I found Matthew's Service and Repair when doing my search to get my car service. Let me say this, sometimes it takes having to drive outside of your surroundings to find great service. I live in Charlotte but drove into Stallings NC and met Stephen who is the son of the owner at the repair shop if im wrong please forgive me. I first came to the shop earlier this week but Stephen was booked up so I made an appointment to come back today (4/11/25). For me, it felt so refreshing to experience true genuine customer service. You could tell the Stephen and the rest of the staff take pride in the work that they are doing. I came in for an oil change but I needed my brakes to be checked also to determine which of my brakes I needed replaced, whether it was the front or the back brakes. Stephen was more than willing to take a look for me and he didn't charge me a diagnostic fee like most places would have done. After looking at my breaks, he took the time to explain to me what the problem was and gave me the option to stay a little longer and have them replaced even though I mainly came to get an oil change. After talking with Stephen it just made sense to get everything done at once. I decided to stay and have my breaks replaced as well as service on my rotors. Sometimes you can read a person's energy they give off and Stephen has a very chill vibe, I could tell he us a very cool and down to earth person who has made my experience as a new customer very welcoming and for these things alone, I am a new customer and this will not be my last visit. BIGGEST REGRET: I got a referral from a Facebook group. Worst car experience ever. Stephan was the most untrustworthy & was very angry dealing with warranty company that was talked about upfront. Cussed & swore while on phone. Had my car a month sitting. Pretended to be off when called in to find out about status of car. Charged me all kind of fees outside of what the warranty agreed to pay and paid, they repeatedly informed him that his charges made no sense but I was stuck paying them to get my car. Got my car and the back loud noise issue I initially took it in for was never even looked and and still existed when I picked it up. While I went to drive my car home my turn gear literally was moving back & forth as I started up the car and drove from the parking lot it still moved freely while driving turning side to side. I immediately went back inside shop to ask Stephan about it and he was acting completely as if he didnt see the problem. I had never seen a gear shift or turn knob moving while driving. Also my car drove faster than the odometer showed it was all out of whack, he didnt acknowledge that either. Took my car to another shop and they did not wnat to touch the mess Matthews auto repair created and I understood that. Also they removed one of my caps underneath the hood and never put it back on. I left with the same issues i took the car in for but only he got a check from my warranty company and myself. He acts as if hes this calm guy and tells the story about his dad and how he kept a previous mechanic but behind his office wall I witnessed alot of anger with the warranty company not agreeing with his outrageous charges. Single ladies please be careful of this place. I cant believe he ruined my car and was aware that I was making repairs on certain issues for my 16 yr old new driver child and never fixed what I brought it in for but the car runs very ragged now. I called regarding tire and bearings issues and to make an appointment. Matt kindly said to come over right then. When I arrived he came out to meet me. He said he wanted to drive my car with me so we could discuss the noises and issues I was having with my car. This was huge to sharing and explaining my concerns! He figured out what the possible causes were and said he would show me when we returned to the shop. Sure enough when we returned he showed me where the tires were causing problems and showed me where the other tires were "normal." He then took my car and checked the bearings to be thorough. He fixed a loose fuel/drain cap issue I had from a recent oil change, going above and beyond, and completely replaced all my oil with several fresh liters (on the house)- no small feat! I will say that by the standards by which a "Yelper" can be measured, this business has exceeded expectations in this instance. I can't say what he's done with others, but here is what happened to me. 1) I searched for some businesses in my general vicinity that could fix automotive air conditioning.... 2) After having done #1 I was presented with the option to request a quote 3) I requested a quote, and I think there were a couple of folks who received this quote request 4) Within 5 minutes I got a numeric quote from Matthew's Service & Repair that turned out to be what I was ultimately charged 5) Today my Buick's AC is bloody freezing - huzzah! 5) Matt took forward thinking steps to verify that my AC is not leaking refrigerant by injecting a fluorescent dye into my AC to determine if and where a leak might be 6) I have a recall visit in a month to determine whether there is a leak - 7) Right now - service is top of the range so - use him until further notice. read more

Today, I had a terrible thing happen on my way to work. My car made a very loud clunk, then clunk clunk clunk clunk and stopped dead, leaving me on the side of the highway. I got it towed to Matthew and Francisco. I thought it might be the CV joints or brakes seising up, so I told them just to look and tell me what was wrong. They found a bolt had come loose from my brakes, made the repair, and did not charge anything! Matt said he couldn't charge anything for a bolt he had in a bucket, but he absolutely could have!
