We checked in at the front office where we were greeted politely and were given instructions on how to get to, enter and use our sauna pod. The Pods are located right across the street from the Chalets so I was worried at first about having adequate privacy but once we entered the Pod I felt I was transported to the middle of the woods. My favorite part of the Pod was that it was Bluetooth equipped so I was able to play some folk music over the speakers to enhance my woodsy experience. Towels and bottled water are also provided for you in the Pod. We booked an hour, which I thought might be too long in the heat for me personally but after taking the recommended breaks, it didn't feel long enough. We emerged from our Pod soaking in sweat but refreshed and with every endorphin in our bodies firing. It was a fabulous experience!

I booked online and the process was really easy. I got reminder emails, a welcome message when it was time to check-in and everything was contactless when I arrived. While I spent a good amount of time outside of my cabin (Laurelwood), I also spent a good amount of time there. It snowed a lot so I soaked up the giant window views, enjoyed the hot tub, and lots of relaxing. My only big complaint was that of the cabin itself. I couldn't figure out what it was but the entire building was just loud. Like so loud, I couldn't sleep. Had I known, I would have brought ear plugs and trust me, I have them thanks to living in the city. Despite not being able to sleep my two nights there, and constant loud ass humming all throughout, the rest of the experience was solid. The space was comfy, included all the necessities, and they even plowed the driveway after the snow. I love coming here and the Chalets are a great choice. I just might ask about the sound issues on my next visit.

I stayed in the lodge hotel rooms with our friend and 2 year old. I booked the king suite with a pull out couch and balcony. It was perfect, had a view of the lake and was right near the bar restaurant. It was very convenient having 2 bathrooms. The main bedrooms bathroom was newly re done, the other rooms seemed older but worked fine. There's dish cable tv and wifi. I was told there were charcoal grills for use and when I arrived they didn't seem to know anything about it which was odd. However we found grills for use next to the playground near the lodge. The story book trail is great for a nice hike with little ones. My husband enjoyed the disc golf course. I wish on the website they clarified that if you want to swim in the lake you have to drive to the swimming beach, but it wasn't too far. There's boating and hunting and fishing as well. Food at the restaurant is over priced but you pay for convenience since there's nothing close by to eat. There's fire pits with a nice view of the lake, and fire wood to purchase if you didn't bring your own. The rooms have a microwave and mini fridge. Overall we have a very nice time and I'd definitely come back.

If you must, the way to go is order a pizza to go and pick it up when it is ready. The pros: beautiful view over the water, great at sun down. The cons: the food took way too long to come out. They forgot to bring the soup and salad we order before the meal, and by the time they went to get my soup, they had run out of that kind! See attached photos and video of the fish. Sad to say both my wife and I ordered that same meal. When it finally did come out the fish was so deeply fried that it was rock hard and there was not much remanence of any kind of fish meat left to be scavenged. Not even a forest dwelling mongrel would have gone for this disastrous preparation. I asked the waitress if it was supposed to be like this and she said "yes". (looking back that is a pretty funny answer) I told her that we were not going to be able to eat the meal. I mean even if we wanted to, it really wasn't food at this point. Is there anything she could do for us? After going to the back and having a discussion with her manger, she came back and said she could provide 30% off of each fish meal..... that is so close to doing nothing. And it wasn't just us. The cabin was fairly secluded, but not too far from shopping... It's in a back road, and though there were some other dwellings nearby, we never felt intruded upon or otherwise near anyone else (note: we were there in late winter, so the trees were bare... In the late spring/summer/fall, this wouldn't be a factor). The cabin itself was FLAWLESSLY maintained and equipped... We had plenty of firewood, propane, toilet paper, dishes, utensils, etc. Everything was clean and in it's place... The kitchen, bathroom, outdoor propane grill, and hot tub were immaculate... Decor was just what it should be; log cabin charming... Our cell phones had no service, but internet and satellite TV worked reliably... Even had a blue-ray player and a small but adequate sound-system that we could hear on the back porch while having a romantic dinner al fresco... Clean and functional bathroom with shower, bath, modern toilet, large capacity hot water tank, first aid kit, plunger, vacuum, etc... Seriously, better equipped than even your better motor lodges.. There are even some personal touches/fun games that the proprietors play with their guests, if you wish to participate (Just make sure to read the guest book/literature that is left for you!) :-) A day spa, this is not.. But for a TRUE quaint, "home-away-from-home," it is... We WILL be back, and WILL recommend to friends... Well done!!!

