I'm deducting a star based on last night's dinner. I understand that every chef has his or her own spin, but my meal (the same exact meal I ALWAYS order) was not as satisfying as it generally is. Here's why: ^^^ Cauliflower in Gobi Manchurian was chopped too small. Asked for medium spice. While the spice level is subjective, it was nothing more than mild. ^^^ I made a point of telling our server that my chicken tika -- always perfect here -- should not be overcooked. The medium spice level I requested was ignored and yes -- the chicken was in the tandoor too long, and dry. Our nice server asked if it was okay and I said it was. It wasn't. (I didn't want to make a big deal and ask them to re-do it.) Hopefully, we're up to five stars next visit. And if not, I'll revert to my back-up dish, korma, and continue with chicken tika at my favorite restaurant in Narberth PA, where --and I hope I'm not jinxing it -- they always do it right. read more

We haven't been to India's Grill for many years. Tonight we had a wonderful dinner with two of our fellow Yelpers and their spouses. We started off with some appetizers, Cauliflower Manchurian, Samosa Chat and Chicken Pakora. All were presented beautiful with fresh ingredients and piping hot. I ordered the Chicken Hariyali Kebab which was served with lots of steaming veggies. The chicken was green and was marinated in a green herb paste. There was a red dipping sauce along with basmati rice. Very tasty and definitely not carby which was good for me. Dave had lamb Rogan Josh which was cooked in an onion herb sauce. He really enjoyed it! He also ordered garlic Naan bread to dip into the gravy. We usually go to Indian lunch buffets, but the dishes we had tonight were top quality. Don't let this small business outside appearance fool you- this restaurant is big on personality! The service is top notch! We were greeted and seated immediately. The seating could use a little updating, but we just came to eat. The server was quick and attentive and very friendly. He offered great suggestions. He also kept the drinks coming. The food was authentic and delicious. We couldn't stop eating- even after we were stuffed, lol. The pricing is reasonable and fair. Was feeling like Indian food and remembered seeing this place off 41 so stopped by. Parking is easy out front. Really enjoyed the food. Had the tandoori chicken, tandoori shrimp and onion baji. Lots of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. Love that they're labeled. Started w/the onion baji, which is essentially fried onion straws, but a gf version. They were tasty and came w/2 sauces for dipping - a mint and a tamarind as well as diced onion(?). The baji was my favorite we've had in swfl. The sauces were okay. The shrimp and chicken dishes had quite a bit of food each for what we felt was a reasonable price. Both came with white basmati rice and were very tasty. There were several other tables filled while we were there and staff was extremely attentive and pleasant. There r 2 tvs, 1 which was showing the equivalent of an Indian Hallmark movie and the other showing Indian music videos. Appreciated that what they had on the tv/music from the tv was Indian. Might have been nicer just to have Indian music playing. Would also suggest adding some bamboo dividers or something between the booths. Our booth and the one to the side of us essentially made it feel like we were all dining together so something to give a little separation would improve the feel. Although the food is quite good (prefer it over other Indian restaurants in the area), service is strong and the restaurant is clean (thank you for this), it lacks in ambiance. There's technically nothing wrong with the decor, etc, but not sure I'd put it as a date night kind of place. This has been one of the best Indian food places we have been while in Florida! The hostess is very welcoming and the servers are beyond attentive, kind, and pleasant. Wife and I had a date at this place, we ordered C35. SAAG + Garlic Naan & C40. LAMB NIHARI It was amazing. I'm not a fan of Indian food BUT THIS PLACE CHANGED MY OPINION ON IT ALL. It is some of the best food I have ever eaten. Thank you for an amazing date with the wife here and excellent experience. This place puts flavor and spices with the ingredients that make your tastebuds love it. I do NOT enjoy spicy food at all so I made sure to tell them, and they said "So mild" for the meals. Still made my nose a little bit runny but the taste was so delicious that I actually enjoyed it very very much. We will definitely be back for sure. Service from the servers were spectacular and very considerate and very polite with smiles. They have good timing for refills and do not bother you while you enjoy and munch down on the food. Their timing was just excellent. They are very professional and also the restaurant was very clean and the restroom was spotless. Very nice decorated clean atmosphere. It's a buffet, so you have some expectations walking in. However, once you put that first bite in your mouth, you know you are in some transcendent place. This place has killer Indian food. My husband and I order takeout from here at least once a month. We order different items, but typically: the Chicken Tikka Masala, Coconut Rice, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Biriyani, and the Garlic Naan Bread are all delicious. I have ZERO guilt eating from here - it's become a comfort meal. Our takeout order is always well organized and accurate. We always have a great experience. Highly recommend this restaurant. I had tried to eat here several times during the pandemic. Sometimes they were closed. Sometimes it was take out only. The buffet wasn't available. It's been a year so I thought we would try it again. For all you buffet lovers, the buffet is lunch only on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays. I did not see the cost. We ordered off the menu. Got three entrees with a nice sized bowl of Basmati rice. You would think that making rice is easy. It's not. I have had crunchy rice and mushy rice and starchy rice. This was perfectly timed. We are wimps when it comes to ordering spice level and went with level 1. Next time I am gonna kick it up a notch. read more

