I really didn't want to have to make a review because the woman running this and doing hair was nice. But she messed up my hair bad. Here's my experience. I find this salon thinking it's a salon. I get there and it was hard to find she wasn't clear on instructions when i called, and when i find the place it's just a small room. And it was dirty too. she had stains and things left out, old waxing sticks just sitting with the new ones. I have a bleached undercut and asked her to touch up on my roots because my birthdays this weekend and i want to look good for the beach. she rushes the application like dye is flying it hit me in the face and everything. she also rushed cutting my hair and you can kind of see in the pic how choppy it was. But she curled my hair and that hid everything so i was happy until i got home and my sister and i were going to fix the cut we noticed plenty of problems. you can just see the pictures speak for themselves. i texted her the next day saying id like to talk, she called me and asked for the pics so i sent them. she then called back and said she could fix it then made an appointment for me. then proceeded to blame ME for my hair looking like this. mind you i've been dying my own hair for 7 years and this particular style for 2years and it has NEVER looked like this. i make sure my hair looks good because it's my hair why wouldn't i? I got to the salon and told her i wasn't comfortable with her trying to fix it and that id like a refund on at LEAST the bleach. she told me she didn't see my text or the pictures i sent which is a lie because she called me in regards to it. she tried arguing with me over a refund and tried saying she can't do that but she runs the business so? i was telling her no she didn't even do what i asked, i asked for roots not to lighten the rest. that was her own decision and ignored my roots. i also don't think it was crazy to ask for the 110 back for the bleach job because her website says 65 and up for touch up. i understand the "and up" part but she also tried to fix where my natural hair was growing in and the black on top to try and make it look more natural (i can still see the line in between) so she charged me 110 for the brown, 110 for the bleach, and 52 for the cut. I also have her a 55$ tip. she tried sending me only 60 and i had to tell her no you didn't do what i asked. i also got the FLU after coming here! This whole week i've been opening the store alone and made no contact with anyone but going to her salon. i'm not going to point blame on her because you can get sick from anything but the timing and me not being around anyone leads me to believe i got sick from her. please don't go here it's a waste of money and time. and if you do ask to see her stylist license because how do you even have one if you do this? Its crazy to me she let me walk out like this. It was an okay haircut. Definitely not salon quality. She seemed really against washing my hair for a wet cut? I didn't want to keep insisting. It's like she wanted to cut my hair in the quickest time possible. She also had to straighten my hair to cut it. Never seen that before in a salon...The cut was so quick and a bit uneven, especially the long curtain bangs I asked for. She did not take her time and go through cutting the hair in layers. Honestly, pay $20 extra and go to a real salon, where they'll take time to wash your hair, and actually cut the hair and not just use a razor. I was disappointed to come home and see how unrefined the hair was and some of my hair was clearly uncut, meaning she only cut the top layer off hair. It was just a basic cut, not salon quality. Definitely come here if you here for a quick some-what cheap cut, but it's definitely not salon quality. I now need to go to another salon for a real fresh cut. read more

Hue T referred me here. I loved her balayage. I was able to book an appointment online a month in advance just cause I like to plan. InStyle Salon is located in the Publix plaza on the left and side. I came early and just wanted to sit there and read my e-book on my phone. Lanie saw me and greeted me as I told her I am okay with waiting since I came half an hour early. She was cutting a client's hair. When Lanie was finished with that particular client, she asked me to show her a photo of the balayage I wanted and I did. She said it looks great and will work on me soon since there was another client before me. I haven't gotten my hair dyed in years. My hair grows super fast too. It was to my waist so I definitely needed a haircut asap. Plus I'm getting old so I have a couple strands of white hair here and there so that's why I wanted to get a balayage. I wanted something more natural. The details Lanie did for my balayage, I was impressed. I didn't even sit that long waiting to get my hair shampooed and colored. I've never had