My sister discovered a mama rodent and her babies living directly underneath her bed. Not visiting. Not passing through. Fully moved in. Nursery established. No reservation required. One night was refunded, but the hours of sorting through belongings and doing laundry afterward were apparently part of the complimentary glamping package. Wildlife? Expected. A rodent maternity ward under the bed? Different category. Future glampers: before you unpack, CHECK UNDER THE BED. And maybe check whether your accommodations already have long-term tenants.

It was pretty cool to see the armored knights, the cool architecture of the castle (inside and out), the beautiful stained glass windows and all the older decorations. -The bedroom and bathroom were clean (except it was very dusty). -We were pleasantly surprised that there was a refrigerator and microwave because the way the website is worded it sounds like there is only a common refrigerator on the 2nd floor. -The Innkeepers, Dave and Trish, were very friendly and helpful. They try hard to please you and work hard. -Breakfast was ok. Mostly frozen sausage and bagged hash browns. There was also quiche, bagels and toast with various condiments. The Not So Good -Obviously the castle is old and you would expect it to have somewhat of a musty smell. It was exceptionally musty when you walk into the castle. Most people may tolerate it but with my breathing problems it was difficult for me. The room we stayed in was not bad but you can still smell it, especially when you open the door. -The rooms look really nice on the website but not as nice in person. The inn needs a lot of work and one maintenance man cannot possible do it all himself. More help is really needed. -Could use a place to hang cloths along with some hangers.

Our host was a bit frazzled because of weather delays but he was so pleasant! We happily waited and talked with the other guests. We had eggs, hashbrowns, toast, english muffins and sausage. The night before he said it would be buffet style and then the next morning he ended up plating everything and bringing it out to us. There was also coffee, juice, and hot tea available. I would recommend adding some ketchup and jam to the menu options. There is a cute little gift shop with some interesting items in it. The innkeeper let us stay as long as we liked even though check-out was at 11a. There was one other couple staying with us that night but we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The decor is awesome. Overall the castle is adorable and fun. The innkeeper was so sweet and attentive. There are a few areas of maintenance improvements that could be done throughout the castle. I would love to see someone help invest for the repairs because I would hate for anything to happen to this beautiful space.

I have chosen the OU Inn for years -- not because…read moreit's the most modern option (it isn't), not because it's the closest to campus (it isn't), and not because the rooms justify the price gouging that comes with Mom's Weekend (they don't). I chose it for the nostalgia... and the sense that as a member of the OU community, this was my hotel. I won't be making that mistake again. Here's what happened: I booked a room for Mom's Weekend 2026 a full year in advance -- because that's what you have to do when a hotel decides that one weekend a year justifies a $500/night rate. Fine. Supply and demand - I get it. What I didn't get was any reminder. Every hotel I've stayed at across the world -- and I travel frequently -- sends a "We're looking forward to seeing you this week" days before check-in. The OU Inn, apparently, has not discovered this technology. Instead, I received a reminder email at 7:10 PM -- after check-in had already passed. Not so useful. When I called and acknowledged my own mistake -- I genuinely did forget -- I wasn't asking for a free pass. I asked only to cancel the second night, understanding I'd eat the cost of the first. The response? A rigid recitation of the 48-hour cancellation policy by River at the front desk. On a sold-out Mom's Weekend. When hotels in Athens are turning people away for months before. The idea that they couldn't rebook that room -- on the busiest weekend of the year -- is either dishonest or incompetent. And then the cherry on top: I received a cancellation confirmation email Saturday morning, which gave me genuine hope that someone with a pulse had reviewed my situation and done the right thing. Nope. Turns out the system auto-cancelled when I missed check-in -- and then staff **manually re-entered my reservation knowing full well I wasn't coming.** That is not a clerical error. That is a choice. I have kids at OU now. I will be making the trip from California multiple times a year for the next three years. I was fully prepared to be a reliable, repeat customer -- someone who picks the OU Inn on principle, even when better options exist. That's what loyalty looks like. What I experienced in return was rigidity, indifference, and staff that were, frankly, rude about it. To management: you had every tool to make this right. A waitlist. A goodwill gesture. Basic human flexibility on the most in-demand weekend of your year. You chose none of them. For $450 (refund for one night), you've lost a customer who was already sold on you.
