I've enjoyed this restaurant for YEARS. And maintain it as my go to when I'm in the mood for Indian cuisine. The overall appearance does look a little run down. But the building is ages old. And in this location I'm not sure if they have a working air conditioner. It's always warm. Usually I have the buffet and it's always delicious but on one occasion I decided to sit down and order from the menu. The portions are pretty large and the two of us had to box up some leftovers. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala. Oh my goodness was it so good. I also got some Naan. (Sold separately) and a breaded chicken appetizer. They never presented a guest check so I couldn't take a picture of it. I do this to remember the names of the items I ordered. And remind me of the cost. Subsequently- I don't remember either . My first time here with a co worker after hearing so much about it. I tried everything on their lunch buffet line and it was a one of a kind flavor explosion. I didn't take notes on the names of every dish before I left, but everything was spectacular. I have never had a full setting of Indian food before. Lots of spice, flavor and different textures. I think the vegetarian option was the surefire standout of my visit. The mango lassi was also delicious and refreshing for $4.50. Service was extremely attentive and friendly. Ordered Manchurian golbi (favorite dish), chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, chicken samosas & shrimp biryani. All so flavorful, delicious & made with intention. Cal at Indias's Restaurant is incredibly knowledgeable about the dishes at the restaurant and very helpful. I love the India's Restaurant in Baton Rouge, but this one may be even better. I highly recommend the lamb/goat dishes to anyone looking to branch out from the typical butter chicken/tikka masala experience. The Rogan Josh or Vindaloo with Lamb. The flavors a rich and it's an easy way to try all the dishes for one price. Not a lot of frills there, it's a small place they bring the drink you serve yourself. A diverse menu greeted me at this place, and I took advantage of it. Looking for Christmas Day dining, I thought it appropriate even at an Indian place to order Chinese food, and they had some nice Indo-Chinese options; I got their special of okra manchurian. Breaded and fried okra, a dish any local should be familiar with, but with a sauce and added onions and herbs that delivered the fusion flavor I was looking for. My main course was a dosa, a lentil-based crepe which I got spicy with potato filling. It came with a side of soup and a coconut chutney, and was gigantic, having been split into three pieces. It was hearty, and the sides were more than enough. Wasn't the fanciest place to eat in, but it did the job. And as someone who either travels or works on many holidays, I always do appreciate those businesses that soldier on when most places are closed. read more

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this dining experience. I'd been craving Indian food for months and saw this place was highly recommended. Upon arrival, I was greeted and seated by the staff right away. The playlist of music going was so upbeat and fun. From 11-2:30 they have an affordable (13.99) lunch buffet so that's what I chose to go with. Part of the buffet was composed of dishes that sounded/ looked familiar so that's what I started with. It was all so delicious and flavorful. The other part of the buffet was made up of veg dishes that I hadn't heard of so I asked one of the gentlemen working to explain the dishes to me and he did with no hesitation. After his explanations, I asked which he suggested I try and he replied "Try them all" so I did. Everything was delicious and there were a couple that were spicy which I love. I'm a big fan of Indian food and I've tried a number of dishes at Indian Restaurants. I've even made a few at home. I tried the Ginger Chicken (Boneless chicken cooked ginger and honey sauce) which I'd never had before. It was okay but nothing special. I found it to be a little salty and God knows I'm not a fan of salty foods. This meal was to go so I can't comment much about the customer service. The guy who took my payment was nice enough. Went on Sunday after church and all that was offered was the buffet, but it was excellent! Very good price for the quality and variety of food offerings. Doesn't look like much when first arriving but don't let that deter you. My friend recommended this place to me over another Indian restaurant in town. My friends and I got a few dishes and all shared family style. Service was a bit slow but I also think that could've been our fault for getting there less than an hour before closing time. I have only ordered online so I can't speak to atmosphere. But I can tell you that I loved every single bite. I ate more than I should have because it's so good. I had two Samosa's, tandoori chicken, two pieces of Naan and rice pudding. YA-UMM!!! The Samosa's, which come with two yum sauces, are AMAZING! So warm, spiced perfectly, excellent texture, consistently and flavor. I also had the tandoori chicken! I don't eat a lot of meat but for this I would break my own rule every time. The generous pieces of chicken sit on top of some crunchy veggies. Tear off a piece of plain Naan, put some chicken, veg and a squeeze of lime on ingredients and then roll it up. So good!! Lastly the Kheer (rice pudding). I have had rice pudding now three times in my life. The first two, it was ok at best. This rice pudding however is delicious! This place is but a lil pricey in the sense that I wouldn't ve able to go everyday if I ate pht and went grocery shopping haha but man if I could I would because the portions are perfect and everything tastes so good and comes out hot and fresh! This is the best Indian restaurant I've experienced so far! I also cook Indian food at least once or twice a week, so I have a pretty decent reference point on what "good" Indian is like. First off, let me say the samosas are awesome. Perfectly fried and served with two sauces that compliment the hell out of them. It's our go-to appetizer, although I wish it came with more than two samosas on the plate! The tandoori sampler plate is what my boyfriend got for his appetizer the first time we went there. It's your typical tandoori pot chicken, shrimp, etc. It was good, but as usual with tandoori there wasn't sauce and whatnot so he didn't like it as much as he did mine--which was the bomb.com! I had the butter chicken, which was flavorful and rich. We ordered a basket of garlic naan and it was the perfect vessel for all the glorious butter chicken sauce. On our next visit, he tried the shrimp vindaloo and I got the chicken tikka masala. The vindaloo was good! Not a thick sauce like the masala, but some very fresh flavors. The chicken tikka was every bit as good as I expected it to be with its thick gravy/sauce loaded with authentic Indian spices. The chefs will happily make it as spicy or mild as you want, too. Normally I try not to go beast-mode in public and devour my entire entree like I did, but I couldn't help it. This time we ordered regular naan and there didn't seem to be much of a difference between it and the garlic naan, saved a bit on the bill though. Oh, and get the sweet tea to drink! I might be crazy, but I swear it tasted like an Indian version of classic southern sweet tea. If that doesn't make sense, just see for yourself and you'll get me. My mission now is to go there for the lunch buffet. I'll be returning here to brag on it, I'm sure. Such a big fan of India's! *Update: The lunch buffet was great! I'm not sure if they change the items every day, but when we went they had chicken tika masala out and I hurt myself eating so much of it! Paired with the fresh naan, it really doesn't get any better. **Anotber update: I've been here now many times. The food is what keeps me coming back, for sure. The service however...has unfortunately consistently been very slow every time. I really want to like this place but so much is wrong. Came to actually order for a lunch meeting in a few days as a coworker is vegetarian & this is her go to spot-decided to stay & eat. I was told to seat myself-no big deal. Buffet is "open" but 7 of the 24 items on the buffet are empty. I asked if the items were coming, & was asked by an employee which one I wanted. I told him I didn't know-this is my first time eating Indian food, are they not replacing items as they run out? ‍ About 10 minutes later, one item was refilled. The 6 food items that I tasted were ok. It seems they are short staffed (but who isn't these days) & I'm not counting that against them. I was here from ~1:10pm (buffet ends at 2:30) until 2:20pm waiting to see if food items became available to try. I do not fill that the buffet is worth the price at this time. read more
