I recently had the misfortune of getting screwed by a welder who I ended up firing for poor workmanship and excuses. Luckily I got ahold of the fence guys who came through and repaired the horrible job the previous welder had done. To start the job they requested 15% down and nothing more until the job was completed. They completed the job, kept me informed and delivered on time. Bad experience with Shane, the co-owner. He was inflexible and doesn't respect customers. He treated ne like I was trying to chisel him, and then made changes to the agreed upon design of the fence without telling me. I had to find our from the work crew -(who were great and did a nice job) that the size of thickness of fence slats in the contract weren't available. So Shane told the crew to use a "bottom board," which changes the appearance of the fence and would rot before the rest of it. I managed to work it out with the construction crew by using thinner fence slats of the right length, but was stunned that Shane never told me about it. (Did he think I wouldn't notice the change to the specifications?") read more

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! Fence put in 2006 for cost of $6700 after listening to owner's line about high quality workmanship and standing behind their work. Just a couple of years into it, poles were sinking and fence started swaying. For two years, I've tried to get them to come back to fix it. They won't return my phone calls. I've called another company to try and fix it - they say they need parts from Fence Guys to do it as the poles they used are the cause but the holes need that precise part. Don't listen to their garbage about quality work - they use substandard materials and absolutely do not stand by their work. I strongly advise you against using this company!!! read more

We had a vinyl fence done in 2002 in Frankfort, and it was perfect! Level on all three sides. Materials in perfect condition and of high quality and the job was not a big mess all over my yard! 15 years later fence still looks like new and gates work correctly with minimal adjustments over the years. AVOID THIS COMPANY! I've had the worst experience to date with this company. He's given us at least 3 different dates that he would be here and never showed and to top it off never called. I've had to be the one to call. Kept giving me the run around weather, manufacturer then finally we said screw it were done waiting for this guy. We without knowing gave him a deposit of $2800. He said we owed him 25% for a restocking fee of something we never received. He has kept $500 of our money. So he thinks it's ok to keep money for his negligence. Worst experience I had with a fence company. Installer had an attitude once he finally showed after cancelling twice. We argued about placement of fence and he did not have all the materials and thought it was no big deal , said "you don't need it". Finally owner came after 6 hours of complaints , he brought materials needed to finish and that's what he tried to do because his employer walked off the job. He then asked for me to borrow him tools to work on gates?????? What a joke, he then proceeded to tell me his financial sob stories and how he considers me his friend and blah blah blah . Long story short gates started to drag within 4 days and could never get a call/voicemail or text returned. If you want quality work from honest people call Midwest fence not these mopes! read more

Accommodating and helpful in resolving an issue.

We just had our brand new fence installed. We were in the process of landscaping our back yard work and the gate was accidentally damaged. We called many fence companies for the repair and the process to get them to come out was painful. They wanted us to send email and pictures, and then wait for customer service to review the repair, and then wait longer for the actual estimate. We even had companies not return phone calls. Not only were the other companies difficult to deal but their estimates for the repair were extremely expensive. After weeks of trying to get our gate repaired, a friend recommended The Fence Guys as they installed her fence years ago and recently also repaired their gate. The owner, Robert Jones immediately called and texted me regarding the repair. He asked that I send him a picture via text. Within the half hour he gave me a price for the repair which was more than half the costs of every other estimate we received. He came out within days, repaired the gate and looks like brand new. I would highly recommend The Fence Guys. The Fence Guys is a smaller, local business and with times as bad as they are the smaller companies really need the community and their business. The Fence Guys was such a let down! I did my shopping, got estimates from several companies, and chose The Fence Guys because the salesman had me convinced they were the best. WRONG! They never call you back if you have a problem or complaint. I actually had to call and say I wanted an estimate to get a response!!! When the sales guy showed up at my house, he just shook his head. When I got hime into the yard to show him all of the problems, he assured me they would have someone out to reset the posts that had come almost 8 inches out of the ground. And to also fix both gates that no longer stayed closed because the posts had heaved out of the ground. Of course, nobody EVER showed up, nor would they return any of my calls. Needless to say, I had to PAY another fencing company to come and redo the majority of the posts and rehang the fence and gates. We could no longer let our dog out alone, because he could easily walk under the fence! They were appalled at the workmanship of the Fence Guys! I gave them money 9/13/10 for materials to reconfig part of my fence (which they installed in 2005). They said it would be a few wks to get materials. I started calling in Oct when it was expected & got several excuses... and then at the end of Oct, I was told the order had never been processed. I was told the order was reentered 10/26/11 as a rush. After calling again, I was told it was to ship 11/12/10 (so ready to install wk of Nov 15th). I kept calling without a response & finally got a message the day b4 they would be here (this is now 3 months into this ordeal). They installed on 12/11/10 & it started to snow. They left my yard mess (piles of dirt/garbage, dirt on some plants which I'm trying to save & 3 holes) and they did not complete the work. I'm also having problems with the back gate they put in. I've called for weeks now that the weather is warm in hopes of getting the back gate fixed & balance of work done. I cleaned up my yard and have filed a BBB complaint. read more

BEWARE!!!! RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!!!! We had a few different people come out for estimates and decided on The Fence Guys the were reasonable and Chris really made us feel confident with the work they'd do. Conveniently my boyfriend DID NOT read any of the reviews, and had he I would have refused to work with them. We have had all the same problems listed in reviews below. They said 4-5 weeks for the product to come in and we wait 5 weeks before we started calling and didn't hear back until 6/7 weeks. They come to remove our existing fence and we have trees grown into it which is clear to see if, I don't know you HAVE EYES! So we now have to pay MORE to have the remaining fence and trees pulled! The door was half in the yard half in our driveway which would have left a huge gap at the bottom for my small dog to get out! DEFEATING THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF THE DAMN FENCE! The guys showed up to start working and there is already problems with what Chris mapped out for him! Now I'm reading about all the problems after jobs are complete! I AM TELLING ALL FRIENDS AND FAMILY NEVER TO USE AND I AM GOING OUT OF MY WAY TO POST MY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE GUYS EVERYWHERE I CAN. STEER CLEAR AND PAY THE EXTRA MONEY ITS WELL WORTH IT read more
