I'm a bit of a hippie - I get a haircut when I have a reason to...not every six weeks or whatever. This hasn't fazed Jackie either time I've been there, even though it's probably more work for her. In fact when I was looking for inspo looks last night, I realized the best was the photo of the last haircut she gave me a year ago! In which she asked what I wanted, considered how I could best achieve that given my style-at-home habits (nonexistent, btw) and made me feel comfortable and confident deferring to her expert opinion. I also appreciate how she doesn't try to sell me on products. She suggests, but I genuinely believe it comes from a good place - example, I told her I was into all-natural stuff, like my botched coconut oil experiment, and she didn't poo-poo it. I asked her for some guidance on products and she showed me some of the natural lines the salon carries but it was no pressure, she genuinely wanted to help. I swear if I ever get recommended a Japanese hair gloss again for my already fine hair I'm swearing off hair salons forever...luckily I won't have to because Jackie would never do that! Restoring my faith in salons lol Allure is so affordable too...$44 for a wash, cut, and style (*tip your stylist). I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure you can't beat that! The sylist acted like I was inconveniently there, wash my hair so hard I was wincing, didn't adjust the bowl at all, and washed my hair with ice cold water. When she finally slowed down and realized she was hurting me, instead of apologizing and slowing down, she got pissed and someone else will do it. I said no, it's just a little hard. After that terrible experience, we went to blow dry. Same thing. Hard brushing, and rushing to get me out. Backstory: I am local, and I have been a customer of this salon, on and off, for about 15 years.  Over the years, I have been a client of two very good stylists: Jackie and Heather (who were not involved with the interaction below). Issue: Bait-and-switch on kids haircuts--when scheduling I was quoted a max of $35; however, I was charged $60 plus (per haircut) at closeout for a number of kids haircuts.  Thick hair was the reasoning.  If the salon's website had a disclaimer that this was a policy, or a verbal beforehand about the pricing differentials, we'd have a non issue (that said, I would have gone elsewhere).  As I mentioned above, it's the last minute bait-and-switch, and then being completely ignored by the owners to discuss my displeasure with the experience.   Bottom line: If you are someone who makes an effort to support local businesses, I would think twice about this establishment.  I feel like I was treated like a disposable suburban customer--which clearly was the case.
