They have anexcellent collection of frames for all sizes needed. I needed frames with a 155km Tenple length and they are basically the only local place that carries that size. I stopped by to fix a broken temple on my glasses and spoke with Kathy. She was very knowledgeable and helped answer my questions about maintaining my shades. My glasses were quickly repaired and the lenses buffed up. When I asked how much it would cost, she said "nothing." Although this was a minor repair, they could have charged a token amount. I was really disappointed in Insight Eyewear, and I really wanted to like this place. They have a great selection but their customer service was beyond horrid. I was helped by a lady named Cathy and she was extremely rude. She didnt take the time to understand what I was trying to explain to her. She just pushed the most expensive glasses on me and when I wasn't receptive she completely shut down and ignored me to help someone else in the office. This place is outstanding. My glasses accidentally got stepped on. they were totally bent out of shape, but the lenses were still attached. The glasses were definitely not wearable anymore, though. But these guys were able to fix them in a minute. Not only that, they didn't charge ANYTHING. They bent them back proper in a matter of seconds and charged nothing. Oh! I have been a client of this store for years! I have always been able to find the perfect pair of glasses for what my needs are...I went into the store yesterday to pick up a pair of readers. I met with the owner, Cathy. Due to Covid, I needed to have an appointment and I did not. She asked me what my needs were and checked my customer file. She then pulled out the most perfect pair of glasses. I can read again (and the glasses are way more stylish than the ones I bought at Costco). I spoke with Cathy a bit. She did something so kind for me. What I want everyone to think about is that every time we go into a business, we vote with our dollars. Cathy is a business owner who truly is there to help people. Used to be good, but. I bought a pair of specs through Insight some years ago and they were lovely--expensive but great lenses, no scratching or clarity degradation at all over a few years. So I ordered a second pair through them and they weren't so great. Easily scratched (despite scratch coating) (and, interestingly, on only one lense) and just... wrong. Weird blurriness, too hard to focus close-up, vision sliding sideways (this isn't uncommon with first-time wearers of graduated lenses, but I've had some years of practice). I took them back three times trying just to get clear vision and each time they said it was a fit issue. They adjusted, I tried again... no dice. Finally just gave up. Turns out, my optometrist said the lenses were made wrong. The diopters in the lenses were in the wrong place. I had asked Insight to check the first time I went in to be sure the lenses were made right, they checked and swore they were right. I'm inclined to believe my optometrist as he had no dog in that fight. He told me to wear my old specs for a while, swore I'd be able to read better, and he was right. I'm super-unhappy about this--three years of distorted vision and inability to read. I went from reading scores of books a year to reading maybe three. Reading is a huge part of my life and I am deeply irked that Insight didn't make the lenses right and then wouldn't fess up to it. Their specs are not cheap by a longshot. And they did used to be worth it. Not so any more, and if you've bought from them and are having problems with your specs, take them back to your optometrist and double-check that they've been made properly. And get them made elsewhere next time. read more

WORST customer service. Bought a pair of frames in cash. Took them to my optometrist to have the Rx lenses put into them, but I was unable to have it done. 3 days after purchase, I called to let the folks at Insight know that I needed to return the frames. It was then that I was advised that all sales were final. When I went in to purchase the frames, there was no mention that if I walked out the door, that was that. There were no signs with this information on the counter or on any of the displays. Nor was it printed on the receipt or anywhere near their cash registers. When I went in to discuss my situation with the manager (who never called me back) the sign was pointed out to me. It was above a door frame, in an area that I doubt anyone has ever noticed. Especially someone who obviously needed glasses. I was told that the reason they couldn't return the frames was they were considered a medical device. Their policy is not what I have an issue with, it's their obstinate attitude in not admitting that their customer service and signage is sorely lacking. I have been getting glasses at Costco for many years. At first that was OK because I had gained some extra weight, which compensated for the oversized glasses that I purchased. Now, that I am thin again, the crew at Costco are having great difficulty fitting my glasses. No matter what, I am in a lot of pain! My neighbor told me about Insight. She said that they have a large selection and that I should go there. I looked at online reviews. Some of them said that Insight will adjust your glasses at no charge, even if you didn't buy them there. I was so desperate, around a week or so ago, that I decided to ask them if I could do just that. I was quite embarrassed when I had to tell Patricia why I came in. She was very polite and made me feel welcome. The first thing she said was, "Who picked out these glasses for you?" I told her that I had, which is true. While I like the people, especially Carla, the Manager, Costco is a big box store, and while reasonably priced, you can't get that kind of service, like having someone help you pick out glasses. I'm 5'4" and weigh less than 120 lbs. Even thought I have told the people at Costco that I have to buy kids size hats or they are too big, they have never offered me a kid/youth frame. Admittedly, I have a wide view and prefer glasses with a wide lens, adult frames often don't fit my size. Patricia showed me a small case with several styles in my size to choose from. She told me to try one on, not for looks, but to get the feel. Whenever my Costco glasses feel good, they slip off, tighten them and I am in pain. I am happy that I found a place that carried frames my size. Then, Patricia sat me down for an adjustment. She told me that my glasses were too long and stuck out very far in the back because they don't fit my petite head. She said that she could cut them down and asked if I would like that. I was amazed that she could do that! She cut a segment of the arms out and reattached. I saw a large assortment of tools on the bench. How wonderful, I thought, to have a place that was old school, like when I was a kid. Back then, there was no such thing as Lenscrafters, only private practice. I told Patrica that I would be buying frames from them from now on. "We're more expensive." No doubt that's true, however, you are paying for knowledge and skill. Yes, I could buy a cheap frame at Costco, and I will pay with my sanity!!! Whatever the price, it's well worth it! These people are the real deal here. I want to thank the owner, Kathy, for setting up shop and hiring qualified personnel. My pain is gone! I can't thank you enough, Patricia and Kathy! I'm your new lifetime customer. read more

