I left my first review for Lan in 2014. It's been 8 years, I've moved out of the area, and I still drive all the way over to her for my haircuts. When I first met Lan, I showed her a picture of how I like my hair to look and she cut my hair exactly that way. Over the years, she has suggested gentle adjustments, which actually make my hair look better than I had thought it could look. I am so impressed by this shop. Never have I ever received a haircut where my ears were not clipped by a comb. Lan didn't touch them once. I was comfortable, conversation was flowing, and the haircut was amazing. I will continue to get my hair cut here. I do recommend calling ahead to make an appointment. I have been going to this salon since 2010. My master is Marina. She always does a wonderful job! She listens to the wishes of clients carefully and offers the solutions. Sometimes you have one vision in mind but she can clearly see how it will look in the end, so she gives the right advice on what will look good with your eyes, complexion face oval , etc. Very professional. She is always a nice person to talk to , she speaks English and Russian and is always pleasant and friendly. this is my hair cutter of choice! it's always scary moving to a new town and having to find a new place to get a hair cut. luckily for me, i found ester during one of my trips to the local hair cuttery. about a year back, three of the stylists started the Family Clip Shop, and i've been there ever since. they're always extremely friendly and helpful there, and were even able to give my young son his first few haircuts without any meltdowns. i would highly recommend ester to anyone looking for a new hair cutter! oh, and can't forget the free shampoo wash afterwards. gets all the hairs out and ready for whatever i'm doing next. read more

I just moved to this area and was looking for a good place to get my hair cut. I have very short pixie cut and I have a hard time finding someone who 1) won't cut it too short 2) will keep it feminine 3) won't cut it to be fluffy like my grandma's was. So I approached this experiment with trepidation. However, I couldn't have been happier with my experience. Lan was able to schedule an appointment for me the day after I called. I took in a couple photos of myself with my hair the correct length so that she would have a frame of reference. She did a fantastic job - she even made sure to pause every now and then to double check that she was doing things the way I wanted them done. The bonus was the price. I'm on a very tight budget, and this haircut was completely in my price range. I feel so lucky to have found Family Clip Shop. read more

They really have skills. One Asian lady gave me exact what I asked for. She was really careful and had really good skills. She not only cut my hair short but also made it thinner and layers. She really knows how to cut Asians' hair. The price is also fine. A haircut for men is 17$. I love that place. read more

I don't know what happened with my visit, since all the other reviews are so great. I just got layers, and it came out disastrously. This is actually my first bad haircut ever - I have super manageable hair, and usually go to Supercuts and another inexpensive place with no problem. My hair currently looks like a kid took scissors to it - super uneven. I have to go to another salon to get it fixed, actually. The people here are nice, and it seems like others had good experiences, but I would recommend another place if you're on the fence. I don't even know how my haircut could get this bad. It looked fine after the stylist cut it, but when I went home and washed it, it looked so awful I started crying. read more

I'm never going to get our family's hair cut anywhere else. Lan is terrific - polite, on time, meticulous and careful, and made absolutely sure that my eight year old daughter was okay with how her hair was getting cut. And it's more affordable and better quality than Supercuts, for sure. My five year old son played in the playroom the whole time and I read magazines from the copious collection. So happy to find this place. I tried it on a recommendation from my parents who have been going there for a while. My dad's hair always look great, my mom is very picky about her hair and continues to go back. I've had 2 haircuts there and Marina did a fantastic job both times. She is very nice and takes the time to listen to what you want for your haircut. I've been to numerous salons in Metrowest and downtown and she is the best! I am pretty picky about my hair after living in NYC for years and spending a lot on high-end salon haircuts. I took a drastic measure and chopped off all of my hair going from shoulder length to anne hathaway. I went here because they had good reviews, were inexpensive, and are practically around the corner from where I live. The woman that cut my hair (I think koko?) was very friendly and she did a good job. She gets 4 stars instead of 5 only because even though I brought in pictures of the length I wanted, she did cut it a bit too short. Of course that's partly my fault because I didn't stop her having never had my hair cut like it before and not realizing. But that being said, I will come back. read more

Great services for the family! I have been going for over a year for color including highlights and cuts, and then my husband and my son became clients too. We moved to the area from Brookline, and i have been previously going to top salons in the city. Now Marina does my hair, and the quality of her work is the same or better but at a fraction of the cost. The place looks simple, but the service is outstanding. I have just come here 3 or 4 times since my prior salon closed up. LAN has cut my hair each time. I have walked in twice and made 1 or 2 appointments. Appointment times were acceptable. My walk ins were taken in very short order. She does a great job, thorough and clean. Nice shampoo after cut. The exterior of the plaza does not do this salon justice but I guess that helps keep the price down. Men's cut $15.00 + tip. read more

I stopped by this salon for the first time yesterday. I wanted just a trim and I was afraid that a small, fair-priced salon would not do a good job (and I didn't want to pay $45. for just a trim at a regular-priced salon). Lan was cutting a young man's hair and I noticed that she paid a lot of attention to what he wanted - asking him if he wanted it shorter on the top than she had already cut and how he wanted his sideburns. I was already feeling more comfortable watching them interact, and his hair looked great when she finished. Then when it was my turn, Lan listened to every word I said before touching those scissors to my hair (I don't even get that at a high-priced salon)! She did a great job, she is extremely personable and I will definitely be getting my future hair cuts/trims at FCS. read more
