This was our first time using this company and vacationing like this. The pick up process was easy. The staff was great and informative. The van was really cool. We did some add-ons; kitchen set, bedding set, and canopy. The ability to travel wherever you wanted, cook for yourself right off the back of the van, sleep comfortably where we chose to (KOAs) and have all of our stuff with us at all times was such a great way to travel around a new place. Drop off was easy.and again, the staff was great. We'll miss you Perch (the name of our van). We highly recommend Escape Campervans and we will definitely be traveling like this again. I rented a van for nine nights to travel through Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Rocky Mountain National Parks. The van as modified is perfect for the solo traveler or the pair comfortable with sleeping in tight quarters, IF you have access to toilet and shower facilities (for example, when staying in a campground). You can also park overnight in rest areas in most states if you don't actually camp, and then shower at a truck stop. The back-end setup (sink, propane stove and -- most important -- the solar-powered refrigerated drawer) is brilliant. The van, with automatic transmission and power-everything, is easy to get used to (just be aware that they are not as maneuverable as your typical car, and be sure to turn off the cruise control when going up steep hills, as there is no "CVT"). The prices are highly competitive, especially compared to fully equipped (shower and toilet) campervans. (Be sure, though, to compare local taxes for each pickup location -- Utah, for example, charges an obscene 16% tax on rental cars. This is not something the company has any control over but can mean a big difference in the final cost.). We loved driving Ms "Daisy" during our 10 day escape in CO. We flew in, took the A line with less than a 5 min walk to the Campervan home. We have an 8 mo old- they had a car seat available for us, which was a huge help with packing light. Picking up was easy and we were given great advice, thorough explanation of all the vans workings, tips and even sweet spots to explore! We had an amazing trip..slept well in the comfy bed and ate like camping royality since we had a fridge & big camping stove. Dropping off was a breeze- We can't wait to do it again! This place is the BIGGEST joke ever! They will put you in a vehicle, send ya out on an adventure and then leave you stranded to figure it out, in their unreliable vehicle thousands of miles from home.... Then they will LAUGH at you when you express how upset and frustrated you are when THEIR vehicle breaks down!!! I'm in absolutely disbelief that this company lacks so much customer service and empathy for customers that they have stranded in their vehicles they advertise to "escape and go on adventures" in!! My best friend since high school and I rented a van from denver and travelled southern utah! Escape camper vans had the best customer service - they were enthusiastic, patient and generous. They made us feel comfortable and even more excited for our trip. The vans itself was PERFECT! The bed was comfortable and very easy to set up/break down each day. The kitchen in the back was also just right. We grilled each night which made camping even more enjoyable! We bought the insurance package with the most coverage to also put us at ease if anything happened to the van - which basically covered every possible damage. On Saturday June 27th we packed our entire car and prepared our two daughters (age 2 and 6) for a 14 day camping trip. We then drove to NJ to pick up our mavericks campervan. The troubles actually began even earlier as I had repeatedly emailed the contact for the NJ office to find out our pick up time and no one had responded--even right up until the day of pick up. Finally I called and was told that I could pick up at 1. I later found out that the email you gave me as a contact was someone who was in the process of resigning, so he just didn't bother to answer any of my emails. We arrived in NJ and completely filled the campervan with our things in the rain. As we are putting the girls car seat and booster seat into the van we realized that there were NO SHOULDER BELTS in the entire back seat. It is against the law for a 6 year old to sit in a seat without a shoulder belt. It also makes a booster seat completely irrelevant. We told this to Claudia, the person who was at the NJ location. She seemed defensive and not willing to admit that this was not ok. She kept saying things like "we have had many satisfied people use these vans with kids" and "I know our vehicles are legal for kids". Since we planned to cover a lot of ground in the van and it was just just a short drive to a campsite, my husband and I decided that we just couldn't put our daughter in an unsafe situation. Claudia got someone on the phone from escape campervans and she said our two options were to get our money back or take a Big Sur van that was available because of a last minute cancellation. but....we would have to pay the difference of the upgrade. Basically we were asked to pay a lot of extra money just to go on our scheduled trip even though the van that we had paid for was unsafe through no fault of our own. In the end we were forced to get our money back and completely rethink and change our plans. I was told a manager would follow up with me, which never happened. Escape campervans could have made it right by offering us a different van that had acceptable safety belts with no added cost but that didn't happen. read more