a shampoo job like that before. The chemicals used to dye were not strong and smelled herbal and earthy. I loved how Lanie layered my hair. I watched her do her thing! What I also love about her is she wants to get to know each and everyone of her clients. After blow drying my hair, Lanie curled and styled it. I loved it! She took pictures of the back of my hair. I came here after multiple disasters at my other salon. It's awful trying someone new when it comes to hair and dentistry. It's scary and stressful but I pretty much had come to the conclusion it couldn't be much worse than what I'd been going through at CJs. So, after checking Yelp, I found this salon and decided to just try it. Lanie was very nice as was her husband who helps her run the salon. It's a nice salon, no super frills but I don't need that either. I told her my hair saga and she pointed out some major issues with my hair, including all the breakage and damage from over processing from the last stylists. She said she could try to get the color more even at least so I didn't look like a Calico cat anymore (okay, she didn't say that last part but it's how I felt), but she said it was going to take some time to get it how I truly want it. She spent a great deal of time on me. She did add lighter pieces for me where she could and I know she did her best. I left with my hair not all the way dry, but enough to see some of the highlights. A day or two later, I realized it wasn't what I wanted exactly so I went back to her. She was honest with me and explained she could not get the pieces I wanted lighter to the degree I wanted them because my hair needed to grow and also get stronger again. She said she wanted to make me happy and was willing to add some pieces to a medium brown, but it couldn't be what I wanted exactly at this time. But I didn't want to risk more damage so I'll just wait and try to be patient for the next time hoping I can get more of what I want. It's so important to have a good stylist!! What happened to me has ruined my hair for months. I'm pretty sure it will take a full year for me to get my hair healthy again and be back to what it was. Came in for a women's haircut . Prices range 35-45 for a cut. Nina cut my hair - she was super nice and attentive and listened to what I like and don't like . I also told her I have kids so not a lot of time to style. Showed her a style I liked and she said I should go like one inch longer - and that she would cut to my shortest layer so everything is even. She proceeded to also straighten my hair once she was done and also used clippers to clean up the line of the hair to make sure it was straight with no stray ends. She then cut into the hair to remove some bulk. After math .. love it ! She straightened it to show me what it looked like in the back- then styled it with soft waves to show me how i can style it up a bit . Definitely will be coming back to Nina ! read more

Tried a new hair salon near my house to get ready for fall pictures - InStyle Salon on Jones Bridge Rd. near Wild Wing Cafe in the Publix shopping center. Sangeeta, the owner, was very accommodating when I made the appointment through Yelp. Her salon is clean and stylish, and she listened to all my requests and followed through exactly as I asked. There is also a separate room where you can get eyebrows threaded (only $10!), and they also do facials and make-up. She listened when I said I prefer a natural look for makeup, but with her recommendation, I went bolder and got Taylor Swift-like red lipstick. In LOVE with my new highlights! Definitely nice to be pampered once in awhile. I've been neglecting my hair for a long time...the last time I had it colored was about 18 months prior. I asked for a layered haircut with caramel highlights and brought a picture I found on Pinterest as well. My hair was then the focus for the next two hours with great attention to detail. The end result was an amazing haircut that made me feel like I lost pounds from the top of my head even though only 1-2 inches was taken off. (My hair was getting reaaaal heavy before coming here.) Lanie saved my hair. I moved to Georgia 2 years ago, and when I moved, I decided I would cut and color my own hair. I had had several very bad salon experiences before I finally found the lady in North Carolina who cut and colored my hair for a decade, prior to my move to Georgia. It is worth noting that I am not trained or educated to do hair...and my hair was a disaster as a result. In the past 2 years, I've put various colors in my hair, ranging from level 7 with red all the way down to level 3 mixed with neutral and cool (to try to cover the red). There was permanent color, but more recently demi-permanent, because I thought that maybe I could let my hair grow out naturally. The problem with just growing it out is that my hair was