They changed my RV to an "upgrade" model 3 days before we were supposed to pick it up, so refunding for any reasonable amount was impossible if I wanted to cancel. Why put me through the booking process if what I booked isn't available? The bigger RV gets far less gas mileage and is extremely detrimental to our trip because we would be more restricted on where we could park for plans we have already booked. It is NOT an upgrade. It's like booking a sports car and getting a bus. I paid for something I'm not getting. In any other business, they would refund. Booking online is very deceptive, I believe that they bet on most people to go through it not reading between all the lines, which makes it easier to enter into sketchy contracts that release all rights of the customer. I wasn't aware of the over $2,000 deposit I would have to pay at the time of picking up the vehicle. I tried to call, chat and email customer service to refund my vehicle, as it might be bigger but only adds costs to my trip due to us not being able to visit our planned destinations, having to change reservations last minute which charged penalties, and the extra gas cost. The bigger RV gets 8mpg, something I had to research, as it is not readily available on their site. The customer services is rude and unhelpful. The response time is incredibly slow. The man I talked to on the phone was clearly reading off a script and wouldn't help at all with a possible refund, even if only partial. He kept repeating the same phrases word for word. This is a trip I saved up for and now I have lost a little over $3,000. I'd rather have the vehicle be made unavailable entirely so I could get a refund. Business practices are incredibly deceptive. Thank you Indie Campers for ruining our trip and causing stress when I am supposed to be looking forward to it. We are now taking our own car and camping in a tent - something I did NOT want to do because of the heat. I will be pursuing legal avenues. I will never utilize this company or their rentals again and would strongly advise others against it. Customer service was horrendous. They are not open during their advertised business hours. It's nearly impossible to speak to an actual human, theres no contact phone numbers to call. The rental was dirty and featured several broken components including the oven, the trim was bulging and not tacked down, and the storage area underneath was in complete disrepair amongst others. My son cut his hand on the oven due to exposed sharp metal. I have reached out multiple times with these issues and concerns and have still not received a legitimate response over two weeks later. Save your time, money and sanity and do not utilize this company. I will be contacting the better business bureau if I continue to be ignored, and will escalate from there if necessary. read more

Headline: Disgusting customer service. Once they have your money, you don't exist! ​This was supposed to be our dream trip to Yellowstone, for which we paid around $4,000 for a car rental. Due to a sudden medical emergency the night before our flight from Prague to Denver, we had to miss our flight. We immediately wrote to Indie Campers about the situation. They responded that they needed a medical report before they could shift our trip, so we sent the official documents straight from the emergency room right away. We urgently needed to know if the date shift was possible because we wanted to buy new plane tickets. ​Instead of helping us, they completely ignored us. We contacted them repeatedly via chat, but they just abruptly ended the conversations without a word. After that, we called them multiple times. The lady on the phone simply brushed us off and said she would send us an email, but nothing ever arrived. ​This is not even about the money - we didn't want a refund, we only asked to shift the rental by a few days without shortening our trip or changing the original rental duration. Where did the customer service disappear to? Is your business model literally: "We already have your $4,000, so get lost"? Because that is exactly how you treated us. This cold, unprofessional behavior completely ruined our excitement. Honestly, we don't even feel like traveling with a company that treats people in a medical crisis like garbage. Worse experience ever had with a RV. Between not having a bathroom to use, a refrigerator that worked properly ( lost $$in groceries),door handle breaking off when went to exit. The running boards not attached to frame,which caused myself to fall. The trim on the upper part of RV coming loose while on road. This is just some of the nightmare. read more

If you are reading through these Google Reviews and trying to justify why you are seeing so many bad ones or maybe thinking "well, the people with positive experiences just aren't leaving any reviews", PLEASE just listen to your gut instinct here. These reviews are reflective of a shared negative experience that honestly should be cause to shut down this place down. Here are my observations to save you the trouble of witnessing them yourselves: 1. Be prepared to be held hostage here an indefinite amount of time to receive your camper. We arrived at 3:30pm to find no vans had been checked in or cleaned from the morning drop offs, and about 8 other groups were waiting ahead of us. The first group had been there since 9am waiting. We didn't leave until close to 10pm. No one will be able to tell you when you will get your camper. In fact, we didn't even understand who actually was working there for the first hour. 2. All of the camper vans are in differing levels of breakdown and taking one out on the road is playing Russian Roulette on whether it will have a major mechanical issue during your trip. We overhead a group in front of us being offered a van with a broken shower or a broken generator, what a selection! 