Doctos are great and really know their stuff. Quite no-nonsense, too. They care about the whole patient and spend time discussing symptoms and explaining approaches. They're not watching the clock or reaching for the prescription pad immediately. And thankfully their recommendations are not structured around what insurance covers or doewsn't cover, Such a breath of fresh air from conventional medicine. Not sure how I feel about the office staff; some are super professional and responsive, and some not so much. I've had to wait to be seen for half an hour, despite arriving on time. Not sure but it seems they love their regular patients and give them priority. Office is clean and relaxing; supplements are not outrageously expensive as at other similar places, and, frankly, their fees are lower than those of their counterparts out in the suburbs. read more

I really like the doctors and think they are knowledgeable, skilled and compassionate, but communications are abysmal. I've had to ask them to resend referrals multiple times and sometimes have had to wait for test results for over a week after the testing facility told me they'd been sent. Also, they will try and sell you supplements from their dispensary which are notably more expensive than can be purchased elsewhere. read more

The doctors are good here but the fee structure is terrible as they operate like a business, for a holistic clinic they have lost sensitivity. The patients here HAVE to take their yearly membership which is $600 or monthly $50, only if this membership is taken you get access to doctors on the portal. To be able to access your doctor you will have call the clinic and that another issue as no one picks up the call. If you choose not to take this membership you cannot access your doctor after your visit, you wont be able to give them an update on your health or ask them any questions pertaining new treatments. Also, you will have to pay $60 extra every visit and this payment is apart from your insurance payment. For being a holistic clinic they definitely dont have a holistic policy! People come to natural treatment after experiencing and losing hope and money with other hospital cum business structures. In such a desperate need ICM seem to be doing a good job with this policy to retain their patients and looting them. read more

The NDs I saw (Carvlin and Courtney) were good listeners, empathetic and had a good holistic approach. After finishing treatment here, I cant help but reflect back on all the money I've spent and how much of a money gauge this place is. They charge you money every time you see them (outside of my copay), requested I buy a bunch of supplements, and then requested I come for visceral massage which meant six follow up appointments. I came for digestive concerns and they also recommended a nutrition test and highly recommended an 'energy field test' rather than a standard blood test... Anytime they could ask for or recommend a service that cost money they would and it seems like they don't do evidence-based suggestions here which seems a little skeevy... I am all for naturopaths and holistic medicine but I think you can find equally caring providers who don't penny pinch. read more

I would not recommend this clinic at all. The provider was very eager to prescribe a bunch of expensive supplements without thought to side effects, resulting in having to leave work due to multiple episodes of vomiting. The purpose behind our visit was food sensitivity testing, which the doctor forgot to order along with other blood work. It took nearly 3 months and multiple phone calls to discover this oversight. Needed to find a new primary care doctor after switching insurance. Gave this place a try. Made appointment for a wellness exam. Doctor was great, and I left my appointment feeling good about this place. A month later got a surprise bill for the full amount of my exam. Insurance did not cover because it was not coded as a wellness exam. When I spoke with the clinic about why, they said it was because we talked about "specific medical concerns" (seriously, what!?). They refused to change the coding and I was left with a surprise $300 bill. Will not be going back. read more

I have been working with Janci Karp for several years now and she has been fantastic. I have a chronic illness that various MDs have been unable to diagnose. They all gave up when they couldn't fit it into a neat diagnosis. I saw a naturopath somewhere else during that time who did help, but not nearly as much as Janci. Janci listens and has a great deal of knowledge across allopathic and naturopathic methods. Most importantly, she has found ways to help me be as healthy as I can be. Without her, I don't think I would be healthy to hold down a job. Everyone else at the office is genuine and easy to work with. I saw Dr. Celmer once when Janci was unavailable and she was kind and knowledgeable as well. The only possible exception is the billing person, but not too bad. read more

