He spent 3 min on the bike and charged me 30 dollars. He said 15 for the front 15 for the back. I have spent over 1,500 dollars at this bike shop over the years and this is how they treat there customers. I will NEVER go back and hope everyone does the same. read more

Unfortunately, I made a huge mistake by unwittingly buying a Chinese made e-bike on Amazon. So when I got my first flat, I was at work in El Cajon and knew very little about where to go. Thankfully, Inky's was about a mile and half down the road. So I called them and spoke with Diego who was super nice and I brought it in. It turns out the tube inside the tire was damaged and they replaced it by early the next day. But I knew I was dealing with superior customer service when the owner, Jason, was the one to call me to tell me it was ready. We ended up talking for about ten minutes and the whole time I was thinking, who is this strange breed of human that is nice enough to explain e-bike things to me on a Saturday when he could be at this store on what is probably a busy sales day. Boy, was I impressed. But the second time, I got a flat - and brought the bike back - Jason was kind enough to fix it on the spot. He also spent time explaining to me the ins and outs of owning an e-bike as well as sharing with me some very interesting things about the business. He's a really nice guy and it's clear he's more interested in making customers than making money (which makes sense because making the first leads to making the second). While I don't looking forward to another flat - which is probably going to happen, given how much glass and other crap is left on the roads of El Cajon - I at least take comfort knowing that Inky's Bike Shop is there for me. First off, let me state that I am a customer that has purchased multiple bikes from the store in the past. I went to discuss with the owner, possibly donating a tuneup on a bike that we were donating to a children's charity, he refused to look at me or discuss what I was doing. He just brushed me off, and I swore I wouldn't go back. Against my better judgment, I went back today looking for a bike for my husband, which they said they didn't have. I walked outside and got on OfferUp to try to find the bike and lo and behold there's an advertisement from Inkys stating that they have one. While disappointed, I was not mad that The owner wouldn't help me with the donated bike. I was really mostly disappointed and upset about the way he treated me. The gentleman at the store today when I went by, was less than friendly and less than helpful. I have now learned my lesson and will not be back. read more

We went into a few other other bike shops before Inkys, with money ready.. and we had less than desirable experiences with the others since we weren't experienced pro-mountain bicyclists. So we really appreciated Mikey taking the time to help us out. The entire team made sure the bike was ready to go for our daughter and even helped us with a minor adjustment shortly after we walked out. I appreciate their willingness to show someone how to work something, I probably would've taken like 2 hours figuring out how to remove and reattach the basket. My husband bought bike lights for our son's bike a few days ago, and when they tried to use the lights they were faulty and didn't work. Today my husband and son returned to this business to exchange the lights for a working set. The cashier and the manager tried a few other light sets of the same type and found none of them to be working. Seeing as how none of the product was working properly, my husband asked for a refund so he could purchase different lights. The cashier remembered my husband as he had rung him up a few days prior. However, because they did not have the receipt on hand, the manager refused to do anything further. We are not looking to scam or devalue this business by requesting a refund, it seems rather standard when they are selling faulty equipment. There was a complete lack of care by the manager who does not seem to value his local customers unless they are spending several hundred dollars on an actual bike. Unfortunately we were planning to make a large purchase of a new bike for my oldest son at Inky's for Christmas but we are now looking for a new bike shop to do business with. Walked in in need of new bike parts because my Electra was in need of some tlc. The guys were nothing but helpful and super knowledgeable as far as what needed to be done. Got super comfortable leaving my bike with them for the morning. Few hours went by & they called saying my bike was finished and ready to be picked up. Walked in to pick it up and they said they fixed everything up(new chain, new front tube) and said they fixed and tuned my gears up at no charge. All I'm all I walked out happily only spending $60. Went in looking for new pedals, Diego helped lead me in the right direction with the correct parts Walked out with some pedals & a cult stem for my Sunday, Diego was very well versed in order to help me out with all my questions... got home was missing a piece for a Tight Fit, went back they installed the shim, retightened up the bike. Just wanted to leave a review of how helpful Inky's was with my kids. (I believe it was the owner who helped us) He helped us find the right sizes on bikes and helmets to fit properly. He also mentioned that they build bikes too! He was patient, made suggestions, gave us helpful tips, and told us when to bring the bikes in for service! We went to Inkys last weekend, the place was BUMPIN! Lots of people buying bikes. I really didn't know what I was looking for, but the guy that helped me was really knowledgeable and was patient with my endless questions. He helped me choose a bike that was right size for me and one for my daughter. They had a decent selection of bikes, but it was evident that they were flying off their shelves as fast as they could build them! They have a lot of nice accessories too. I really can't say anything negative about this place. If you buy a bike here, they give you free basic tune ups for life! That's pretty sweet. I guess the one MILDLY bad thing is the parking out front... there isn't much! And it would be nice if there was an area to test ride a bike. Living in Northern California, there aren't many shops that have scooter parts. Several scooter riders were telling me about this shop, and from the shop's scooter team, I can see that they know their business. I have helped a scooter rider by from a store in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and I'd rather keep the business in this state. I talked to one of the people (the owner?) extensively, and he spoke clearly about the products and seemed extremely sincere. He even mentioned that they have orders coming from outside of the U.S.A. Since they still have to make money, the prices were about the same as everywhere else--not really good or bad. What's best is the knowledge they bring. That other company didn't talk to me on the phone, so trying to get help seemed pretty much impossible. They would call back supposedly, but that's not reassuring. I'm pleased to see that this shop is more than just a warehouse. read more

