This is a late night Tex Mex staple in Shreveport known for their margaritas. Plenty of classic Mexican dishes. It gets fairly busy so even with a large parking lot, they fill up quickly. The interior is much like a large dive bar; plenty of servers but service can be spotty. The food is decent; your classic Texmex dishes. Their dishes aren't extraordinary but it's a classic spot in the area and is well received for a reason.

Tortilla soup ... I think it was vegetable but they swear it's tortilla. No tortilla shells and full of potatoes. Good either way

The food was delicious. The chicken in the enchiladas was so flavorful. The guacamole was fresh and had huge chunks of avocado. Our waiter was also very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu

The food is fabulous! Most people think Mexican food BUT, the RIBS and Crazy Javier steak are wonderful as well!! The margaritas are SUPERIOR! Get there early or be prepared to wait. I only wished they had a bigger bar area while you wait!

Food was extraordinary the service was attentive and the ambiance was peaceful and perfect! And can we talk about the PLANTS THAT HANG FROM THE CEILING AS DECORE, and how they are all real plants and thriving ! Beautiful setting delish brisket tacos!

My favorite place to eat in Shreveport and the only place I go for margaritas and Mexican food. The service there has me very spoiled ( Thanks Hannah, Bryce & Kobe) and keeps me coming back. We love celebrating family birthdays or really any special occasion there. Whether on the patio, at the bar or sitting in the main dining area, the ambiance is great!! We love their fajitas, enchiladas and the queso especially that original. One of my go to favorites is the puffy taco or the chicken nuggets; and no I'm not talking frozen nuggets, I'm talking hand cut, hand breaded delicious chicken nuggets, you won't find it on the menu but do yourself a favor and order you a 1lb.

Amazing staff and food! Carlos is the best GM. This place is a local establishment not your run of the meal corporate place.

Lots of mainly fried fish options, with a few grilled available as well. Fried Catfish! Wonderful proper crisp but light crust on a best ever thick filet light steamed with great flaky large filets. Shrimp really good and sides and gumbo are just right. Parking looked full but plenty of table space still available inside. They are known for very prompt service and food, so they apologized when it was going to take 10 minutes as they had just turned in orders for 2 parties of a dozen. Prices are quite reasonable, getting homemade quality for just about a dollar over commercial chains, with plenty of food on the plate. Unsweet tea was just brewed and better taste than you would expect... Worth the extra short drive around town to get there, and quite fine staff as well. Try it, you'll like it.

However, the overall experience was very disappointing, which is unusual for me because I have eaten here many times in the past and have never had a bad experience until now. We were seated, and our waitress initially greeted us and brought drinks for me, my daughter, and my friend. After that, service became difficult. It took a long time to find our waitress when we needed refills. Eventually, I had to get up myself, and another server from a different section was kind enough to bring our drinks. When the crawfish arrived, they were extremely small for the amount ordered (three and a half pounds). They were not hot--only warm--and very wet, almost as if they hadn't been cooked long enough. It honestly felt like we received the bottom of the barrel. By the time we received the check, I was extremely disappointed, especially considering the amount of money paid. I'm not sure what was going on that night, but this experience did not meet the standard I've come to expect from Crawdaddy's. I truly hope this was just an off night, because this visit was not the Crawdaddy's experience I've had or expected in the past.

One-Star Review - Unprofessional Conduct That Completely Ruined Our Evening…read moreThis review reflects my personal experience during a visit to The Hunter Crab. After being seated, my wife and I waited an extended period before our main order was even taken. During this time, multiple tables that arrived and were seated after us were able to order and receive their food before we were given the opportunity to place our main order, which immediately set a negative tone. Our appetizer (crab cakes) and drinks arrived in reasonable time, but the issues escalated with the main courses. My wife ordered two clusters of snow crab legs at medium spiciness. When the dish arrived, an entire claw was missing. The plate was taken back and replaced with food that was not what was originally ordered. Instead of medium, it was significantly spicier and caused discomfort when eaten. We have ordered this same dish here before and are familiar with its normal spice level. I ordered the catfish basket with Cajun fries. The fish was extremely hot when served, so I waited before eating it. When I did, it was overcooked in my opinion, rubbery in texture, and the batter separated in large chunks. My wife attempted to speak with a manager but was told no manager was on the premises. A bartender stated the meals could be remade and the bill discounted. Before that could happen, another male employee was brought to our table, and this is where the experience became unacceptable. Rather than listening or attempting to resolve the situation, this employee immediately became combative, argumentative, and dismissive. He repeatedly told my wife she was wrong about the spice level and insisted the food was correct, even after she explained it burned her mouth. His tone was confrontational and unprofessional. When he addressed me, the same behavior continued. I calmly explained the problems with my meal, and he dismissed everything I said, repeatedly insisting the food was great and implying that our experience was incorrect. At no point did he attempt to de-escalate, apologize, or show concern for the customer experience. His focus appeared to be on arguing rather than resolving the issue. Throughout this interaction, I was clearly wearing a combat veteran hat. This restaurant does offer a military discount, and it has been provided to us during prior visits. However, during this visit it was never offered or mentioned at any point, which stood out given the circumstances. At no point did we ask for free food. I stated clearly that I did not want my meal remade and simply wanted to pay and leave. As the employee continued to argue, I stood up to proceed to the register so we could exit. Despite no threats, no physical contact, and no aggressive actions on my part, law enforcement was called, which escalated the situation unnecessarily. When I began recording for my own documentation, the officers' behavior and attempts to block the phone felt intimidating to me, adding further stress. What made this especially upsetting was that the combined behavior of the employee and the officers made it feel as though we would not be allowed to leave unless we paid the full bill, despite everything that had occurred. In that moment, it felt as though disputing the charges or seeking further resolution could lead to further detention or arrest, which was extremely uncomfortable. What should have been an enjoyable date night turned into an overwhelming sense of disappointment. The lack of professionalism, absence of management, hostile employee behavior, and unnecessary escalation completely ruined our evening. We left frustrated, uncomfortable, and stressed, having paid full price with no meaningful resolution or recourse offered for the issues we experienced. This was not simply about food quality--it was about how customers were treated. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend dining here.

I attended with a local friend and he confirmed this is authentic. The experience: Friendly staff, a long restaurant with a bar section, followed by the condiments section, followed by a whole other bar somehow? I didn't poke my head back there but I found that intriguing. More on the condiments: They come with any sandwich. I probably took unfair advantage by taking enough lettuce, tomatoes, and onions to make an entire salad. I then asked for dressing, which they happily provided at no charge. And sandwiches? Do get. Delicious bread. The default bread appears to be the French - you could opt for their sourdough if you like - and it's not toasted. I love soft bread, and the po' boy was divine as a result. I loved the boudin. I loved that they have alligator sausage in multiple places on the menu. I loved everything about this place except the fact that summer means just about all of the beers were light, and I had to hunt and peck to find beers more my style. Which I did. And maybe those beers are lingering as I type this review. But BeauxJax gave me the warm, fuzzy, welcoming feeling I love in a restaurant. A great stop in Bossier. Worth a detour from Shreveport.
