After spending $23.000.00 for a deck several years ago we started having problems with the lighting. I've made many calls during the last few years but no one has come out. We recently had a front porch with a handicap accessible ramp put in by Innovative Decks. I could not be happier! Gina came out to give us the estimate. She was extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The project was completed in one week. The construction crew were fantastic and every day cleaned everything up. I am totally enjoying my new porch and the ramp has made my life so much easier. Judy in the office kept us informed every step of the way. Ken the owner really was great with giving us suggestions and his knowledge. We have had so many compliments from neighbors, family & friends about how beautiful our new porch is! The people at Innovative Decks were a pleasure to work with. Ten years ago we hired them to build a deck ($23,000.00) and they did. They ASSURED my wife and me that they would handle any issue that arose after they completed the deck. THEY LIED!! We have contacted them several times over the years about something that needed to be fixed/replaced and no one has ever come out to fix/repair it. I would give Innovated Decks Zero stars if it was an option. I have my entire front porch done by this company in June/July 2022. Instead of giving them 1/3 of the money as they asked, I paid them 1/2... (I know it was not a smart thing to do). But they assured me that the work would be done in 5-6 weeks. They cashed my check the day after I gave it to them and I signed the contract. 3 weeks went by where I couldn't reach anyone in their office for a potential date to start the work. I called numerous times and always left a message to please call me back.... Never received a call. My sister and I took a ride to their office. Upon entering the office we were greeted by Judy who snapped 'Who are you' ? I explained who I was and that I had been calling and was wondering when they could start working on my house as Gina told me it would be done by May 15th. She replied with 'Gina never said that'...followed by 'Do you want your money back'... No, I just wanted a potential start date. She told me that Gina would call me... Another two weeks went by ...no call. Again, I start calling them... no answer... After a month goes by the construction crew came by and tore off the existing porch and dug up the concrete slab. 2 weeks later I call Ken (the owner) and ask him when they will pour the concrete. He told me that the concrete union is on strike an he cannot get concrete. While out to dinner a few evenings later I ran into an employee of Ozinga where Ken said he gets his concrete. This Ozinga employee tells me that they are still pouring concrete for residential, just not doing large commercial contracts. I called Ozinga and spoke with a manager. He told me that they were pouring concrete for Innovated Decks. Every time Ken was at my house he used foul language and was very crass. My sister and a neighbor was coming over every time he was here. We were all shocked by his erratic behavior. So.... Eventually the concrete gets poured, and the vinyl wrapped porch is installed. It did look really nice... HOWEVER...... When the Village of Orland Park inspectors came by MY HOUSE DID NOT PASS INSPECTION !! Innovative Decks did not put in an expansion joint between the porch and the foundation of my house. They told me not to finish paying until Innovative Decks corrected their mistake. Ken sent over a crew to check out the best way to now install an expansion joint and there was no way to do it. I called out a private contractor to ask their opinion on the reasons for the expansion joint and he said my house will never pass inspection and this concrete will probably crack after a few 'hard Chicago winters'....And again I was told not to finish paying until it was corrected. He also advised that the only correct way to fix it is to tear up the concrete and re-pour. Now... A year later... Ken and one of his employees, Joanne came to my house. They yanked on my screen door which was locked, they looked in and knocked on windows, went to the back of my house trying to get into the backyard, the gate was locked. They left a threatening note in my door, and I called the police. Ken was informed by The Orland Park police that any contact he has with me needs to be done by certified mail only. And by the way.... THE PORCH HAS A CRACK !!! I have plenty of pictures, text messages, etc. if anyone would like to see them. Please folks, do your research before hiring any company.... Well. By looking at many other comments I should have read them before I did business with Innovative Decks. I GUESS I WAS GHOSTED, TOO!!!! I had a low deck not the taller type with lattice. With all the rain this spring I was thinking about the airflow under the deck. Basically, it is totally sealed except for a trap door for sewer cleanout at is about 18 inches by 8 inches which is closed. I spoke to a home builder about NO VENTS. He could not believe it when he inspected the deck. I also called the supplier of the deck wood. The supplier of the deck wood (I had the paperwork) also could not believe that my deck had no vents. I have since added three vents. The deck does look nice but I should have done better due diligence. Buyer beware!! Oh, I stopped by the office on July 7, 2020. I wanted Kenny the owner to stop by my home it see if vents could be added and my request was taken by a lady (Judy????) in the office. Today is December 24, 2020. I have not even received a call. I told my friend that went with me that I would never get a call back to set up an inspection. I guess I was right! She gave me a BS line and smile. We wanted to express our gratitude to Innovative Decks for the outstanding service they provided. We were interested in building a pavilion and called multiple companies. Innovative Decks was the only company that promptly called us back and set up an in person meeting