Went here for a bike tube, guy came out gave it to me and off I went. Got home pumped it up and had a hole in it. Figured no big deal I will just go back. Went back with both my sons figured I would get my son the new tubes buy a new tire and get my other son a bike, instead they lost a customer for life. They said I popped the tube that I should have bought a different tube. I said well this is what you gave me and didn't have that option since it was in the back. They acted like it was my fault and why was I bothering them with this. Well I won't, there is plenty of other places to go. So patched the tube, ended up being 5 pin holes (cheap china tire), bought a new tube from walmart (made in usa for 2 bucks less) of all places and now it is fine. read more

I recently acquired a bicycle from my neighbor who had to leave town quickly. I brought it to Inky's to see if; A) it was worth doing anything to B) how much work it would need and what that would cost. I had heard good things about the guys at Inky's, but I was so impressed with the service and speed. One of the gentlemen got the bike up on the rack and did a quick visual inspection. Took my road bike into the shop today for the first time to get a new bike tube and the young guy working was quick to ask if I needed help and changed the tube out very quickly and was very friendly. All the employees here were kind and seemed to really care about the customers in the shop and providing speedy, quality service. We had a very bad experience here. We brought our sons bike in to get the brakes repaired. My son has a very nice Razor kids motocross bike in really good condition except the brakes needed to be tightened. The owner looked at the bike and said these type of brakes are 'garbage'. 'These are not good design bikes and there isn't anything I can do.' He then continues to tell us that the bike is a poor design, it's not a good bike and he acts disgusted. He said all of this while my young son was holding his bike. This was a very disappointing and sad experience. I still can't believe this adult man was this rude to a young boy in front of him. My heart is still broken as I think about my son crying on our drive home because he thought the bike that he loves is 'garbage'. read more

TERRIFIC customer service. I came in during the COVID-19 pandemic, at around 1030am on a weekday. There were a few patrons that walked in and out during our short stay. We were welcomed right away by a young man. I told him that I had bought a Groupon deal for a tune up. I had a bike that I hadn't rode in over 3 years and wanted to make sure it was good and safe to ride. The young gentleman told me that he would see if we would even need to use the Groupon. A separate gentleman examined my bike, lubed it up, put air in the tires, and gave it a short ride outside. He said that the bike was fine, didn't need a tune up, and that we could be on our way. I also asked about how to change gears and the kind gentleman gave a quick crash course of how and when to change gears. Very knowledgeable. Definitely will be returning and am excited to do business with them. read more
