    Very disappointed kids!!

We arrived at 4:30 for our 4:45 booking and nobody showed up! We waited around until 5:15 and then finally left. We called and emailed with no reply! What a complete scam!! We had 10 very disappointed people!!

Even though we didn't escape I had fun!! Went with my coworkers for a team building event. Our manager picked the hardest room!!!! With a bunch of A type personalities we did not complete the room lol. The clues were hard but they are great for making you think!! I would go back with friends or for a double date. I'm thinking of taking my son as well since he thinks he knows everything! Lol We did the patient room. Hardest room the have apparently some genius group got through in 24mins!!!! Wow

My family visited Insomnia Escape Room while vacationing in National Harbor over Christmas break. Since there were 10 of us, we just booked the entire room. We chose the room with the Stranger Things theme, as we had a wide age range and did not want to choose anything that would be too difficult. We were able to request clues easily, and everyone was able to participate and lead us to an important clue. We ended up solving the room, which was a great way to end our visit. I would definitely go back again when in the area, as this was my favorite out of all of the escape rooms I've been to so far.

I would advise parties of four or fewer request an Escape room that's a level 6 or below. Our group consisted of 8 people (4 couples) and all hands were on deck in The Alchemist Escape room which was a level 8. We literally were finishing our last clue when time ran out. Overall it was a great time and everyone had a blast. We "called for clues" (you wave at the camera and someone from the front desk will answer you) three times during our time. One of the three times, we waited 10mins to get a clue so be mindful to request additional time if your call for help goes unanswered for an extended period of time if there's only one person working the desk. Now, they may or may not grant you an additional 5 extra mins but it's worth a try. Another party we were with received an additional 5mins and escaped, they were in the AI (artificial intelligence room, level 6). Once your group is locked in the room, you have 60mins to solve the scattered clues after a brief story is told and door closed/locked. The Alchemist is a trick escape room, we thought we were done w/ our 9 clues all early and then... a trap door opened and we were like... wait, there's another room?!?! OMG, the pressure truly turned up then. Lol Some logistics Parking: If you can find a spot, parking is free on the weekends. We were lucky to find parking, street side directly in front of the entrance. Building Entrance: Once you walk up the stairs into the building, you'll see a set of elevators to take to level 2. COVID: A temperature check is not performed however, mask are required. Once the escape room door is closed, mask can come off while it's just your party.

The interior of the restaurant is stunning. The big pink chandelier was a beautiful design element and the rest of the interior follows suit with gorgeous gold accents. We did not make reservations but luckily they had an opening around 6:30pm, keep in mind this was also during the week but would highly recommend reservations as more guests arrived later in the night. Our server, was amazing! I did not get her name but she has brunette hair and she was so attentive and just the sweetest. She answered all of our questions regarding what her favorite dish was and provided recommendations. She also gave us some complimentary mango flavored drinks from the bar which was so refreshing. We ended up ordering the following: ISLA oxtail patties, Grilled Lamb chops, Bara with goat curry, fried snapper and a side of Mac Pie. The oxtail patties were absolutely delicious with the mango pepper sauce and nicely seasoned. It comes with 3 patties which is enough to share with two people. The grilled lamb chops were also good but the sauce took it to the next level. I will be honest, I had more high hopes for the fried snapper. It was good but not as flavorful as I thought it would be. It comes with a small side of the escovitch which compliments it but maybe it's missing something additional. My friend had more of the curry goat Bara which was also nicely seasoned with the piece I tried. I'm a Mac and cheese gurly, so I loved the Mac Pie. It has a slight smoky and sweet flavor which I enjoyed. We were stuffed after all this food so unfortunately didn't get dessert but would love to try another time. Our bill came up to $200 which was I believe a wonderful deal for the amount of food, and amazing service and ambience. It was great to see diversity in the guests that enjoyed this delicious Caribbean cuisine. There was no long wait for our food and I even had leftovers which they boxed up for me. I 10/10 recommend experiencing ISLA!

We ordered the oysters, tempura okra, grilled prawns, fried snapper, and fried brussels sprouts. The oysters were surprisingly bland, especially considering they came with a scotch bonnet mignonette. I really enjoyed the flavor profile of the tempura okra, though it was a bit soggy. Not sure if that's intentional, but the taste itself was great. The grilled prawns and fried snapper were just okay. We both felt it needed a little more seasoning. And the brussel sprouts were also pretty bland. A scoop of sorbet was brought out for my birthday and that was great. Overall I was a bit shocked at the blandness and lack of flavor considering this place is supposed to be caribbean inspired. I'll likely come back just for the drinks!

Of course my friend is a member and if I'm lucky, someday I will be too. It started off as I walked up the sidewalk and approached the club, the doorman was standing on the sidewalk. As I got closer, the doorman greeted me by name! I was taken a back for a minute wondering how could he possibly know my name! I was escorted in and asked to wait in the main reception while they went to get my friend. I went into what they refer to as the "Correspondence Lounge" which is sort of a small library with some incredibly old literary works. They have very strict rules and one of surprise is no use of cell phones... period. How refreshing! You can go into the Correspondence Lounge if you need to use your phone but otherwise you cannot use while in the dining room or other public areas. So make sure you "check-in" on Yelp when you are outside. Naturally they have a dress code, but really, if you have to ask what the dress code is, you probably aren't going to this place. Another rule I was surprised is they try to keep business limited so you cannot bring out a bunch of papers, laptop, etc... The only papers you can hold would have to be a newspaper or a book. Once seated, the service is impeccable. Extremely polite and not overbearing. They knew when we were engrossed in conversation and didn't interrupt. I had the lump crab cake for dinner and it was without a doubt the BEST! I lived in Virginia for five years and went to college at George Washington so I'm quite familiar with East Coast seafood and I can honestly say the lump crab at the Metropolitan Club is the BEST! I could go on about this place but simply put, if you have the opportunity to go, don't pass that opportunity up for what will end up being one of the greatest dining experiences of your life.

Best of all, our guests love DACOR Bacon and come back each year. The house is an elegant Federal brick building (1801), home of John Marshall when he was on the Supreme Court. It is decorated with beautiful antiques and paintings. If you're having a large event, the garden AND the house are able to accommodate 180 people. When we wanted to rent a tent for dancing under outside, they helped us. When we wanted great DJs, they helped find them. For smaller events, the house is wonderful for a cocktail party, lunch or dinner. It retains its beautiful old world charm and is located just a stone's throw from the White House.