I needed support with IV iron immediately, and this place delivered. They are ferritin friendly provides which is hard to find. Thankful for this option as I cannot take oral iron. I like Dr. Carvlin, she partners with me and is helping get to the ROOT of my issues. A monthly membership is required, I do the $19 p/month. Most special tests like GI, urine, auto-immune, etc are NOT covered by insurance so make sure to budget as it's not cheap, but if you're desperate to get your life back after a decade like me than it's worth it! I highly recommend Dr. Dobbs for hands-on care. I have worked with him repeatedly for different injuries and trust his ability to help. He listens well when I have described where I was experiencing pain and then pulls from what seems a boundless tool bag of techniques. I have benefited from spinal manipulation and various hands-on massage-like methods, as well as nutritional supplementation or herbal recommendations. I went to Dr. Dobbs for care after an accident that included a concussion and neck and back pain; I went to him for work on a mysterious pain in my foot that was preventing me from being able to walk normally; he has helped me with wrist pain; and other times for more mild neck and back discomfort. He is kind and respectful; he does not rush through intake or treatment; and he takes the whole picture into consideration--mind, body, and spirit. read more

I highly recommend Forest Dobbs ND as a physician for orthopedic and musculoskeletal problems. He takes the time to listen, diagnose and develop a comprehensive treatment plan. He was excellent in helping me with a shoulder rotator tear that was painful and limiting. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) was the best solution and he was meticulous in the injections and the after-care. It took me a long time to find a naturopathic doctor that I trusted. I went through several wacky places first, including one woman who said that an ear is the key to all parts of the body and then measured my magnetism and sent me on my way. But thankfully I found the Institute of Complementary Medicine. I love ICM. I've been going for about seven years. I saw mainly Dr. Eileen Stretch for a long time, and she's wonderful: funny, professional, hard-working, thoughtful, intuitive, knowledgeable, and full of years of expertise. I've also seen several of the other doctors; all are excellent. Today, I saw Kim Celmer and she does what must be the fastest pap in the west (thank god). What I love most about ICM is that the doctors mix western science and traditional practice and knowledge to create plans for you that are holistic and integrative. They are certainly focused on the preventative, and you will get the requisite herbs, natural pills, and tinctures--as you would from most naturopaths--with the idea that you are maintaining your health each day. But, I've also gotten antibiotics and pharmaceuticals from them in acute situations or when the natural medicines aren't cutting it. I like having that choice a lot. There's nothing woo-woo about the place. It's very professional, and it is clear that the doctors really know their stuff. Oh yeah, they also have a nutritionist and an oncologist! read more

I'm very disappointed in ICM. I filled out their contact form 3 weeks ago asking them to contact me to answer some questions. They never responded back, so today I called them. The receptionist answered and I explained about their lack of response. She checked on it and said that she had passed along my information but no one had acted on it. To me this is a definite lack of professionalism. I again explained my situation and asked if anyone in their office had the expertise to deal with it. She said that she had never heard of my issue and didn't think anyone there would be of any help. At least she was honest about that. They certainly were of no help what-so-ever. read more

The doctor is great! But, you are charged a $60 fee to see/talk to your doctor every time you go to the clinic + a $15 fee for PPE infection and control that just found out now after I got home and saw the invoice they sent me. If you don't want to pay the visiting fee, then you need to buy a membership of about $30/month. When I questioned the front desk why I wasn't informed about these charges on my first visit, or even when i scheduled my first visit over the phone she said she didnt know the answer because she was a new employee. Also, they informed me of these fees after my second appointment was over, so I didn't even have a chance to decline that appt and not pay for those fees. In addition, during my first visit, I bought one of the probiotics they sell recommended by the doctor I saw for $40. They didn't have it in stock, so i paid for the product and agreed to have it shipped to me once they had it in stock. They never told me the product had arrived at their clinic, I had to email them and ask about it. They replied saying the product was already shipped and delivered. The USPS tracking number they provided said the product was delivered, but I never received anything. I tried to open a claim with the USPS, but am very limited on information being the receiver and not the sender of a package. I have emailed the clinic and they haven't showed any desire to help me to encounter this lost package they shipped me. Anyways, I am very disappointed with the lack of honesty about their businesses. read more

