TLDR The nurse at the allergy shot clinic turned me away today for my monthly shot because I was 3 minutes late even after explaining that Uber kept cancelling and how I would waste $40 for coming here. Would have expected a nurse to be more empathetic and understanding for her patient who needs care and timely shots. I went in for my monthly allergy shot today and I went in 3 minutes after 4pm because I had to order an Uber and it kept getting cancelled on me. The nurse came out and told me she can't administer the shot today since I arrived late. I didn't want to argue because there were a lot of people in the lobby but as I was walking out, I thought I'd go back in and explain the circumstances and how I'd have spent $40 for nothing for Uber round trip. I went back in and prefaced with an apology and that I'd be better on time and asked her to accommodate me this time. She said this is the policy and she will not administer shots. I explained to her that this is no small sum of money I'd be wasting and tried to get her to understand, but she says she can't make an exception for me and that she doesn't make the decision, to which i replied but you're the one calling the shots. After a few more back and forth I walked out, frustrated and angry for how little flexibility and empathy this nurse has for her patient. This wasn't the first time I felt this way about this nurse, as other nurses that I have interacted in the past were more personable and not so uptight. Sure, you have your "policies" but as a nurse working with patients, naturally you would expect them to be more understanding and accommodating to your needs and situation and I was very polite about asking her from the beginning. The way she talked to me was patronizing and as if she was a teacher in a classroom berating her students for being late. She could have as easily taken my apology and been the understanding older adult and let my trip not go to waste but this nurse worries more about her policies and fails to take on a more humane approach to treating her patients. I take time out of my work and time and money to come get this shot and just because I was literally 3 minutes past 4, she dismissed me without a second thought. This has really soured my day and sure maybe she had a bad day herself to make someone feel this way but this was definitely not professional on her part.

Followed every instruction the doctor gave. When I've finally exhausted the over the counter meds I was prescribed a new medication told the side effects are minimal. Gave it a go and it made me incredibly ill. When I called the office to ask if that's normal or what other options there are the receptionist completely disregarded my concerns. Said to go back on my previous medications or go to another doctor. I was shocked. I'm not one to argue so I said ok I will do that. I have nothing bad to say about the provider. After multiple attempts, I finally got through, only to hear staff chatting in the background instead of focusing on helping patients. English is not my first language, and I was doing my best to explain that I was calling to schedule an allergy appointment for my daughter, who has IEHP insurance and a referral from her pediatrician. While I was speaking, I felt that my accent was being mocked and that I was not being taken seriously. Feeling embarrassed and overwhelmed, I ended the call, took a few minutes to gather my thoughts, and called back. However, before I could finish explaining my situation, the call was disconnected and my request for an appointment was never addressed. As a mother trying to obtain medical care for her child, I left this interaction feeling humiliated rather than helped. No patient should be made to feel ashamed because English is not their first language. After reading many of the reviews here, I realized that complaints about rude staff, poor communication, and unprofessional behavior have existed for years. The fact that the same concerns continue to appear suggests that management has chosen to ignore them rather than address them. Patients come to a medical office for help, especially when they are worried about their children. They deserve patience, respect, and professionalism. I hope this office takes a serious look at how patients are treated, because no parent should leave a phone call feeling the way I did today.

However, I was disappointed with the unnecessary delay in completing my physical clearance. The delay appeared to be caused by miscommunication and uncertainty regarding the responsibilities of the different departments. Although the X-ray was completed through another department within the same health center, the results were not initially made available to the doctor. I was also informed by the imaging department that the results would be sent to the doctor and would be available through the patient portal for the appropriate staff to access. Despite this, I had to make several phone calls and make multiple trips back and forth to the health center to ensure that the X-ray results had been received and that my clearance could move forward. This was very time-consuming, stressful, and disappointing, especially since the information was already available within the same health system. I believe clearer communication and coordination between departments could have prevented this delay and made the process much smoother for the patient. Other than this issue, I have always had a positive impression of Pomona Valley Health Centers, and it would continue to be my choice for healthcare services. I appreciate the kindness and respect shown by the staff and hope that this feedback can help improve coordination and communication for future patients.

When I went to the urgent Care, I had a horrendous lung infection. The reviews online had made it…read moresound like they had a licensed general practitioner on staff. The receptionist at the front desk was pleasant enough, but what happened in the doctors office was unbelievably bad. I never saw a physician instead I saw a unsupervised physicians assistant there was not a doctor in the facility. The medical assistant for the PA came in and began an initial intake she was nice. She had not taken my blood pressure yet. She left the room to get a different blood pressure cuff. She reentered the room with the PA. The mail PA asked me why I was there. I explained to him that I had had a lung infection going on two weeks and that it was not getting any better and that I needed something to calm down the cough., I wanted to be tested for RSV and Covid and I probably needed to have an order for a chest x-ray over at Pomona Valley Hospital. What happened next was shocking the PA told me well. We need to send you to the emergency room right away your blood pressure is 110/170! You could have a stroke or a heart attack. I looked at the nursing assistant and said well Dr. that's impossible for two reasons first I am on blood pressure medication that has kept my blood pressure very stable for over 10 years and I doubt that my blood pressure is that high. Secondly your assistant hasn't even taken my blood pressure yet. Instead of the PA apologizing and taking my blood pressure the individual double down and said well we're not going to be able to treat you at this facility. You need to go to the emergency room. When I asked why considering that the PA had not done a physical exam yet he told me that they did not have the ability to treat me at their facility. I asked to speak to the physician in charge and I was told that they did not have a physician on staff at that urgent care. I said well can you reach One via telehealth And I was told no. I asked could you please give me a prescription for a cough suppression medication or an expectorant and I was told no I began to get a little irritated, and I said at the very least you could do a physical examination order the chest x-ray a and labs so that I don't have to spend five hours at the emergency room wasting an emergency room physicians time. The PA turned around, began walking out the door and said you're going to have to go to the emergency room. I received no care at this urgent care and yet they charged my insurance company for a urgent care visit. I have actually called my insurance company and informed them of the experience and encourage them not to pay the bill. This is actually a first for me, but in the last two years I have become less and less impressed by the Pomona Valley Hospital care system and their urgent cares. It feels to me like their physicians and their PAs need more training. The PAs need supervision and guidance from a more experienced, licensed medical professional based on this experience, I would never go back to La Verne Pvhc Urgent Care. I actually went to another urgent care that is not part of the pvhc system the next day and received high-end quality urgent care from a pa under the direct supervision of a doctor. What I would expect from a Urgent doctors appointment. It turned out that I had RSV , I was immediately given cough medicine and supportive care, advice and I was treated and made a full recovery. It is unfortunate that I had to go to two urgent care to get the actual care that I needed so I really hope that my insurance company does not pay them for this visit because they did nothing to deserve a financial reward. The only reason that I am giving them two stars is because the receptionist at the front desk was very nice.
