replaced, but after inspecting the brakes, told me that the noise was the result of a little rusting, but it wasn't anything that jeopardized the car's safety, and the brakes were fine for a while longer. They did find a list of other minor repairs the car needed, but since money's tight, we held onto those for a future visit, and just went with the new tires and the oil change for now. I never once felt pressured into any additional purchases, and really appreciated them not trying to sell me new brakes that I didn't need. The visit took a little long, at about 3.5 hours, but thankfully their waiting area is very comfortable, with free coffee for the grownups and coloring books and puzzles for the kids (I had two small children with me). Even the bathroom was spotless, with complimentary mints and toiletries, and the people behind the counter were super friendly to both me and my kids. You can tell they go the extra mile to make the place feel clean and comfortable, and that's really appreciated, given how grungy so many automotive waiting rooms tend to be. read more

Love, love the customer service, but the up charges on parts just makes this place way too expensive for me. I prefer places that sell parts at or near cost. One example, they wanted to replace one radiator hose on my domestic truck and the price of the part was $72.99. I was able to get the part on Amazon for $22 and put it in myself to also save the $100 in labor. If you have a recommendation for another mechanic, please let me know. Thanks! read more

I used Christian Family Auto for my routine maintenance and had an experience that was in line with the other reviews on this page. However, there is room for this organization to improve communication with their customers. I called to try and schedule an appointment for my next routine maintenance and state inspection, and did not receive a call back on my voicemail. That was almost two months ago. Later, I received a text from the company informing me that they were available via text for communicating, I expressed my interest (via text) to schedule an appointment and still got no response. Today, I stopped in to try and leave my car for the work to be done, only to be informed that I should make an appointment rather than dropping in. I will be using a company more committed to prompt customer communication for my automotive care needs going forward. read more

I took my truck here to get my transmission repaired. I was told that it was a total loss and paid $2,000 to have it completely rebuilt. On the day they gave it back to me it was clear that they had not finished the job. Shifting was incredibly difficult and 1st gear would sporadically pop out of gear so violently that I sprained my thumb on the gear shift. I immediately took the truck back. They "adjusted" the transmission and clutch, but the problem only got marginally better, popping out of gear 4-5 times a day as opposed to dozens. They kept telling me "Just give it a little time to get broken in." Over the next two months I took my truck back 6 times for the same problem. All totaled they had my truck in the shop for close to 24 days. When I realized they weren't going to be able to fix it, I asked for a refund. They refused despite the obvious problems with their workmanship. The truck still popped out of 1st gear several times a day, putting me in very dangerous situations when entering traffic. When I told them that I would pursue legal action, they cooked up a story about an additional part that was needed inside the transmission to fix the problem, but in order to replace it they would have to take down the transmission again, and this would cost me an additional $700! When I asked why they didn't replace this part when they originally took the transmission down and did a "total" rebuild, or the subsequent 6 times I brought the truck in for an "adjustment", they tried to tell me that this was a new issue that developed since rebuilding the transmission, even though it happened on the first day I originally picked up my truck after being told the repair was complete. Long story short: I was a poor seminary student at the time and couldn't afford an attorney and the owner/manager (a member at Elevation Church) refused to do what was right. So I limped around with a half-done transmission. Long story short, the transmission barely lasted 18K miles before it failed completely and I had to spend another $2,000 to fix it. But, the new transmission shop fixed it right the first time and never mentioned some mysterious extra part that would cost extra to fix. There have been no additional "adjustments" or hidden costs. No shrugging of the shoulders. They just did what they said they would do and fixed the problem. read more

A faith-based automotive service center sounds like a gimmick to win trust, right? Not the case at all. I took my Honda Accord to Christian Family Automotive after growing tired of incessant hawking of needless services at Crown Honda. I got an affordable oil change and some honest advice about car care, which is all I wanted in the first place. The old change (synthetic blend) is $24.99 and I was in and out in about 30 minutes on a Monday morning. Robert, the owner, gave me some good advice on how to "stagger" the needed repairs on a car with 60,000 miles so that I don't sink several hundred $$$ at one time. He also explained succintly and without jargon what maintenance repairs are needed and which ones can be delayed. I wish more car service centers would try this approach. I look forward to (well, almost) getting the transmission fluid flushed on my next visit. read more