While the doctors seemed really knowledgeable and nice, be careful because they continue to bill you years later. I just received a bill from a service in Nov. of 2016 (it's Nov. of 2018) for $50 which they "found" when cleaning up their systems. I'm sure my clients would appreciate me billing them years after. I have mixed feelings about ICM. I suffered from chronic GI problems before giving up on traditional Western medicine and seeking help from a naturopath, and I found a great one in Kim Celmer. After my first visit, I felt that for the first time in years someone had actually listened to my problems & taken a close look at my history, and I felt optimistic. It took a couple tries but we did eventually learn what had been causing my issues and now I have a solid recovery plan. Other doctors never came close, just kept sending me in for different (and invasive!) exams and procedures. That said, one problem I continue to have with ICM EVERY time I visit, regardless of time of day, is that I'm kept waiting. I usually wait for at least 15 minutes. One morning I was the first appointment of the day and had to wait almost half an hour. Ridiculous. When I called recently to schedule an appointment with Dr. Celmer to go over some test results that had come in, I was told she wanted to meet with me in person. If that was inconvenient (which it was), the receptionist told me I could have a phone consultation and be charged $50 for every 15 minutes. Obviously I scheduled an appointment to go in personally, but when I got there I wasn't even in their calendar! My appointment vanished. Since the other person had not yet arrived the doctor quickly pulled me in and we rushed through the results, she recommended I check out a couple books from the library that would answer more of my questions, and then I was charged the full copay. WTF? If you are more patient than I am I recommend trying this place out, because when they have time for you they actually do a great job. Just be sure to call ahead and verify your appointment exists before you leave work early and spend 45 minutes on a bus in order to get there. read more

My wife had a good experience here so I gave it a try for a problem that two MDs had not been able to help me with. The "doctor" did a lot of stuff that had nothing to do with my problem like hitting my knee with a rubber mallet upon every visit. He prescribed some kind of exotic "medicine" that was difficult to purchase and which aggravated my symptom. They tested me for allergies by having me hold bottles of liquid samples while a machine beeped and buzzed. I went with an open mind willing to try anything. Now I feel a fool. What quackery. I went to two more MDs and finally got help from the fourth. read more

I just had another incredible visit with Dr. Celmer. She is honestly one of the most top notch health care providers I've ever encountered. There is always thought given and a great explanation to any health condition I bring to her attention. Office staff a not on the ball but Dr Karp is worth it!! I made an appointment with Janci Karp a month ago prior to seeing her. The woman I talked to when I made the appointment clearly stated that she took my insurance. Then three days prior to my visit I get a call stating that, "o no she is out of network for you. You can call your insurance but I doubt we take it. You can come to us but be prepared to pay it all yourself." I was REALLY REALLY annoyed but I contacted my insurance and got it in writing that Dr Karp indeed was one of their providers. I went in and the office staff was friendly but made a few mistakes. So my advice is always be on the ball when talking with the staff. However, Dr. Karp is AMAZING!!! I had been seeing another ND somewhere else for over a year and was getting worse and not better. In one appointment Dr. Karp has had more insight and ideas of how to help that are actually working than my old doc had in the entire year. She's also really friendly, listens, and is really interested in helping you achieve and sustain wellness. She is well worth the time! I would recommend her to anyone. read more

I have been seeing Dr Celmer for close to 3 years for multiple reasons and now just as my primary Dr. If you are looking for someone to get to the bottom of unanswered health issues, she is hands down the Dr you want. She is more thorough than any Dr I have ever seen in Washington and California. She takes her time with you and really cares about her patients. She has a memory like no other. I drive 1 hour without traffic to go to her office and she is completely worth it. I have also seen other Doctors at ICM when she is unavailable and have been very pleased with them as well. She is worth waiting to get an appointment with. I haven't had the wait problems like other patients reviews but then again I know it's a Dr office and they can't help when someone else is late or if they get behind. Just the other week I waited an hour and a half at Seattle Children's for my daughters appt and it was well worth the wait. Great Doctors are hard to find. And I'm so thankful I found Dr Celmer and her colleagues. read more

