You have to enter the Hyatt Centric to get to this real gem of a restaurant. The interior is a mix of styles which I found to be comfortable without being heavy handed. My server was personable and helpful in recommendations. I pondered lamb and spicier offerings but went with the chicken curry dinner which was perfect in terms of level of heat and overall quality. In fact, this may have been the most satisfying Indian meal I've ever had dining out. And the price was more than fair for the food quality. I'm hoping to get back and bring my friends with me...

The food was incredible!! Very low key place by the hotel. Service was good and it has a very intimate feeling in some sections.

My hotel was right across the street. I heard great things. Indochen is located inside of the Hyatt. My family truly enjoyed our experience. The service was great. My kids had the Butter Chicken and loved it. Food was great. The ambiance was nice. It was nice inside and clean.

Good spot near the metro and away from all of the hubbub further down King St. with lots of street parking. I didn't realize it was in the hotel there! There's a bar and lots of seating. It wasn't very packed on a Thursday evening which is probably a good thing as it seemed like only one guy was serving, but he did a great job. The food was absolutely amazing. From the restaurant week menu, you can get an app, an entree which comes with rice and plain or garlic naan, and rice pudding for $35 which is such a steal. I got the lamb momos which were so tender and delicious and a very yummy chicken vindaloo which was spicy and a huge serving (I saved the rest for my lunch tomorrow). I wasn't a big fan of the rice pudding but that's just because I'm a little picky. Will absolutely be coming here again!

Located far from the busy touristy shops on King Street in Old Town, this restaurant is located in a hotel lobby. Indochen -- the dishes are Indian and Chinese, and we were the only diners in this quiet lobby. We sampled samosas, salmon momos, butter naan, mango avocado salad (so much ripe mango), chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. The food was brought out to us quickly ( we were the only ones there), and it was hot and delicious. Nothing was overly spicy, and the tikka masala sauce was complex and so good you wanted to soak it all up with the naan. A very enjoyable and relaxing meal.

I decided to stop here for mid afternoon lunch before I went to D'Brow Beauty. I've always passed by it, and have been curious about the food. It appears that the restaurant is part of a hotel although I'm not sure which one. It was pretty empty when I arrived and I wasn't sure if I could seat myself or had to wait because there wasn't a host/hostess in front. After a couple of minutes, a woman came from behind the bar to seat me right by the window. I did notice that the floor under my table wasn't swept which was odd being it was rather slow. She handed me the menu, and since I had perused it before I arrived, I told her I was ready to order. She did serve me water, but it was room temperature so I asked for some ice to go with it. Another guy came out from the back to look between both jugs at the serving station to determine which one had ice to serve me. I thought it was rather funny that she didn't ask if I wanted ice before she served me water. I ended up ordering the chili chicken and palak paneer. They served me the chili chicken first, and brought out the palak paneer almost 25 minutes later. The chili chicken was very savory and spicy, but you could avoid the spice by not eating the jalepeno pepper. When they finally brought out my rice, I'd say the chili chicken on top of the rice could have been its own dish. The palak paneer was a generous serving although I wish they would have brought out more rice to go with it. It was pretty flavorful and I had enough to take home. I think this is a decent option for Indian food although I'm not sure I'd return. I'd say give it a try!

Once again eating here at the hotel and trying a few new things while sitting at the bar and being to interrogate the bartender on my upcoming choices. It quiet tonight First round, crispy kale chat. New to me. Fried kale with mint, spice yogurt, tamarind, and a mango relish with some pomegranate tossed in. It's really good. Then at the risk of being too spicy tried the Chili MoMo chicken which has just a little heat despite being indicated as spicy on the menu which their chilly chicken is spicy. Of note, one of their specialty drink is a 30 day oak barrel aged Manhattan. $18 for what frankly a two for one and it's good. Last course is garlic naan and butter chicken. Absolutely yummy. Super moist tender chicken thighs in a great sauce.

Stayed in Alexandria on King Street to see the Cherry Blossoms in DC. Although there was an 85% chance of rain, it didn't start until 8 pm. Uber prices were super high, so we crossed the street and stumbled upon this gem. We started with the pork belly appetizer. It was cooked to perfection and the orange glaze was a perfect dip. Next, we ordered the Chicken Biryani Bowl and it was tasty. I opted for the Fish Mandarin after seeing the pictures online. It was better than I expected. Everyone was taking a piece to try, that's how much meat it had and the mandarin sauce made this dish even more delectable. For dessert, we shared a Gulab Jamun. The perfect end to a rainy night. Overall, the service was really good. Even though we were the last ones in before closing, we received the royal treatment. We didn't feel rushed in any way. So glad this place was across our hotel. We definitely recommend it. Tip: Google shows you a picture of every menu item.

Aloo Gobi and Veggie Chow Mein, with samosa and naan

Food taste good but my naan bread was cold. I liked the fact they had Indian and Chinese food. The food I ordered was not bad at all. The service was great, nice and friendly service.

We were there on a Saturday evening for dinner. We made a reservation for 2 but seemed like one of their leaner nights. May not have needed it! Got seated quickly at a lovely window table (ask for it when you do the reservation and they obliged beautifully!). I had a Gin and Tonic and my partner a Mango Lassi! We had Vegetable Momos which were ok but a bit on the colder side. We had Palak Panneer, Vegetable Chow Mein and Garlic Naan. The Garlic Naan was very good. The Paneer and the Chow Mein dishes were not spicy at all. Overall great food, great service and we enjoyed it a lot! Would definitely be back again some time!