to discuss our project. We met with Gina and she was extremely knowledgeable. She listened to what we wanted, offered some great suggestions for the design and agreed to get back to us with a quote the following day. She held true to her promise and we received the quote the following day. Ultimately, it was Gina that helped us create the perfect design for our pavilion. We also dealt with Judy, in the office quite often. She was always a pleasure to deal with and responded promptly to our emails. Mauricio and his construction crew were absolutely phenomenal to deal with in all aspects. Their construction skills and craftsmanship are top-notch. We felt that their dedication to detail is what made them so unique. Everything that they did was to perfection. In addition, they are probably the cleanest crew we have ever experienced. Everyday when they left, the work area was cleaned. They were also very responsive and willing to help whenever we had questions or needed to tweak the design. Ramiro and his hardscape crew also did a wonderful job constructing the bar and the brick boots for the pavilion. They went over the plans prior to doing the work and the finished product turned out awesome. I would highly recommend Innovative Decks for any future project you may be considering. These idiots promised me several items that they did not deliver on. One, they decked over my gas line, which they agreed to move. Two, they decked over my spigot, so I no longer have access to my water in the back yard. Third, the sales person, Gina, forgot that she promised lights and landscaping. She also promised to moved shrubs that they threw away. The owner wanted to not only avoid his company's failures, but he became aggressive and pounded on my door. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Had a patio put in and noticed some of the soldier brick around the edge were moving. Contacted innovative deck and was told I would be put on a work order this was back in April. It is now middle of November and still have not heard back from them after trying to make many attempts of getting the problem with the pavers rectified. Was told the work order would be four to six weeks before they could get out and it's been 7 months. My original review with this company was great but I see once they leave your home you can't get them back to fix issues that may come up. I called in they told me that they woud have her email me a quote asap still haven't recieved it . I noticed in the comments she did the same thing with someone else . I was ghosted by this deck company - The estimator Gina came to my home last Wednesday. It's now 8 days later. I need a new 12'x15' deck. Conversation seemed pretty run of the mill. Showed samples. Said that she would work on the estimate later tonight. When I hadn't gotten it by Monday I called. I was told that it's going to take way longer than that to get the estimate. I said, "I wonder why she told me she'd do it tonight then?" No response. I doubt I'll ever see one. Called another company who said he's booked out through October but will give me an estimate in July and booked an appointment. I prefer this honest up front approach. Will go with them. I called a couple weeks ago and was told they were inundated with requests for quotes and "were behind on typing them up" but come on - either you're following up or not. I am very happy and confident to recommend most highly to you Innovative Decks, Inc. We needed a 50-yr old deck to be removed and replaced with something more longlasting, more attractive, and more in line with our home and backyard. We researched multiple deck and patio companies and compared their reviews, ratings, pricing, reputation, years of service, and years of experience of their personnel; we met w/ several finalists and, when we met Gina of Innovative Decks, we knew we had found the very best company for us. Gina spent a lot of time getting to know us, and what our dream deck replacement would be. She surveyed the entire backyard, measured the old deck, provided us with a variety of alternatives, talked us through materials, price range, and so on -- she also took the time to get to know us personally, and when she left we felt very confident we had made a very good choice. Gina made sure we got the plat survey of our yard; she and Judy and her staff made sure we properly applied for the building permit; Judy kept us appraised of every aspect of the process and answered our questions or had Gina or Kenny stop by to handle any issues; and Gina even went personally to our Village Hall twice in one day to make sure everything was perfect! Once the work began we were again very impressed. Ramiro, Edgar, Jose and the crew were always on time, always very respectful, worked hard every minute they were here (every one of my neighbors who stopped by to watch said the same thing ---"these guys really work hard" -- and even both inspections of their work by our village resulted in "these guys really know what they're doing -- you chose a very good company." Kenny himself came and worked on the patio and new doorway to it, and made great suggestions along the way as well -- he even came several nights to thoroughly clean up and remove any and all the wood, dirt, gravel etc from our driveway -- all perfectly clean! Gina personally stopped by to make sure things were going well, including a 7 pm visit with Kenny to make a final checkup and look at their beautiful final product! We now have a beautiful paver patio, built to last forever and to look beautiful every day as well. Called them and scheduled and estimate in June. Gina came out June 23rd and said we would have an estimate the next day. Well 3 weeks later we got an estimate. It was double what she quoted and it didn't even include a roof! We requested a quote for a covered patio. Office doesn't answer....then they call me back and say "oh maybe she didn't know you wanted a roof"! Really...horrible experience and wasted three weeks of my time. read more