I wish the diagnostics fee would go towards the cost of the repair, but regardless i am very happy with the service i received. Rob was great and very honest, even took video of some additional issues just in case i wanted to see. It's really great to have them so close and know that your vehicle is in great hands. This place is amazing! I love that "Christian" isn't a family name, but a way of life and the backbone of this business! We had to get some repairs done to our car. The shop called and let me know that there were additional repairs that needed to be done and would cost more. We weren't able to afford it at the time.... So they put our car back together and didn't charge us a nickel! We waited a couple of months and took out car back in and the work was done quickly with very friendly service from start to finish. Where do I start. I had originally cancelled a prior appointment and rescheduled. I called early that morning to double check my appointment as I never received a call back from them. They say on their website that when you schedule an appointment they will call you back shortly. It was the next day and someone other than the receptionist answered. I believe he was one of the mechanics, but he was extremely rude and blunt over the phone. Which was a surprise to me considering past experiences with this group AND the last person I spoke to was very upstanding and easy to communicate with. I come in on my own for the first time in years, and I am left with a wait time (it was expected and not the issue). The receptionist was nice and took care of everything really well thankfully. I was told it would be an hour or so until my vehicle was done being inspected. Thankfully it was all timed correctly, HOWEVER. I was billed EXTREMELY high! $1200 for TWO fixes! One that I've done myself in the past, and am victim of a faulty part. I was charged $180 for just the inspection too by the way. My plan wasn't to have them fix my vehicle, just to figure out what exactly was wrong with it. But what surprised me most was how I was given back my vehicle. After we were done going over the parts that would need replacing, I was told by the mechanic "good luck" as he handed me my keys back and chuckles under his breath as he walks away. Seriously? I was honestly surprised at the response. So you overcharge me and laugh me off? I don't know what kind of automotive service shop this is but I will never use them again. Rude, and way overpriced. Highway robbery at best. They can give you a straight answer about the condition of your vehicle, but they certainly won't hesitate to charge you of every penny you have. Don't waste your time. Fun fact: I found all the parts they listed (and some extras) for about 90% off what they would charge me. It's a bummer because I was under the impression that they were generally upstanding people. read more

I just had my car in at CFA. What a great place to go. I had a problem with my steering which I thought needed adjustment. Robert explained before he even looked at my car that it probably was the tires. After a test drive, the alignment was adjusted but Robert took it for a follow-up drive and then showed me where the tires were bad and what I COULD do to make it better. He also gave me a free overall look and made several suggestions to make my car run better. Some of them I can do. This is the perfect place to take your car. If it needs fixing, they can do it. Great business! I scheduled a pre-purchase inspection and they were able to accommodate my schedule just a few days in advance. The dealership did not have my car ready at the scheduled time and Kindred was extremely flexible with changing my appointment time twice and when I arrived late, they still got me right in (and it was New Years Eve). They performed a top notch thorough inspection in about 1hr and charged a competitive price of $80. They immediately texted me a detailed report of the inspection findings along with photos. They even allowed me and my family to look at the undercarriage of the car to show us their findings. I was able to make an informed decision before I decided to purchase the car. They were all professional, friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Kindred. I live out of town but if I was local, I would use their services regularly! read more

As Im sure most of us are, I hate going to mechanics. I basically already know Im gonna get screwed and told I have 20 things wrong with my car when all I need is to change my wiper blades. This place may have changed my mind. I went in for an oil change and air filter change. They actually looked over the entire car and said I didnt need an air filter change which saved me a few bucks there. They did recommend I flush out some of the transmission oil and replace it with new oil because it was extremely black. I was fine with that because even though I know nothing about cars, I know enough to take care of anything transmission related. Be ready to spend a good amount of time waiting for your car but thats only because they really look everything over and test drive the car a few times to make sure everything is good to go. Reasonable price and great explanation with anything that they found with the car. read more