Clean place. Lovely people. Yummy food! Lamb Josh Rogan (med.spice): 10/10! So good and tender. You can get the lamb here. I like spicy food but I think they lower their spice levels for Americans so a medium is not very spicy. Rice was perfectly cooked. Chicken Tika Masala: would have been a 10 if we ordered the right spice level (medium). It doesn't do the plate Justice to order it at a mild. My husband doesn't like spicy and he thought that mild was too much of a heat reduction. Get this at medium! Garlic Naan: yes, get this for sure Whole Wheat Paratha: I enjoyed this but my husband preferred the naan. Both breads were good They have an amazing selection of Indian beers which we enjoyed thanks to our waiter's recommendations. I honestly cannot understand how this restaurant has received good reviews. It makes me think some people reviewing it may have never actually eaten proper Indian food before. Unfortunately, my experience here was terrible from start to finish, and I can honestly say it was the worst curry I have ever had. We ordered a few classics that are usually reliable at any Indian restaurant: the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Chicken Korma. Both were complete letdowns. The tikka masala had absolutely no flavor. It was like eating plain sauce with chunks of chicken. The korma was even worse. A proper korma should be creamy, nutty, and full of coconut flavor. This one had none of that. It did not taste like korma at all, just a bland, odd-tasting sauce that felt completely wrong. The onion bhaji, which should be crispy and full of spice, came out soggy and greasy, as if it had been sitting around before being served. Nothing about it was fresh or appetizing. On top of the poor quality, the food actually made us feel sick. Everyone at our table ended up with upset stomachs after eating here, which raises serious questions about freshness. If you have ever had real Indian food, you will recognize straight away that this is not it. Everything lacked authenticity, flavor, and care. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. There are plenty of restaurants out there that do Indian cuisine properly, and this one is not worth your time!! read more

Wow! We had a fabulous dinner at India's Grill! It's hard to find good restaurants near us with a large selection of Gluten free options also. We each tried a different dish. All were delicious but our favorite things were the onion bhaji appetizer, lamb biriyani, and the lamb madras. Oh! The plain naan and keema naan were tops! Waitstaff was attentive, polite, and helpful. They seemed to truly want us all to love our food choices and the restaurant. Mission accomplished. We WILL be back! read more

I love this place. We don't live in Ft Myers but my wife and I come to the city for business on occasion. Even during Covid they have maintained excellent service and quality. We have dined in a number of times and have also picked up orders to go...regardless...you get the same amount of food and they don't skimp on flavor. My favorite is the butter chicken, chicken tika masala, lamb Rogan Josh, chicken tandoori and the lamb vindaloo. Two people will dine in for around $50 including tip. My new favorite restaurant in fort myers! So good! Took my mother for dinner before a show at the Florida repertoire theater. She ordered mild butter chicken which she thought was one of the best dishes she's ever tasted (and she is 90 so that's a lot of dishes!). Service was excellent. Food very fresh and wonderful flavor. Do not let the location or esthetics deceive you! Whether you sit in or grab it to go, this establishment is a hidden gem & a must visit! Nothing on the menu for my first visit was one dimensional. Fun fact: check in on yelp for a free treat. The seasonings/flavor catered to every palate with options for: plain, mild, medium, or spicy. The dishes that cannot are labeled with . I enjoyed chicken tandoori, chicken tikka masala, & buttered chicken every bite you tasted the unique seasoning, the heat in addition to the spice all balanced perfectly. The price point is a steal for the portion size and delectableness of the plate. Three of us ate with two drInks each (one free from yelp check in) and it was under $80 not to mention taking half of it home! Food came out expeditiously fresh, hot, and order was accurate. Staff was attentive, professional yet kind and welcoming. Thank you Sinhl for a great experience!! My only foodie grievance is they did not thoroughly explain as the dishes came to the table nor anticipate needs such as refills or silverware. Small fixes to go from great to excellent. My parents are constantly raving about India's Grill so we had to stop in while I was visiting over the weekend. This place sure did match their excitement to take me! Food was delicious, staff was very friendly, and the orders come out quickly. For an appetizer we shared the samosas and paneer pakora. We all loved both dishes but agreed that the samosas were our favorite! The pastry shell on the outside was cooked perfectly and the seasoning in the filling was prepared just right! We all got different entrees for our main. I ordered the butter chicken, my boyfriend ordered the chicken phaal, my dad ordered the shrimp papas, and my mom ordered the shrimp kormah. Each dish offered so much flavor and again, all of the seasonings were prepared just right! If you can handle spice, I highly recommend trying the chicken phaal. We of course enjoyed some onion and garlic naan as well. Tip: Ask for mango chutney on the side. This place has the BEST mango chutney and it pairs with pretty much anything. Very kind staff who made sure I was taken care of. however, I found the lunch buffet to be fairly underwhelming. Half the buffet was plates of vegetables as seemingly weren't really anything specific to do with Indian food, such as a tray of carrots, coleslaw, etc. The pekora wasn't hot and crispy. The only curry option was fish, which was certainly not my protein of choice. Missing out on the fun stuff, like goat. And the dessert offerings were fairly underwhelming as with banana bread being the star. again not seemingly too Indian in my experience. read more
