We came in for help with a shifting issue and getting handlebars cut down, then ended up deciding to have a lesson a few days later. Love their cool grips and cold brew drips! I always find what I'm looking for, whether its a nice caffeine buzz, idle chat about bikes, or odds and ends for my bicycle. Their parts are reasonably priced and they do excellent custom work. Everyone is knowledgable and friendly, and I always leave with a smile! They have dog-friendly patio/outdoor seating areas and everyone was hygeine conscious/masked up! Their coffee shop has rotating holiday drinks (for the inner BASIC cyclist like myself) and lunch/breakfast items. I had a question and the mechanics advise for me was "do myself a favor and just buy a new bike"... So in his mind.. Buy one of their new bikes ($1k and up) over just buying a longer bottom bracket ($25) and a cranket ($45)... Because he couldn't understand how to extend out a crank teeth from grinding my bike frame lol.. wow. I am a brand new mountain-biker. I purchased a used bike and came here for my gear. The customer service here is PHENOMENAL! Conner was a huge help identifying the proper gear. Jason (I believe he's the owner) was jumping in and out and is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Jason offered to take a look at my new-to-me bike and offer his thoughts. I came back a second time to pick up something I forgot and Jason took a look at my bike. He took the time to explain how a lot of it operates and make suggestions of what I may want to change in the future. Based on his insight I decided to go ahead with the improvements now. He also threw in a few free upgrades/modifications. I can't express how stoked I am to find a group of local people so excited about riding and eager to share their knowledge. Before I bought the Kona I had a Giant Trance they did maintenance on it and I was really happy with the level of service they provide on all levels. I had called a bike shop " #nkys " and they told me to bring my bike in the morning so I did and they were rude and told me to come a different day since all of a sudden they were "busy" though no one was there? So I left disappointed and googled another shop. Thank god I did because when I called chain line bikes they told me to come in and I'd be taken care of, so I did and man My first time at this shop I was blown away. I went in with 3000 dol in my pocket, I started asking questions, about my bike because I was looking for a rare part and knew it would cost a lot. Well, the "kid" I was originally talking to seemed like he wanted to help me, but halfway through our conversation an older man chimed in and acted like he wanted nothing to do with my business, he was very rude. I was lead to believe it was because I was only looking for a part and was not going to let them work on my bike. I have ten bikes of my own that I tune up and repair myself, not a hard job nor rocket science, a couple well over twenty years old, I only needed to find a rare part. I was referred here by a fellow East County mountain biker. The last repair shop I faithfully used for years decided to throw customer service away so I've been searching for a new shop to frequent. I came in here looking for a new pair of shoes. I was offered help, but wasn't pushed into accepting it which I appreciate. The shop was small, but packed a decent amount of bicycles, gear, apparel, and upgrades inside. Per the owners own admission, they don't have everything but they'll be happy to order what they don't have. This seemed to be a mountain bike only shop, although I'm sure they wouldn't turn you away if you brought a road bike in for maintenance. There was a decent selection of Maxxis tires, and an equivalent selection of what appeared to be maybe Goodyear tires? I figured they would stock the more common tires from Maxxis, Continental, WTB etc. I had a good first experience here and I'd be back for any of my mountain biking needs. read more

Ive dealt with a few chain bike shops before and a lot of them are expensive, cold, and transactional. Go to Chainline bikes if you wanna talk to decent human beings who do a great job fixing your bike. I had a bent rim so it couldn't seat a beat. As a last ditch effort,I wanted to see if they could unbend it because I kept popping tubes. Not only did Joe pound that sucker out, he got me tubeless again! He took the time to fix and tighten my derailleur, added bar ends, changed my brake pads, then educated me about how to maintain my bike. All that for a very reasonable cost. His time, advice, and the amount of care he puts into his work is unmatched. Ill be going back for all my maintenance. Support awesome people. Oh, and bonus! Needed to get my tires off to replace an innnertube on both tires. They were very difficult to get off, I had went to a bike shop previous to coming here and the previous bike shop wasn't able to get them off. Can't say enough great things about Jason and his Chainline Team. I've been to a lot of the LBS in San Diego and none are anywhere near the level of service and quality of Chainline. They've now built 2 bikes for me (SB130 and Revel Ranger) and both bikes were dialed in from day one. Most recent custom build was my Revel Ranger that wasn't supposed to be available until March 2021 but Jason got it to me the day before Christmas with added "Bling."
