This is my favorite market for fresh goat. They get it fresh three times per week. They also have excellent spiciy cooked food.

I was walking and their aroma brought me into the store/restaurant. This is a hidden gem. First, I walked in and check around. The butcher explained about their halal meat. Later I find out that was the owner's son. Then I asked what is the aroma. The courteous elderly gentlemen talked about their rice. So I ordered the rice. I got home and it was flavorful, blend with many herbs. That was years ago. Ever since, I been back from time to time for Zeddy' rice. Unless he is not there. I've been in a chai sort of mood so I stopped by here for the first time to see if they had some cardamom. The "market" portion of this place is pretty underwhelming, but the owner more than makes up for the dingy decor. He was very attentive and directed me to bulk spice area, where they had cardamom for $25/lb. ("Imported from Iran", he told me proudly.) I also picked up some cardamom tea. As my sister and I were perusing, the owner brought us a container of chicken biryani. When we looked at him in confusion, he shrugged, "When you come into my store, this is what you get." The biryani was amazing, with flavorful rice and juicy chicken on the bone. I turned around to select my tea and when I turned back, my sister had already eaten half the sample. The owner pointed out his catering menu, which looked pretty reasonable. I think it was $45-55 for a tray that feeds 10-15 people. Not bad! He also mentioned that they do all sorts of cuisine (North Indian, South Indian, Pakistani) and that a lot of the time, people just call with the kind of food they want and he makes it happen. As I checked out with my cardamom and tea, the owner also brought us a container of a milky dessert. He spent a lot of time telling us what was in it, but what I got was milk, simmered long time, carrot. It was kind of like rice pudding, but way more delicious. My entire family loved it! I will definitely come back in the future for my spice needs. My sister says she might order food from here for her next potluck. Also, the owner says he's in the process of opening a restaurant here. I look forward to coming back and getting some more of that delicious biryani. read more

We recently moved here and were looking for a Halal shop. This is located close to us. It is a small shop with some grocery items and a few fresh vegetables. Frozen meals and few drinks. There is some miscellaneous clothes. Kitchen utensils etc. The reason we loved this place is for their freshly made samosas that you can fry your self when you want too, different types of kebabs, bohlani, biryani and dahi vada. You should call to place an order before picking up. I generally call him the night before before to pick up the next day. Owners are very friendly and we enjoy chatting with them. read more

we catered an order for eid celebration at our place. when I have a party at my place then I take extra care to provide the best to my guest and on top this was Eid party so I visited this place twice and also called multiple times to make sure everything is perfect even then they screwed up the order. Guy at counter is very talkative and would have been nice if he puts energy towards better customer service than being over talkative. We ordered for beef Haleem and chicken Rashmi kebabs but they switched meat in both orders which makes them both very bad and tasteless with Haleem not being Haleem but something else which eventually went to garbage. Quantity was not sufficient as trays were not even full to what was supposed to be as we catered from many places in past. It is good that I ordered extra than guests invited otherwise it would have been a disaster. read more

We've purchased semi-prepared chicken samosas and shami kabobs (beef and chicken) that this store sells, and have been really pleased with them. They are great to have on hand for guests or weeknight meals. In terms of taste, they aren't as spicy as I would like, but this makes them great for all kinds of palates. You can always spice them up with the appropriate condiment. A couple of tips: make sure to call a day or two in advance to confirm that they'll be able to have them in stock, and call again on the day you plan to pick them up to reconfirm. Luckily we called the first time we were planning to go, and were able to find out that they were out of stock, so we didn't have to drive a long distance, only to be disappointed. Overall the samosas and shami kabobs are excellent. I do wish the store was better maintained and had a stronger selection of South Asian groceries, so I could do all of my shopping in one place. Definitely check it out if you're in the market for South Asian samosas and kabobs! read more

Halal markets may not be as common as coffee shops, so I can't expect too much here, but I was somewhat disappointed that they didn't have much in the way of prepared food. They have a nice little selection of meat, and a bunch of spices, but then more miscellaneous cook and houseware than I thought they'd have. In the area, this may be one of the better markets, but if you're willing to go a little further, I think you can find a bigger and better place. read more

The best place for marinated meat in San Jose. Amazing spices and great for grilling. Bihari chicken and spicy marinated chops are to die for. 4.99$ pound for chicken, 8/9$$ for chops and 7$ something for marination. Can call the business and they keep the marinated order ready or you can order at the place and wait ten mins more or less depending on crowd. Family run business super cool folks! read more

after eating their biryani, we got admitted to emergency coz rotten meat was used in it. This shop presents the look of a ghost house. Everything was covered with dust, bee feces, and stickiness. Me and my family got extremely disappointed and will never ever go there again. No fresh food is prepared over there and owner seems to use unhygienic utensils covered with rotten oil. read more

Stopped in here to get some medjool dates and look for some frozen halal ready made items. This place used to be called "California Halal Market" but is now under new management and called "Indo-Pak Halal Market". They sell fresh halal meat along with desi (indian and Pakistani) groceries. They also have hand made samosas and kebabs in the frozen section which was a pleasant surprise. They also cook food to go, but I didnt try any. The owner is very nice and friendly and even let me take the dates because i didnt have enough cash on me and he didnt even know me. So I will definitely be coming back to this place again soon. One I went (long drive) to get the Chicken Samosa, and he does not have them. You have to call at least day in advance to even maybe have it. Only item he had was chicken biryani. What a disapponitment , only had one chicken in each of the two containers. For the price $10 a waste .. The Decor and place is run down, so not sure why he has very few 4/5 stars .. not worth the money and effort. read more

We have managed to develop a good rapport with the owners because we have been regulars since 2 years. Their chicken kofta curry, achari chicken, mutton biryani, chicken samosa, kheer and fruit custard are my favorites. They prepare food and keep; you might find something you like. Otherwise, they accept orders. They also have a variety of Pakistani / Afghani dishes like chapli kabab, stuffed paranthas, etc. Make sure you check the expiry and looks of a stored item before purchase. Indo-Pak Halal market, which opened a few months back on the intersection of Lundy and Berryessa is amazing. They have everything you will want to find at an Indian and Pakistani grocery store. I went to pick up a few things and ended up spending over a $100. They have a meat area, which does not smell whatsoever. Having meat, you woul think that it woul get somewhat stinky but I was happy to see no such smell existed. They also have delicious bihari kabab and chicken tikka soft rolls, which they make fresh for you on the spot. Also, they have biryani over the weekend (sat and sun).
