We stopped by Indigo Indian Bistro in Shreveport to try their $16 lunch buffet. When we walked in, it was quiet -- just one table seated before us and another as we were finishing up. The restaurant looked clean, and the owner was welcoming and inviting right away. Customer service was solid from the start. Naan bread was brought to the table and our water glasses stayed filled throughout the meal -- which we always appreciate. The buffet itself had a good variety, but most of the protein options were chicken. If you're a goat fan like us, you might be slightly disappointed. Only one goat option was available -- the goat chili. We would've liked to see more variety beyond chicken-heavy dishes. Flavor-wise, the food was good overall. Nothing tasted bad. However, the biggest downside was the sauce consistency. The curry sauces were very thin -- almost watery. We're used to richer, thicker sauces that really cling to the meat and rice. Every sauce-based dish had that thinner consistency, which took away from the overall depth and texture. Atmosphere-wise, it was calm and relaxed. Clean dining area, comfortable environment, and a nice change of pace from the usual Shreveport options. One thing to note: No military discount offered. Overall -- we're glad this spot exists. It adds cultural variety to the Shreveport food scene and offers something different for your palate. Is it the best Indian food we've ever had? No. Is it horrible? Also no. Walk in the nice gentleman directed us to a table and walked away. No menu, no nothing. So go to the buffet and try all the things. Indian is mostly chicken and lamb, so if you're not adventurous with meat and texture, no worries here. Just be open to flavor! There were curries, marsalas, meatball, chili and rice. Brought fresh naan (bread) to the table and we tried each dish the buffet had to offer. Everything was good. I will go back. Stopped in for a lunch date with my mother on a Friday & restaurant was empty. Good or bad sign? lol! We were seated immediately and brought naan and were offered the buffet. Neither of us are huge fans of buffet, so be aware that lunch is buffet only. The food was good, while some dishes lacked the spices we were looking for, it was all edible. Indigo has some pretty decent Indian food. I had the Chicken Jalfrezi and Garlic Naan to go and it was made well. I didn't get a chance to try the lunch buffet, but it seems worth it to be able to try the variety of items on its menu. Shreveport doesn't have much of an ethnic food scene, but I'm glad that Indigo exists and I hope more diverse foods can come to Shreveport one day soon. read more

I am so not happy with the delivery order I received. You would think that when you pay $120.00 for a order, everything would show up. Well it didn't. Went here for dinner tonight, it's our first time here. Spacious place, warm welcoming from the staffs. Display: They should just display the utensils on the plates OR only bring it out when they sit the customers down at that table. Because the table we were at actually dusty and our forks and knives were on it. Customer service: we like it because there are small talk, and they check on you often enough to be comfortable and not overwhelmed or feel neglected. So customer service here is great. Food: food is okay, the nann (bread) is delicious and fresh. We ordered bhindi masala and chicken tikka masala. It comes with white rice and our daughter loves the rice lol, everything else taste ok. Just had lunch buffet (only option for lunch). We were the first people there. There were 10 vegetarian dishes including two types of rice and vegetable curries. We tried all the veg dishes and I have to say this is the most bland, unspicy, and tasteless Indian food I have had anywhere. Terrible. It's almost like they are afraid to add some spices to Indian food. We did get one piece of nan, which was fresh but quite doughy. Worst of all, there was no dessert with lunch buffet! Every buffet I have been to at an Indian restaurant has at least one dessert - gulab jamun or kheer. But nothing here. I tried Indigo because I've heard good things and the reviews seemed favorable. Tonight was my first night there. I tried their chicken tikka masala and regular naan bread. My total was just under $18 without a drink. I'm very familiar with Indian dishes, and enjoy cooking them myself. To me, the sauce was too thin and tasted too much like tomato. I didn't taste much spice or other seasonings. I've found that some restaurants hold back the seasonings to appeal to a larger crowd, so maybe that was it. That being said, it still wasn't bad! The chicken was very tender and the portion was hearty. The service upon walking in was slow. The dinner crowd hadn't hit yet and it seemed like only one guy was working as host and waiter, which I guess was why. After a little while, I got to meet the owner. My wife and I have been going to Indigo for lunch whenever we're in Shreveport to go shopping, for years. During the covid shutdown, Indigo was closed whenever we were in town (it had a lunch buffet, and buffets seemed to be on hold during that period), and then it was gone. We didn't realize it had moved until we ran into the owner in a supermarket parking lot and he recognized us and told us he'd moved. We like the new location more than the old one. The owner is delightful (and he always asks about our daughter, "the princess"). The food is very good. What's not to like? We don't get to Shreveport as often as we used to and don't make it to Indigo as often as we used to. We're sorry about that. When we do, go, it's a consistently good experience. read more

Ok, I've eaten here off and on since it opened. I like the manager-he's very friendly and welcoming. The buffet, however, has evolved into an array of tired dishes that has become increasingly watered down and bland. Today was the straw that broke the camels back. It was so watery that I needed a spoon to eat it. The saag just tasted like boiled spinach. I dare say I've found more flavor in a cold can of Chef Boyardee-which is sad. I can't speak for the dine in-it may still be good but for buffet, go to Indias Restaurant instead-more selection and heartier dishes. Hit this place on a Friday recently. Hardly anyone in there (WHY????) so we got right in. The owner seated us and was very friendly, making jokes with my wife and I. We were promptly served water and brought a small but delicious complimentary appetizer. We ordered a samosa appetizer, paneer naan, garlic naan, chicken Tikka Masala, and Rogan Josh lamb. It was all delicious! Samosa appetizer came with 4 average sized samosas and was served with both a sweet chutney and a spicy chutney. The naan was sort of thin and crispy but held up to dipping and folding. The chicken tikka was really good, not as creamy as some I've had which was actually nice. This is a legitimate difficult review to write because I actually love the owner, but after deliberating for several weeks, I have to write this review. The food here is amazing. Always has been. And the owner is very kind, but there's almost too much show. He's the only one who works here who has ever understood me or what I'm asking for, like a top off of my drink. But he also takes liberties with your order without explanation. For example, in the past I've placed my order with him, and he will literally say "you don't want that" and get me something else. This has off and on been the case for many years, which has been mildly grating, seeing as he also does the whole "your highness" routine when you walk in the door. But the food has always been good, so this inconsideration was quickly forgiven. The last straw was about 4 months ago when another couple joined us for dinner. We ordered two of the same appetizer so that we could share, and take some home for the kiddos. Our friends ordered another appetizer, a different appetizer. When our friends' appetizer didn't arrive, The owner told us that he'd taken it upon himself to cancel their appetizer because three appetizers was just too much food and we wouldn't enjoy our entrée. Our friends were livid because they didn't even WANT what we'd ordered-they wanted their choice appetizer. They wanted to just leave but instead, they made it through the meal. Between that travesty and the fact that when the orders got to the table they were all mixed up, the waitress never topped off our water, and no one seemed to want to bring to go containers, it just wasn't a pleasant experience, which is a shame. In closing, I want to tell the owner this: Sir, I know you mean well but before you start canceling orders or substituting judgment you may want to inquire with the table. In our circumstance, their appetizer was their appetizer, ours was ours, and you canceled what they wanted based on what you assumed, which is that we were all going to eat the two appetizers that we ordered. This was incorrect, and it not only cost you a sale, but it has now cost you customers because we're quite tired of your well-known affinity to make decisions for us. read more