They said that they were familiar with my vision insurance and that most of the cost would be covered. Well, my insurance only covered a little over 15% of my total. The quality of the glasses is just the beginning of the service I received at Insight. I went in with a friend who was picking out glasses and I had just had a bad experience at my eye doctor. They recommended two eye doctors. I went to one who was incredible! And I got news about my eyes that my previous doctor didn't give me. I moved to Alaska in 2013 for a year, then returned to CA and moved to Sacramento. I was visiting the Monterey peninsula this week, when both my pairs of glasses broke. What comedic timing to have this happen, when it's unlikely two would be effected at the same time. One broke due to pressure on the delicate frame from big oversized sunglasses. The other was old, saved as a backup pair, and failed by breaking at the bridge when I put it on. I raced to my favorite eyewear store and as usual they delivered excellent service, in a warm and friendly way. Both pair were usable again within an hour, so I could continue on my journey. Can't decide between one or two - so I'm being generous. Cathy does carry a nice selection of frames, but they're way overpriced. She does do a good job fitting glasses, but a lot of attitude and pressure goes along with it. After moving from California to North Carolina, I could not stand looking through the scratched up lenses any longer - the only time in my life (1) that she or anyone talked me into an AR coating, and (2) that my lenses were badly scratched up - very obvious cause and effect. So I just got new lenses here in NC, but they're giving me eyestrain (yes, the insanity continues). So I called Cathy to ask for my info from 3 years ago: segment height and PD. She had no problem identifying me on the phone. She had the info I wanted. But despite the fact that I paid her an exorbitant fee for getting lenses made back then, she wouldn't give me my most basic info. Why? Apparently, another patient in the past blamed her for work done by some other optician. It doesn't make sense, and it's just more evidence that she looks out for her customers - but only when she feels like it. read more

While visiting Monterey CA on vacation my sunglasses broke and I visited Insight for repair. Although I purchased the glasses in Minnesota they willingly fixed them for me plus gave me a cloth glass bag for carrying the glasses. When I asked how much I owed the salesperson said that sInce I am on vacation it was no charge. She wanted me to have relaxing and enjoyable time while in Montery. Finding great customer service is difficult so if you are shopping for glasses in Montery CA, Insight is the place to shop. read more

Insight Eyewear has a huge selection of frames and incredibly knowledgeable staff. I walked in there frustrated because my regular eye place simply didn't have anything I liked. The person who helped me listened to what I wanted, brought over a pair of frames for me to try, and they were perfect! The quality of my complicated progressive lenses was also excellent. I often have to return my lenses a couple of times before they get it right, but Insight Eyewear got it right the first time. The only thing I was a little bit frustrated with was the expensive clip on sunglasses, which didn't really fit the lenses well. But to Insight's credit, they diagnosed the problem and returned them to the manufacturer to have it corrected. read more

Do not buy the in-house polycarb lenses called "Ahoya" (not sure of exact spelling). At the time of purchase, the sales person raved that they were very good lenses which they all used with no problem, so I went for it. They cost me $200 (so not exactly cheap!). But after just over a year, the left side started peeling and they had to replace it. And now the right side started peeling! When I explained the problem I was having, instead of standing behind their product, they blamed me for rubbing it too hard. I take excellent care of my glasses and I have been wearing glasses for 30 years and never had such a problem in my life! Go figure... read more

I have been going here for eight years. They've done the impossible, made shopping for glasses fun. They have a huge selection of frames and will work with you. I just tell Kathy, the owner, to pick out what she thinks will look good and she does. They stand behind their work and have been almost magical with fixing or swapping out frames. Hints: it can get busy and since they care about each customer you may have to wait. The work around is call in advance for an appointment, ask for Kathy. They have a wide range of prices. Don't be timid about saying that you want lower or moderately priced glasses. I can't recommend Insight highly enough. read more

Terrible customer service. I called to ask about a particular frame and whether they have them in stock or if they can order them for me, the women's response was "you can't shop over the phone, you need to come in." And that was the extent of her help. When I explained I had a baby and wanted to find out if they could order them for me before making the trip down, she still refused to check on the frames. This place rocks as far as style and know-how go. However, after I purchased a pair of "blended" prescription glasses, I returned with a fit problem, and explained that the frames were leaving a gouge in the bridge of my nose. The owner adjusted the fit and due to some glare I was experiencing, suggested upgrading my lenses to non-glare. So I paid the additional money ($$$) to upgrade to non-glare, blended lenses. I continued to have the gouge problem and returned again several weeks later for another adjustment - perhaps we should look at a different style frame? No, she felt sure she could adjust them to work. You guessed it....I left, had the same problem and had to return again for another adjustment. I live far away from this store, so it is not a simple return the next day to make further adjustments. Since the fourth adjustment, all in the span of a few months, I continued to have a gouge mark on the bridge of my nose. Since they were uncomfortable, I found myself taking them off constantly, and switching whenever I could to my prescription sunglasses, which leave no marks and are comfortable (and were bought elsewhere). The sad final chapter is that I took them off one too many times, and lost them! This was a very expensive lesson. Good customer service might dictate that they offer a store credit to purchase a different pair of glasses that actually fit..... never offered! read more
