I went into Mission Trails Bike Shop today to get help replacing a tube on a fat tire bike. I brought both the tire and the tube, so all I needed was the labor. Their website lists a tire tube change at $10 for labor only, which seemed fair. As soon as I arrived, they started working on the tire and removed the tube. It took them about 10 minutes to do, using metal tire levers which I was trying to avoid at home so I would not damage the rim. But, professionals, right? I trusted what they were doing, and ultimately the rim looks fine. When it came time to pay, I was asked if I had cash. I did not, so I went to get some to support a small business. I came back with $40. That is when the gentleman saw the cash and hand and told me they "usually charge $40" for the service, even though the website says $10 and there were no prices posted in the shop. I can understand paying extra since it was a fat tire and a little more difficult, maybe even $20, but being charged $40 after they saw the cash in my hand felt shady. Perhaps it was my mistake not asking about the pricing upfront, but if you have pricing posted on your website, I would expect it to be in that ballpark. In the end, I paid four times the posted rate just for labor, despite supplying my own parts. I will not be returning to this shop and cannot recommend it to others. read more

Do not go here for repair. The guy demands you pay in cash then doesn't give you a receipt. He tuned my brand new derailer then says I need other parts to the tune of $350. A week later I come to pick it up and on test ride the spring on the derailer which he worked on twice breaks right in front of him on test ride and he's like oh well deal with it. I feel like he stole from me sellingme unneeded parts and leaving me with a broken bike!!!! Save your time and money at a more experienced skilled shop. Place inside looks like a hoarder's house and his records are on index cards!!!! Be warned and please do not make the same mistake I did!!!! read more

Mission Trails Bike Shop ruined my son's 14th birthday. We brought my son's Zooz e-bike in to have a pedal repaired and a new rear brake installed. The pedal seems to be repaired, but the brake was installed lazily and dangerously. The brake line should be routed underneath the seat, down the bike's frame to the rear caliper to factory securement points. The same points where they removed the stock brake. Instead they left the brake line and power cable dangling from under the seat and the hydraulic brake line rubbing on the rear tire! I cannot express how dangerous this is. How irresponsible it is for an owner of a bike shop to deliver a bike like this. The owner, Jeff, also insisted I pay the $200.00 bill in cash - odd. He either knew he was delivering unacceptable work and knew I would be unhappy, or tax evasion is being committed at this business. To sum it up, my son will not have his bike on his birthday and I will now have to spend time and energy in small claims per the owner Jeff's request. His response was and i quote "sue me." read more

Stopped by today for a flat repair. The helpful staff member member and who I believe was the owner greeted me upon arrival and tended to my repair request quickly. They made some small talk that was appreciated and was genuine. They had me ready to go in just a few moments. The pricing was reasonable (average) for the ask. Really can't beat it these days! They provided me great service, they were nice/friendly people and provided quick service. I will definitely be a repeat customer! I used Mission Trails Bike Shop after being totally turned off by Trek in LaMesa. I have a fairly new Cannondale that needed the basic tune up after a year of riding. I know that is all relative. Trek wanted to charge me from $100 to $200 or more. Telling me I needed new tires and more. And they wouldn't honor the extra maintenance package I purchased. With my bike in the car, I immediately went to MTBS. Jeff greeted me and was low pressure, yet assured me he would take care of my bike expertly for the low end price. He did everything and more. These two, Jeff and Chuck are the best! It felt like I had stepped back in time, when Great Customer Service really meant something. I will only do business with them from now on. If I could give this bike shop zero stars I would! This is the 2nd time I have been there and will not be back or recommend this shop to anyone. The 1st time I went there for my daughter's bike tire and was way over charged. I asked if they had a military discount and the owner said he would only give me a $1.25 off. I went back to give a community business a 2nd chance for my tire on my stroller. He was going to charge me 20$ and replace the tube. I left and was able to just put air in the tire and the stroller is good to go Now! Find another place! read more

Extremely horrible local bike shop experience!!! If there was an option to give zero stars, I would. Went in for repair and left it overnight that later turned to a few more days. When I arrived, nothing was done, well except added brake pads that I really didn't need(but purchased it to support this LBS). Upon pick up and after test ride, it was a bike that needed more work than when I dropped it off. Mechanic was a bit rude and upset because now they were trying to fix things on the spot. I just gave in, got my bike back and was still got charged a ridiculous amount for a repair that still needed to be repaired. Don't recommended this LBS. read more
