He listened to me describe mine and my yard's individual need. I had a nightmare situation of invasive tree roots growing from under the fence from adjoining neighbors excessively thorny trees. The consequence were thorny tree shoots growing throughout my backyard and its sucker branches popping up on every 2-3 inches along the way. It eventually took over my lawn area by 25ft + in every direction. And it was growing longer! This made it impossible to walk on the lawn and enjoy without being stabbed and bloodied by long sharp thorns. I needed these tree roots traced and dug out completely all the way to the fence line before applying new landscaping. Gaspar and Henry did an excellent job of removing each one of these multiple roots by hand digging. Very laborious and yet they handled it well in the hot summer sun and doing a complete and excellent job. They did it quickly and I thank them tremendously. I had to make the hard but wise choice of not re-sodding and no longer having a lawn. Just two years later we started noticing that the window directly under the awning was leaking during severe weather. (So once or twice a winter) it has been a nightmare ever since. I called Salens to have them come inspect. They did not come out. They gave me the number of the company who did the awning. My husband and I both reached out to them to NO RESPONSE. At that point I felt like I wasn't going to get help from Salens or this other company. I reached out to several awing companies and explained the issues I was having, to see if they would come inspect the work. To no surprise very few people felt comfortable inspecting work that wasn't theirs. I found someone who did come out, pulled back flashing, recaulked, and sealed some cracks around the area. This helped initially but the leaking came back. I had a leak detection company come out and they couldn't replicate the leak. At this point my option is to pull the awning down and throw 6,000 down the drain or cut a whole inside my home in the drywall to see where it's leaking. Pulling the awning down will require me to completely resucco the backside of my home. Theres no visible damage from the leaking. Our Insurance company couldn't find the source and declared it wasn't from a storm. I called Salens back because I really wanted to speak to the owner about this and I left a message with another staff member. It's been two weeks with no call back. All of this to say I would vet the subcontractors this company uses. I also would not recommend drilling into stucco !

I am not a happy camper ... the end of August, I had Charlie order 670 Sqft . of Blue-Rye (High…read moreQuality) Sod and have his crew install the sod for me ... This is only because I am way too old to be on my hands and knees, for the time needed to lay the sod myself. In retrospect, I regret that I didn't ...l as I WOULD HAVE DONE a much more professional job. Instead, I gave them a tip ... only because I didn't have to put the sod Down... and didn't see "HOW POOR of a JOB" until the morning after ... The sod was local fresh cut from Delta Bluegrass Company here in Stockton and was of excellent quality cut rolls. The "Installation of it" was not. Left with poorly laid, gap-ridden, and torn sides on a few rolls from poor handling techniques, I was less than impressed. Having said that, grass can be repaired ... which the next morning, I proceeded to fill in all the gaps between the sod with topsoil, and had to buy some "expensive" Blue-Rye seed that is very hard to come by ... to fill in the seams and oversees a few other areas ... Even though the sod was poorly laid ... that is all correctable easily enough. My Main issue was the "lack of quality" and general overall "professionalism" ... I had reminded them several times to watch to not step on my sprinkler heads and I had spent a week on getting them adjusted and set to the proper depth... I witnessed them step on a few of them more than once, on several different occasions. The Biggest insult was when they had finished and had time to test the sprinkler coverage, someone forgot to cut out the opening for the sprinkler to "Pop up" ... so, when they tried to find it, stepping all over the sprinkler head and compressing it even further down in the ground. This now cannot be repaired until the sod has had a chance to firmly grow in place and establish itself before I can dig it up to repair the groundwork and raise the sprinkler heads back up to height. I would recommend "Delta Bluegrass Company" for your SOD, but I would think twice before hiring "Delta Charlie Sod" for installation work. Unless he does the work himself or brings a professional team of installers. One that won't undo 3 weeks of prep work to undo in an hour-and-a-halftimespan ... If I had the money, I would literally tear off 2/3rds of the sod, and redo my sprinkler heads, (3 of 8 were stepped on and compressed lower, one is requiring correction within about 6 weeks... the others can wait unless they sink lower once I START MOWING. so, I feel I got a great deal on the sod, negated by unprofessional workmanship. I felt Charlie knew what he was doing, but his crew was "Clueless".

Here's the difference - I had 5 quotes, none of them listened to what my wife and I wanted. Chris is the only one who listened to our ideas and enhanced them with his expertise. He was not the cheapest quote we got, but he was the most thorough. The project: complete front yard demo, build stairs surrounded by modern landscaping leading to a courtyard with custom planter boxes and lighting throughout. Chris gave us a timeline for the project and stuck with it. His crew, lead by Jorge, arrived on time everyday and cleaned up before they left for the day. It was a big, 2 week project and they finished on time. The entire crew was polite, waved at my kids everyday and worked hard. Project manager Jorge knew what needed to be done everyday and his team executed. Chris worked with our busy schedule, listened to all of our concerns and was quick to act or change directions as needed. Never once did he make us feel like we were not the most important client to him. There is always hesitance when thinking about pulling the trigger on a job that would cost a hefty 5 figures, but when the day we saw the finished product, our jaws dropped. They did such a good job in every aspect. Chris and Jorge clearly know what to do and how to do it. We have had non stop compliments from our neighbors, friends and family members. Chris gave us a beautiful court yard to enjoy and elevated our house's curb appeal to stand out. We have done many projects in the past and have never felt this good.
