Don't let the outside fool you -- this place is really solid! The inside was renovated and really nice. Downstairs has the dining and it's pretty intimate and cozy. Had a cool vibe. The food was solid and tasty - service was nice! If you are craving Indian food, check it out!

    Thali lunch special

I usually get take out so it was fun sitting in this time around. The interior looks very nice and it looks and smells clean. Would be a great spot for friend or business lunches. What I got: Lunch Thali Special (chicken) - 4.5* It was phenomenal and delicious. My only complaint is I wish that you had a better understanding of what you were getting. I had no idea if it would be tikka masala or a different kind of chicken dish. (I'm very happy it was tikka masala.) I don't know what the side dish or dessert were called, and it'd be fun if you were able to choose from a few different options. That said, it's a lunch special which usually means you don't have all the bells and whistles at your (the customer's) disposal. I'd definitely order it again. Mango lasso - 5* as always. Creamy and mango-y and perfect!

A true hidden gem! Kohindor Dhaba serves some of the best Indian cuisine I've had in a long time. The food is incredibly flavorful, freshly made, and offered at a very reasonable price. From the first bite, you can tell they care about authenticity and taste. We dropped by during lunchtime and were pleasantly surprised to find it not crowded, which made for a peaceful and enjoyable dining experience. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming--perfect for a casual lunch or dinner. Parking is limited, but it's free, which is a nice bonus. Definitely worth the visit if you're craving tasty Indian food without the big crowds. Highly recommend!

Veggies samosa, Chicken tikka masala and Lamb Vandalu with garlic bread at Kohinoor Dhaba in Arlington, VA

After a long fight from San Diego to the east coast and only having a complementary biscotti on American Airlines, it was nice to finally enjoy a delicious dinner at Kohinoor Dhaba an Indian Restaurant in Arlington, VA. For appetizer we had the #8 Mixed Veggies samosa it was a bit spicy and dry for me. I give it a 3.8/5. For dinner we ordered the #47 Lamb Vandalu. It was spicy but delicious sauce with right amount of spices and give it a 4/5. We also ordered the #50 Chicken tikka masala with one order of #22 Garlic Naan bread and both were OUTSTANDING and give it 5/5!! Definitely coming back for these two. The ambiance was not the fanciest but the service was great and restaurant was very clean with nice photos of temples in India. Give this place a try when in the area! Happy Yelping :)

Outstanding service and amazing food! I asked for suggestions, since I usually get Tika Masala! She recommended the Tandoori chicken, and it was amazing! Also tried the chicken Pakora! Delicious! Portions were enormous, 2 meals for me and 1 for my hubby!

If you are looking for classic, unstuffy Indian food that is phenomenal, this the place. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall. The dining room is in a basement, the tablecloths are plastic, the floor is tiled. It's not a fancy place. But the food is worth it. I got the muttar paneer which was the perfect level of spice, it had lots of flavor and was sooo creamy. I got an order of naan with it and it was freshly made. My companions got the tikka masala and lamb curry and they both raved about them. The service was very slow - it took almost 40 minutes to get our meal. It wouldn't have been a problem normally, but we were on a tight schedule, so it was a problem that it also took awhile to get our check. But I will be back, just on a day where I can afford to spend more time here.

Came here because it was walking distance from our airport hotel and open late. Excellent food! Very flavorful and prepared relatively quickly. Inside is small and had the seating been full I imagine potentially cramped. The cheese in the palak paneer was so delicious and fresh! Samosa and chicken 65 are great starters and garlic naan is 10/10.

At my roommate's recommendation, we came here from DC for dinner recently and wow was it great! The location is so nondescript that it would have been so easy to drive right by it if my roommate hadn't already been there before. The seating area is downstairs (sort of underground) and relatively spacious. The decor is nothing fancy, but my roommate did say they had recently upgraded their chairs, so maybe they are slowly investing in the space? Service was fine, but the real gem was obviously the food. The menu was extensive, so I had a hard time picking something to commit to when everything looked great! I landed on the chicken korma, which was delicious! It came with rice and we also ordered naan, which was also wonderful. The portion was generous - I ate the whole thing and rolled out of the restaurant! Prices were also very reasonable for Indian food, so I'd highly recommend this place.

I ordered takeout from Kohinoor Dhaba and all the dishes we got were tasty and hot! The takeout service was slow though. The Tikka Masala that I ordered was good but missing something, maybe the cream was too heavy. I also wish the serving size was a little larger for the price. I highly recommend Alu Paratha bread and would definitely consider trying some of their other breads another time. The bread was great for dipping into the Tikka Masala sauce.

I had been hearing about this place in Crystal City, over by the Enterprise car rentals/.Some said they had been going there for years. It has been there for 15 years. Last night we showed up. It's a two story building and the pickup driver told us upstairs is for pickup and the downstairs is for dine- in. We were warmly greeted and ushered into the dining room. So clean, lots of tables and chairs and not crowded. I ordered lamb tiki masala and the lamb was so tender. I've never had lamb so tender and the rice was perfect.... The nan was warm and tasty and never got hard like some bread does when it cools. I ordered a small Kingfisher and several water refills. My Queen had chicken Tiki Masala and it was amazing, tasteful and tender. I'm planning my next trip.

Needed a late-night bite and decided to stop by here a couple hours before closing time. There were a few others dining at the time but we were seated immediately. ATMOSPHERE: The area to pick up food is upstairs, but the dine-in area is basically in what feels like the basement of the restaurant. There were very few windows and a huge A/C unit butting into the room. FOOD: I ordered the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. The food quality was good. The tikka masala sauce was nothing out of the ordinary, and the chicken pieces were a bit dry. The garlic naan was very good, and I would recommend pairing this with any curry dish. SERVICE: Our server took our order and the food came out relatively quickly, but we were never checked-up on. Maybe this was because the dining area was on a separate floor. PRICE/VALUE: The portions of the tikka masala were reasonable for how much it cost ($13), and was enough food with the naan for one. The naan was also reasonable for price ($5). Overall if you are craving indian food this will definitely satisfy.

Two decades later, it remains an absolute powerhouse and a masterclass in culinary consistency. The Accolades Rasika's trophy case is legendary. Chef Vikram Sunderam secured a prestigious James Beard Award for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic, and the restaurant has consistently retained a top-tier spot on The Washington Post's 100 Very Best Restaurants list. It's the kind of place that effortlessly balances critical acclaim with a fiercely loyal local following, famously serving as a birthday hotspot for President Obama and a staple for D.C.'s culinary elite. The Menu While the iconic Palak Chaat gets plenty of well-deserved press, the true depth of the kitchen shines brightest in their classic entrees and customizable heat profiles. The Lamb Shank: A definitive triumph of slow-cooked execution. The meat is spectacularly tender, effortlessly falling away from the bone at the mere suggestion of a fork. Infused with a rich, aromatic blend of saffron and roasted coconut, the sauce achieves a profound depth of flavor that is both deeply comforting and complex. Saag Paneer (Malai Palak): Rasika's take on this classic elevates standard creamed spinach to an art form. The spinach retains a vibrant, fresh green character, expertly laced with garlic, onions, and green chilies. The paneer cubes are beautifully delicate, acting as the perfect velvety vehicle for the impeccably spiced greens.
