tl;dr: Fair pricing, quick, reliable and professional work, kind personalities…read more After being forced to snake my drains every couple of months, the galvanized pipes in my 60 year old home finally decided to call it quits and I decided it was time to replace them. I started getting estimates from different companies, and Wyatt from Piper's came out to see the scope of the work. Whenever hiring contractors I try to understand beforehand the work involved with the hypothetical if I had to do the work myself, that way when walking through the project with the person giving an estimate it helps me figure out the rough bound of what I think the project should cost in labor and materials and to help me catch if there's additional "work" or costs that get put into the bid. With this in mind, when Wyatt walked through the issues he saw and roughly the work involved to fix the issues, it was nothing but an accurate assessment. I felt comfortable bouncing ideas of what made sense to try and tackle in the scope of the repair and what might be unnecessary as there was no real sense of an upsell, just what seemed like honest, professional opinions. Time is money for lots of these companies, and sometimes estimates get rushed which happened in some of the estimates I received; but not with Piper's. They took the time to understand what my priorities were, what constraints there were, and give fair realistic suggestions. After accepting what I believed to be a very fair bid, they were able to schedule the work and came exactly when they said they would. My plumber was Wyatt with a secondary helper - both did a fantastic job and were great at what they needed to do, so only praise there. They were respectful, used shoe covers and moving pads so as to not track dirt on my carpet, cleaned up all the debris from the work, and showed great care in their work. They also were considerate of my requests to minimize the cuts into the drywall and whereas many other bids told me it was necessary to cut drywall in three different rooms for the work they took on the extra inconvenience and were able to keep all the cuts contained to just the bathroom. Time will tell how well the work holds up, but as of now I have the utmost confidence the work will last.

Then I had another Plumber come out to look at it and told us this is NOT NECESSARY. He tightened the drain plug /overflow screws and that fixed the leaking problem. The water was just leaking in between that gap from overfilling the tub. But I'm giving you 4 stars because he DID advise me that I didn't need a water heater flush yet since it's only a year old. And he advised us we could easily do it ourselves, when I told him my husband and son work for SPU in Seattle. Their reminder system is not aligned with municipal requirements, and their billing and accounts receivable processes are fundamentally flawed. I was repeatedly told by staff that a prior invoice had not been paid, despite the fact that I retained written confirmation showing the payment was submitted through their Intuit QuickBooks link and acknowledged with a "thank you for your payment" email. Despite providing this documentation, the company unilaterally canceled a scheduled service appointment the day before it was to occur, citing non-payment. When confronted with proof, the explanation shifted to a claim that they "never received the funds from the credit card company," which is not a defensible position to place on a customer after confirming receipt. These outdated business practices, inconsistent internal communication, and lack of basic financial controls introduce unnecessary risk for clients. While I had initially intended to continue using this company, the operational failures and resulting service disruption make them unreliable and difficult to do business with. There are other providers who can deliver the same service with greater professionalism, transparency, and reliability, and I will be pursuing those alternatives going forward.

I've been a customer of Certified Backflow Testing for nearly 20 years. I didn't leave over price…read moreor convenience. I left because of how they handled a mistake. After their technician serviced my backflow preventer this spring, my irrigation system stopped running. I didn't realize it right away. By the time I noticed, my lawn had already browned out and some plants were damaged. When I raised the issue, it took 2-3 weeks of back and forth to get nowhere. Certified Backflow didn't put the valve back to how they found it, which was in working condition. Their procedure states they restore valves to the position in which they are found, but they did not follow this procedure and won't take accountability for it. Management's first response was to hide behind policy rather than acknowledge what happened. They did send their GM out to look at the damage, which I appreciated. But even after seeing it firsthand, they couldn't provide any evidence that the technician left the shutoff valve in the correct position, and they offered nothing toward the damage caused. Mistakes happen. I get that. But after 20 years, I expected better. Finding a new provider.

Initially there weren't any reviews for the business so I contacted Pops Backflow, but Pops was all booked up and referred me to A+ Backflow saying "Dave is very good and always shows up for his appointments. He has all his ducks in a row in regards to insurance, licensing, bonds, etc. He is honest and does everything by the book. I got him connected with NW and they have told me their customers are very happy with his service, I'm sure you will be too."