Service great! Pleasant, friendly, helpful. Made strong recommendations. The food was good. I was a little skeptical when I saw that I was attached to a hotel however the decor was bright and modern and classy. The tables were spread out so it was easy to converse. The noise level was pleasant and subtle. We enjoyed our appetizers of shrimp and gobi. I wished that they'd just been a little crispier however the flavors were lovely. Butter chicken. Delicious. Salmon tikka also great! We enjoyed our fried rice which was a nice treat too. Overall everything was lovely

An unassuming and absolutely delightful Indian restaurant in a Hyatt lobby?? I was absolutely fooled for months before I stopped on in. The kale palak chaat was crispy, sweet, savory, with the extra pomegranate flavor bursts. The chili chicken was a balanced tangy and spicy. The pork belly was surprisingly crispy with far nicely rendered. Finally the daal makhani and garlic naan was a great comfort entree. Will definitely be back!

So I stopped in because another restaurant was closed nearby. I was hungry and their lunch bowl photo caught my eye. I walked into the hotel entrance so I had no idea it was part of the lobby of a hotel! It was a late lunch and there may have been ONE other person in there at the bar. I was glad I stopped in. I had a simple meal - the chicken curry bowl. It was fresh and flavorful with the right amount of spice! The servers were very attentive to both my beverage, my food and my comfort. The restaurant is a cute vibe. I could see it getting fairly busy at happy hour and/or dinner with the hotel and other travelers in the area. I will be back!

I've been eating here since Royal Nepal opened and was under different management. I've even dined at both the original (Brambleton, VA) and Arlington locations of Himalayan Wild Yak, a spin-off of sorts by two of the original owners. Both of these restaurants deserve your patronage as well when you're in either Arlington or out by Dulles. They are all great. The difference that Royal Nepal brings to the "table" is simple. They never lost that neighborhood feel and they don't take their patrons for granted. With a location down the block from the Birchmere and nestled in the up and coming Arlandria neighborhood of Alexandria, they project both a hometown restaurant feel as well as an adventurous vibe - have you ever eaten yak? The staff are real gems and the ambiance is a real treat from the "pickled veggies" on the window shelves down to the handmade Nepali napkins, this place is a virtual travelog. I can only say explore their menu and you're sure to find a treasure right here in the neighborhood.

Crispy outside, sticky and soft and sweet inside. It was served with some Mula Achar (pickled radishes), whcih was too salty for me. 2. Roti: Feels like it is not whole wheat, unlike the rotis in many Indian restaurants. 3. Roasted Yak: I asked for rare and the restaurant did a good job. The meat was lean but very tender. A little bit gamy which was what I look for. It was served with brown and red sauces; both sauces were spicy, while the red was also slightly sweet. 4. Goat Bhutan: Basically fried goat intestine, goat stomach and goat liver, served with raw tomatoes, onions and puffed rice. Mostly crispy, like it was shallow-fried. The organs were delicious but too oily for me. 5. Brussels sprouts: It was said to be pan-fried but looked like roasted. Savory and sweet. Service was good and quick. The restaurant has nice decor and a promising selection of menu items, but the execution of the traditional dishes fell short of my expectations. The Highlights: Timmur Chicken Wings: Absolutely amazing. They altered standard ingredients and added fish oil, which is definitely not characteristic of traditional Nepali Thukpa. Momo: While the dumplings themselves were okay, they were let down by the sauce. What makes a Nepali momo superior is the specific, vibrant momo sauce (achar), but the sauce served here looked and tasted like a generic, store-bought version. Overall Verdict:While the menu features an appealing variety, the execution misses the mark on authentic Nepali cuisine. It has great potential, but they need to stick to their authentic basics.

Raita 3/5 - way too liquidy for my liking. I thought they would at least provide rice, but no. So it was just basically liquid yogurt with a couple of strips of cucumbers and carrots. Paneer chili 0/5 - the container literally said 'paneer chili' and after 2/3 bites, I asked my friend if this was actually paneer because it was kind of chewy? Of course it wasn't and it was chicken!! I'm vegetarian so I was so disappointed that they put the wrong item in our order, especially since the container explicitly said paneer. The bar area is big and spacious, and usually sitting at the bar means better, more attentive service. The place was mildly busy, so I expected things to run smoothly -- but that wasn't the case. Right from the start, the bartender wasn't very attentive. We had to ask multiple times just to place our order. For appetizers, we tried the Goat Buttan and the Wild Boar -- we wanted to explore some of the unique delicacies on the menu. Both dishes were interesting, and the Goat Buttan and Wild Boar were actually pretty solid. Unfortunately, the service continued to be an issue. We had to flag the bartender again just to order our entrées and even for simple water refills. We ordered the Mutton Taas and the Yak Chili. The Yak Chili was very good, but the Mutton Taas was extremely dry -- like eating cardboard -- and lacked flavor. Throughout the night, our bartender was constantly absent. More than once, we had to ask another bartender to get his attention so we could get basic service. After finishing our meal, we ordered a dessert, the Gulab Jamun. The presentation looked nothing like the picture -- more like a sloppy drop of pudding -- and the taste was just as disappointing. And again, we had to flag down another bartender because ours was nowhere to be found. Service overall was lackluster, and the tip options started at 20% with no 18% choice. For the level of service we received, 15% would have been more appropriate. I won't be returning anytime soon unless I'm specifically craving their unique delicacies -- which is once in a blue moon.