My girlfriend and I recently took a road trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone. It was a little too cold to camp, and we didn't want to splurge on hotels/AirBnB, so we decided to look into renting RV's. RV's were a big too much for what we needed, but our Escape Campervan was perfect! The bed was comfy and the kitchen had all we needed. We rented a Big Sur van for our family of five to visit Rocky Mtn Natl Park for a week and it was awesome. We loved the convenience of an easy-driving van and all the camping features that came with it. The fridge was surprisingly spacious and even though we hardly drove within the park it worked great with the solar panel. The inside bed was comfy and we were glad that it was cool at night because there weren't many windows to open and no screens. The pop up tent on the roof was perfect for my wife and daughter who are 5'6". To cramped for a 6 footer. But it had great ventilation and awesome views in the morning. We also got the tent package. The foam pads were a bit thin, highly recommend a self-inflating pad if you have one. The Denver staff were great to work with. Be sure to check out the "free stuff" in the office to round out your supplies. The two included propane canisters were perfect for a 7 day trip. Highly recommend the sunshade. read more

For our sixth trip, Bob, took us to the Eclipse, Yellowstone, Thermopolis, Devil's Tower, the Badlands, Wall Drug and Mount Rushmore, through the beautiful greenery, fragrant pine trees and everything in between. We've been traveling this trip for two weeks and have enjoyed every moment. The kitchen is easy to navigate, LOVE the new drawer refrigerator and that everything is solar powered. The staff is excellent and dedicated to making sure we have a great time. As a "frequent flyer" a bottle of champagne was tucked into our fridge before we set out. Awww. Thanks, guys. This can not only is it expensive but it has issues the a/c doesn't work the company isn't even willing to negotiate pricing or anything we payed over 1400 dollars. As a company I think it's wrong as new customers to not even negotiate the pricing. There's other van companies guys trust me just go for another one don't waste the money on this one. As of right now we will be driving for 13 days on a van that has no a/c and the company isn't doing anything about it. read more

Update: After posting my review, Will (the regional manager) called me personally to apologize for our experience with the AC. He asked what they could have done differently in the return process, refunded me the rest of the $100 for mileage, and offered a free upgrade next time we rent from them. The refund and upgrade are fantastic, but the customer service Will provided was the piece that was missing when we returned the van. I really appreciated him reaching out and making us feel heard. Kindness goes a long way :). He also explained that they did not have any notes on this van about the AC not working correctly or they would have gotten it fixed before our rental. I would still suggest potential customers check out the AC to make sure it is working properly if that is something that is important to you. Based on this customer service, we will definitely be back to Escape Campervans. Thanks Will! Overall, our experience with the van (Springtime) was alright. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was convenient. The one (big) complaint we had was the AC. The main reason we rented a van was for the comfort of an AC while sleeping and during hot spells. Tent camping gets really hot in the Colorado sun- so we opted for the van. None of the 6 vents in the back worked at all and the AC would not work when pushing on the gas if we were going over 25 mph. We brought up this issue when we returned the van and received $50 off, which is insignificant (~5%) compared to the $900 we spent in order to camp comfortably. We were happy to get some sort of reimbursement, but there was no apology or any kind of customer service to go along with it. We weren't looking for anything huge but some sort of acknowledgement that having no working AC is a pretty big bummer for that much money would have been nice. Instead, we were made to feel like we were being ridiculous for wanting a working AC, and were told that the AC turns off so the van does not overheat. If the van is constantly on the verge of overheating when it is going over 25 mph on a flat road, I think it is time to retire that one. She also didn't address the rear vents not working, even though she checked when we went out to the van with her. I just wanted to make people aware of this if having a working AC is important to you- be sure to check before you leave with the van. read more

Our first rental of "Dippy" made for the best road trip ever! We rented out of the new Denver hub--and in fact reserved before they were even officially open. Their location near the airport and transit line is great. Will is great. The van is great. We had the rooftop sleeper that my daughter loved. There is plenty of space to store your gear, but do bring soft-sided luggage. We added the 2 person tent, side table and solar shower + brought an under the bed bag for shoes to store under the seat/bed. Only draw back is heat, inside the van in a really hot climate at night when the engine is off. You need to bring a battery operated fan, or sleep with the doors open. Great staff, good campervans. Ours was a little older with 250k miles on it, but it was still a good time. It's nice traveling in a van with a table inside because you don't feel as claustrophobic as you would in a regular car rental, you can spread your legs and be comfortable. I wish we got a little newer van, and getting in touch with some of the centers was rather difficult, but overall a good experience and i would definitely recommend. The best part was that you could pull over in so many cool spots and just sleep in the van for free. read more