multi-colored / mostly-black, but my natural were a few levels lighter. So it was the opposite of the dark-roots-lighter-ends look that can actually look normal. My hair, as it grew in, would have remained dark on the end with fading-to-lighter roots as it continued to grow. So, after looking at all the Before / After photos on Yelp and reading the reviews about people who still come all the way from other states to see Lanie, I decided to give it a try. And I am so glad I did. I was so scared that my hair would break off or fall out from the lightening process. But Lanie removed the black / dark color and returned my hair to a shade MUCH closer to my natural color with no damage! At that point I was so excited that 1) my hair was no longer black, and 2) it was not only not damaged, but it was actually SOFT. So then I said something like, "Do whatever you think would look good." And she ended up doing some highlighting stuff...I don't even know what she did. I just saw a couple different colors mixed, and then she did several foils as well as some sort of painting technique that I never would have been able to do myself. Basically, she did magical things to my hair. I have some major events coming up, and the way my hair looked before today was very concerning. Not anymore! I no longer feel like a skunk with a pale stripe (the roots), and my hair looks better than it's ever looked before. It's also worth noting there was another stylist working that day who helped Lanie by doing the styling (which also looked amazing!), and Lanie's husband also helped her with the blow-drying. They were both very nice and also did good work. Also, the pricing is fair. If I had known about Lanie and the Instyle Salon from the day I moved to Georgia, I would have just come here from the start. This place is wonderful. read more

MANAGEMENT HAS CHANGED. DO NOT GO. I originally wrote a stellar review for this salon after being a year-long patron; however, management has changed and this place is a NIGHTMARE. The assistant under previous management, who was not typically allowed to color hair, is now the manager and primary stylist/colorist. My hair is ruined for my wedding. Please, please read this review before going here and having your hair ruined. Tl;dr: My hair is falling out in clumps because Sangeeta put me under heat 5 times and generally had no idea what she was doing. Problems: 1) Sangeeta does not know how to color hair. Period. She was getting directions from the 17-year-old who works there. Granted, the 17 y.o. was a pleasure and consulted me when Sangeeta was not in the room on ways to try to salvage what little hair I had at the end of this visit. 2)I have thin, fine hair. Sangeeta and I discussed this at the beginning. She then proceeded to put bleach in my hair and put me under a high-heat dryer for 40+ minutes. 3) Both Sangeeta and the 17 y.o. noted how my hair was fried when they tried to wash out the bleach. My hair was gummy and coming out in clumps on my smock and in their hands. Sangeeta then proceeded to dry my hair on high heat, dye it, wash that out, and then dry it again on high heat. 4) She got dye all over my cheek, forehead, and INSIDE my ear canals. This screams lack of training. I had to beg them to put hair protectant in the dye mix. 5) I asked Sangeeta not to curl my hair because of how damaged it was by the visit up until this point, and she DID IT ANYWAY. 6) She first STRAIGHTENED my hair to cut it, (no one does this, even Great Clips) and then curled it so she could get her before/after picture. 7) They had to cut my hair 3 INCHES and layer the rest to mask my ragged hair loss. 8) To try to make it up to me, she bought me free coffee, hugged me many many times. She then proceeds to tell me I can't dye my hair for a year because of how bad it currently is. I am incredibly hurt, angered, and saddened by my most recent trip here. I will contact my credit card company to dispute the charge because when I contacted Sangeeta for a refund, she was non-compliant. The only time one should consider InStyle Salon is if it is a simple cut or a children's cut. That's it. Never go for coloring or anything you wouldn't go to Great Clips for. This place is worse than Great Clips. read more

I went there for a last minute appointment to get my bangs trimmed and there was a young girl there who told me she was 17 (but apparently she wasn't supposed to tell me that for some reason) I was nervous, but I thought she wouldn't be the one cutting my hair. Then she led me to the seat and started cutting my hair. At this point I felt like I couldn't do anything but let her do her thing. My bangs were super uneven and terrible looking. I left, but I went back in crying my eyes out and the owner tried to fix them but it didn't work. My hair was totally screwed up and they still charged my over $50.