3. Even though you paid for it, you probably won't get a cooking kit or bedding kit. If you do, I wouldn't even take it they didn't seem to have washed anything. (refer to the bed bug review on Google) 4. If you do break down or have issues, be prepared that you will be unable to contact any human for guidance- you might get a text response 6 hours later, but the answer is likely telling you to front your own money to get it fixed by a mechanic and hopefully they will reimburse you later. 5. Unlimited mileage isn't unlimited. Read the fine print or you'll be billed for lots of extra miles One positive I will give is that Ted does seem like a good man and he did help us get a full refund. However the operational and resource deficiencies and constraints from corporate office in Europe are just absolutely unacceptable. They cannot deliver on the service advertised and sold. Took four hours to get our camper one man doing everything avoid at all cost cruise America will be maybe 100$ more and the service will be so much better clean RVs better service and at least you won't receive a broken RV it's all very bad and dirty in here I regret coming in here on the first place. Please note that this business is loaning out faulty vehicles and leaving renters stranded. Avoid at all costs. Not just in Denver but across rental locations. I rented from them last week and they left us stranded in remote Wyoming. After 5 hours with "On Trip Support" which is only available via a Whatsapp with no call option, the company (the maybe real one based out of Portugal) committed to reimbursing me for a mechanic in the onw small town nearby. The readout of the check engine signal was 6 items long. There is no way they didn't know about all of these issues. Eventually the Jeep was towed from Lander, Wyoming back to Denver. I have reported this along with the transcripts of my 4 days of chats with the company to the FTC and Colorado Attorney General. To top it off, after refusing to hitch back to Denver in order to pick up a new car, the company went ahead and booked a replacement in my name anyways and then sent me an email they would charge me a late fee if I didn't come pick it up. By that time my trip had been entirely ruined and I was back home in another State. read more

Be very careful with these guys I booked a trip early May the camper was fine. The problem is the website listed a price everything seemed good check out get an email with my invoice and the cost of everything has gone up. The nightly price the prep. Charge for late drop off. I went to the store the next day one employee there (Saturday) he tried to get me to the place to get help. Couple of phone numbers . Talked to a specialist ( he spoke real good English) he was no help directed to the website to file a complaint. 20 emails later my money is just gone this is how they do business. My mom rented a camper from Indie Campers in Chicago to drive to MO, IA, and then to Colorado Springs. The AC doesnt work at all (blows hot air) and the fridge doesn't work either. She's waited days for a response about the AC and in the meantime the fridge went out. We're within 30 mins of the Denver location and she has tried contacting customer service (via WhatsApp bevause you can't actually talk to anyone and at times it takes hours/days to get a response) about switching it out or getting it fixed, and have been told for about a day they are "checking the status with the Denver location." Told us we could get it fixed by a local mechanic and get reimbursed. The mechanic who came out and did a diagnostic said it would be $2000+ to fix just the AC (not paying that) but even to get reimbursed for the $400 we spent on his time will take 10-14 business days (despite the fact that they can charge my card immediately for the cost od the rental). Also had to replace the wipe blades immediately for it to even be safe to drive in the rain. Terrible customer service and they don't even seem to care! read more

We strongly urge you not to rent from this company, at the risk of serious physical harm to yourself and your passengers. We rented an Indie Camper Solis van in Denver for a driving trip through the desert and are grateful that we escaped with our lives, literally. Because the maintenance staff failed to secure or check the fasteners on our pop top, it blasted open on the highway - we narrowly escaped a disaster when steering it off the highway. When we arrived to pick it up we found that the AC and the microwave were not included, although they were advertised with our camper and included in the contract information (do you hear bait and switch?). The windshield washer did not function and although the manager saw this he downplayed our needing it. Every window screen was slashed and the zipped screen for the door was broken - imagine being in the desert with no AC and no useable screens for sleeping. The solar panel failed on the third day despite good weather and all the food in the refrigerator had to be tossed. Because the solar electricity failed, the water pumps also failed, so no water and no flushing the toilet. The side panel that housed the receptacle for the toilet stuck and thus we could not empty the toilet. The propane stove failed on day 3. We were forced to abandon our camping plan and had to stay in hotels and eat restaurant food for almost the entire trip. We spend many hours on What'sApp chats with roadside assistance and support, but they were not helpful at all. Reaching a human is almost impossible. We provided receipts and requested a refund for