I have an existing wood deck in my backyard and contacted them for a replacement. My initial call was a good experience. A sales lady came out took measurements and got a copy of my plot survey. She left me her card and said I would be getting some quotes emailed to me but it would take a few days. i was asking for a quote on wood vs composite cost for replacement. This is where the good experience ended. I have called the main office several times and told the person does still work there but they are never in. I have never gotten past the main desk when calling and the sales lady never called me or emailed me back. My last call I was told it was there "busy season" I reminded the person at the main desk the sales lady came out in February when there was snow on the ground so i could get scheduled before the busy season!!!!!!! I would give zero stars if I could....this company built our deck and does not stand behind their work. The deck began leaning in and the floor of the deck is uneven. We had called repeatedly to have them come out and look at it. They finally come out and give some bullcrap story and excuse...told us they would fix it but we would have to pay.....After discussing it over with my husband we decided to just get it fixed considering the amount of money we paid in the first place. We called them back numerous times again and they never returned any of our calls to fix it. DON'T HIRE THEM GO ELSEWHERE....NOT A GOOD BUSINESS TO DEAL WITH! OH, one more addition we also had them extend our paver walkway to the stairs of the deck and they put the wrong color in after giving them the color of the original pavers!!!!! read more

I hired this company to build what turned out to be a very expensive room addition. In the end I was ripped off and left with thousands of dollars in repairs and additional contractor work. The owner is incompetent to the point that he can't or won't provide a decent estimate that will be adhered to. Instead he will simply keep adding in whatever he forgot and raise the price to incredible amounts above the original bid. He's difficult to communicate with, not showing up regularly, not listening to concerns and design specifications, and not remembering verbal instructions or requests to purposely do things his way (the easy way) instead of how you, the customer wants it. He cuts corners, is terrible at any finishing work and generally unpleasant to deal with. He forgets a lot of details, so if its not in writing, you're in trouble. Don't rely on his sales person and him to talk about details. You have to tell them both, separately, about any concerns, changes, etc. All this added to the worry that the owner, Ken, is a bit cuckoo and felt compelled to tell me his theory on how the air is being poisoned by the armed forces to control the organic population of the earth. This is on the order of our illuminati government that's controlled by satanists. I can't make this stuff up folks, this guy actually told me this. This is exactly what a contractor should NOT be. Don't be fooled by their low prices. The price will grow, the service is terrible as is the final product. Do yourself a favor, avoid the nightmare and go somewhere else where they have good ratings and references. read more

We had them build a patio with a fire place. We enjoy it, but the communication between Gina, the consultant and the mason was terrible. We wanted to put in another patio door. Gina said if we bought the door they would put it in. But because of timing we put it off till Spring. Now we had three window replaced and that company did the door. So I called innovative decks about the step we planned at the new door. They did not call me back. So I called Gina direct. Got an appointment. She stood me up. So I called her again. She said, " I was driving when you call and I forgot". But she never called again. So I called the mason direct. His English is not so good, so he asked me to call his son. I called and made an appointment with the son, but he did not keep that. I called another patio company. They came out and gave me an estimate of $2,000.00 for a step. But didn't want the job. It seems they have to take out about 15 tiles. They can't be reused because of the sand sealer used. So now we have one big step out of the house. Very dangerous. The other problem is the stone for the fireplace. Gina had me get twice what we needed. So we have a $900.00 pallet of stone in the driveway from Vancouver, Canada. After the shipping and restocking fees. It is worth a few hundred dollars. Gina and the mason had no plan for the fireplace, so we got stuck there too. Would not recommend. read more

For starters I would give negative stars if I could. my salesman was like a smarmy car or mattress salesman but I was having trouble finding a contractor, and a little desperate so I went with this company. The work was shoddy and sloppy. When the crew started, I gave the foreman a manufacturers instructions book he said he didn't need them. Well about an hour later he needed them. When they went about cutting bricks they didn't use a water attachment to the gas powered saws and my whole yard and half my house was covered in an 1/8th inch of dust, to the point that after they left I had to hose off my central air unit before it would function again. I later learned that in some towns the use of water to keep down the dust is code and just proper procedure, once again shoddy. When the owner Ken showed up with a couple cases of beer for his crew, i raised a concern about the workers drinking alcohol and he said it was to keep the guys happy. They had my yard torn up ,and I felt powerless to stop them. Allowing drinking and half drunk workers is not and never will be proper business protocol, not to mention me pick up leftover bottles and bottle caps for months, shoddy. Ken also complained that taking away construction debris was costing him money and wanted to charge me more, I had to tell him it was included in the price, shoddy. After they left I could see how as the work and drinking went along the work became worse there were parts not level with each other, glue slopped around to the point some even ended up on a fence 10 feet away, shoddy. I also had Ken tell me his cuckoo theories of the military planes poisoning, the country with the contrails of chemicals, and some politics thrown in for good measure, totally unprofessional. all this for an expensive lesson. This job cost a lot of money for shoddy work. all I wanted was professional conduct and quality work. In the end I got neither read more

I called to get a free estimate for a screened in portch on my house. I started giving the lady a description of what I wanted. She said she can do that for me over the phone but she had someone in there and would call me right back. I never heard from her. So a few days later, I called again and left a message. Never got a return call. I guess my project was not big enough to be hassled with. Find another company, they are many more reputable onesout there. read more

I contracted with this company to build a deck. The deck was under warranty for one year. The company used nails instead of screws to secure the wood. Two carpenters and one building inspector informed me that this company should have used screws. In under a year the deck began to creak terribly and the nails are coming up. I informed the company while the deck was still under warranty. They assured me they would fix it. They never did. I paid over $5,000.00 for this deck. The workmanship is shoddy. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more