ICM is a great clinic with friendly physicians. Dr. Sacksteder does an amazing quarterly group cleanse for 28 days. She hosts weekly classes for the group, providing support for the group, endless amounts of knowledge on topics related to the cleanse, as well as a delicious home-cooked meal! I highly recommend this cleanse for any and everyone, no matter where your starting point is. It is truly a whole mind-body healing experience. I first started seeing Dr. Stretch, who has since retired, and am now seeing Dr. Bower there. I have chronic health problems, and am dealing with things that are currently undiagnosed. Dr. Bower, and every doctor I have seen there are wonderful. I have been to over 15 doctors in the western medical field and ICM has helped me more than the majority of them. They are also very respectful and honestly care about helping you. Dr. Bower is amazing, and is really on my side and actively helping me figure out the puzzle that is my current health situation. I am a big fan of ICM and have been going for years for different issues. I began with Dr. Stretch, who has since retired, and then moved onto to Dr. Karp. I found her amazingly knowledgeable, very helpful, she has great needle technique for acupuncture, and made terrific suggestions. She recommended I see Dr. Klausmeyer for cranial-sacral therapy, and he has been such a support to me. When I am in town, I see him weekly. In a little over a year he has helped me relax, decreased my back pain immensely, and provided me with a healing technique that truly is helping my body. His hands are gifted! Recently I began seeing Dr. Celmer who is so knowledgeable about both naturopathic and western medicine. She quotes juried studies to back up her recommendations, knows international studies, and provides me with the time I need to get my needs met. Finally, I've read a great deal about the office staff in many of the reviews. I have found everyone in the office now to be friendly, helpful, and supportive. They are an alternative to Western medicine's conveyor belt approach that doesn't focus on the patient and tends to think of solutions as either pills or operations. I went to this office to see Dr. Karp. Initial visits went fine. After a bout month and a half, I decided I did not want to continue. My regular doctor told me all the extra B vitamins I was given could have potential side effects. I called and cancelled my upcoming appointment 3 weeks in advance. I just received a call about them telling me I missed my appointment. I said I had cancelled it. Response? no, we have no record of that, and we called you a few days ago and you confirmed so you will be billed for the missed appointment in other word, they will bill me $150 for their error (maybe intentional error?). I did not receive any calls from them. I have double checked my caller ID and the numbers on my cell phone. No calls from them. Of course they also do not give you something like a confirmation code when you do cancel. So once you go to this place, commit to go for life, or accept that they will bill you, even if you do cancel. Also, double check your invoice before you leave the window. They will overcharge you there too, at least that was my experience. read more

The doctors may be fine but the office staff is not. More often than not they do not answer their phones, and the voice mail on the system is misleading/confusing. They do not call to remind about appointments. When you actually do talk to them in person, they can be quite rude. They spend more time talking to each other than the patients. I've been seeing Dr. Erica Oberg for about a year, and she's fantastic. I love the fact that she takes an approach that is both natural and backed up by scientific research. My doctor at ICM is Kim Celmer and she is great. She is like a walking medical encyclopedia. I bring up any topic, even men's health issues, and she's got answers with explanations right off the top of her head, including discussions into research published on the topic I mention. She analyzes issues from a whole-body and preventive point of view. Even if you have an acute issue, she'll analyze it to get back to what might be causing it in the first place, rather than just prescribing you some meds to knock down the symptoms. It's such a different (in a great way) experience from visiting a western medicine-focused clinic where they spend 15 minutes with you, give you a prescription, and tell you to come back if it doesn't resolve, and you leave ICM with a great feeling like you're really going to get relief from what's bothering you.