the $1,200 extra expenses for spoiled food, hotels and restaurants. Indie Campers offered us $159 for our inconvenience. I finally had to go to the Denver location for help and it was a disaster. There were 4 other disgruntled customers in there and nobody could help them, they had to go through their corporate website. I finally got a hold of someone in India who was extremely rude and not being able to help either. I lost 2 days of rental and left without any help given. Stay away from this company. Ive never had such a bad experience in my life. I saw the reviews when I went to rent and i thought maybe people were being picky. Boy was I wrong. We paid $800 for a 1 night experience because our hot water was not working IN NOVEMBER IN COLORADO. therefore the black and grey tanks were subject to freezing which is BAD so we had to turn around and come home the next day. Support "helps" to a point first everything is in Portugal which i dont mind, whatever you need whats app to talk they told us just to go drive to the nearest RV repair shop, so they wanted us to take our entire family and small child to an non existent RV repair shop in the middle of the colorado rocky mountains, FRONT THE BILL if you could get serviced, and be stranded in a random place without anything including a way to get home. That is their resolution and they will stand by that resolution when you ask for a refund, We were told at the Depot we could request a refund they gave us a measly "preparation fee" back. and they are standing strong on that, it is absolutely insulting The bottom line is we rented a FULLY equipped RV with hot water, heat etc and we DID NOT GET IT. We should be refunded instead we now having to leave poor reviews. I want my money back what shouldve been 3 night in Colorado happily was 1 full night and driving back and returning the vehicle completely cleaned and tidied for them The Depot guy Andy was nice and he was well knowledgeable but thats as far as good costumer service went. Andy Smith the rep is one of the most conniving, deceptive person I have ever met. He refused to exchange a new vehicle after noticing that our rental car's license plates were passed expired. During the check-in process, we noticed that the temporary license was EXPIRED. I've seen multiple vehicle tags in their lot that were passed expired. Andy's excuse for refusal of vehicle exchange was by saying don't worry this "happens all the time, nothing happened to the last customer" and "If you get a ticket just request a reimbursement on the Indie Camper's website." I felt that his negligence toward the customers are more than a potential "ticket", it could have been a criminal - misdemeanor in some states accompanied with fine with or without a tow. He refused us an exchange of a new vehicle after we asked several times by saying there was none available. When there were vehicle issues he NEVER answered calls or text messages(s) after multiple attempts. Trust me, during the day of check-in he will swear you up and down with false assurance & meaningless small talk by saying "you can call anytime if you need any help." There were lots of issues with the vehicle, but this is not the point of this post. He has no care to loiter on the street with expired tags and refused to offer a new vehicle with valid tags meanwhile, jeopardizing the customer with law and penalty. Is this Indie camper policy to allow customer drivers with multiple cars with expired tags? Is the company going to take a criminal charge in place for the customer if they had been pulled over by police?! I don't think so! Not to mention check in took more than 2 hrs and check out took more than an hr with no one ahead of me. Either he is taking his sweet time or really is incompetent because I used Indie Campers before in another state, without - it was fast proficient & seamless. The whole experience was horrible. 1. It took us 3 hours to check in and check out. There is one worker who does everything, for many people in line. 2. The RV was a 2023 Ford Thor, 24'. The door that opens to the family area was broken from the rental time, half of the time we couldn't enter the car from that door and used the driver door. We talked to costumer support many times and received script answers instead of real support ("we are checking" was the only answer they were able to provide for the whole time of our trip). 3. The generator didn't work half of the time. We didn't get help for that either. 4. We had a bad experience with the RV, so we cut our trip and returned the RV a few days earlier. After 2 hours of waiting in line in the office, we were told we need to pay extra for miles without a refund for the nights we didnt use (we bought a package for 16 nights, returned earlier, so it was less nights calculated in the mile package). 5. Indie rented me a "4-season" camper. It snowed on the first night of the our rental and the camper pop-top sleeping area snapped shut and my two kids were in there. Luckily I was awake and was able to hear their muffled screams and free them. This could've been so bad...I feel lucky I was able to hear them and help them. The camper was no longer safe to sleep in snow, Indie told us to get hotel accommodations and they would refund them. Indie did not cover the full rental of the camper or hotel charges in the end, stating previously unspecified reimbursement policies. They never warned us about sleeping in snow and they obviously do not care about the well being of their customers. This is not a good company and these are profit driven, cold hearted people. My kids could've died and they were not willing to do what was right or what they said they would do. Do not rent from them. read more
