In such a busy crazy world that we live in, not many people would take time out of their day to just "check in". I have to say, Dr. Roth is one of a kind, he truly cares about his patients. If your "estimate" is off by more than 60% then you need to do better. That is unacceptable. I will no longer refer anyone here & I will seriously reconsider returning. What a shame after all these years. So disappointed in the customer service when we checked out & lack of explanation or accountability about their incorrect estimates.

5 Stars times 4!…read more Doctor Weitzbach has treated my wife, daughter, son and me... all with kindness, compassion, exceptional medical expertise and diligent follow-up. In the last few years, Doctor Weitzbach's annual skin cancer checks have found 2 cancers (one requiring radiation and one Mohs surgery) and numerous pre-cancers requiring freezing. The two most serious cancers were caught so early that second opinions from plastic surgeons verified Dr. Weitzbach's early detection saved us from potentially disfiguring surgery that would have been required if the tumors had been allowed to grow. His and his team's treatment of our children has been equally exceptional. Whether treating severe adolescent acne with Accutane, strategies for Psoriasis or simple acne facials, we could not have asked for more or better treatment. Did I mention that they have a pharmacy on the premises so you don't have to go running to the drugstore after your doctors visit? Convenience and competence... I went for a whole body scan and to see if any of my moles were a problem. They took a biopsy of one and it came back malignant. Dr. Dye gave me a nice 1 1/2" cut to take out a basal cell carcinoma that was small and contained on my stomach. It's common and doesn't spread so I guess it's the best kind to have if you're going to have any kind. The assisting nurse said that he's like a plastic surgeon he's so good. Well, two weeks later the stitches were removed and what was left behind was a really ugly keloid. I don't get keloids. I bought their silicone scar reduction product and used it religiously and it didn't help the scar. I went to a plastic surgeon who will take care of it for about $1500. That plastic surgeon gave me a cortisone shot which minimized it and made it less red but only temporarily. I also had to come back to get leftover stitches removed because I was feeling something sticking out of my chest and it was more thread that wasn't taken out the first time. I wish I could sing Dr. Dye's praises but my experience was not an end result from a doctor whose work is like a plastic surgeon. What I was given was something left behind for a plastic surgeon to fix.

Kat Carson is literally the best dentist I know. I drive all the way from Santa Monica to Westlake (45 min) to see her. I tried going to other dentists -- even the head of UCLA -- but my crown kept breaking. I finally went to Dr. Carson and she got it right. Unfortunately, the way I was treated regarding a billing issue was disappointing enough that I have decided not to return as a patient. I paid for my cleaning at the time of my appointment and was told that my insurance would be billed so that I could be reimbursed. After several weeks without receiving reimbursement, I called and was told the claim would be submitted again. I then unexpectedly received a bill for $250, apparently for an evaluation, which I do not recall being told about at the time of my appointment. The bill also included a $5 finance charge. After previously being left on hold for more than 30 minutes, I decided to stop by the office in person to pay the bill. While I was sitting there, the billing/scheduling person asked another staff member, "Why is she here?" I could clearly hear the comment, so I responded, "To pay my bill because i was on hold for a long time when i called to pay" I found the interaction unnecessarily rude and condescending. I understand that billing issues and misunderstandings can happen, but there is no reason for a patient to be spoken about or treated in that manner. Unfortunately, this experience has caused the practice to lose me as a patient. I believe everyone deserves to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Thank you, Dr. Mueller, for the excellent care you provided. My decision to leave is not a reflection of you or the quality of your care, which I greatly appreciated.

I was recommended by a friend to check out Dr. Subka and upon my first visit... I was so impressed by how nice, professional, and efficient the entire staff is. The technology & equipment here is so impressive and on a much higher level of accuracy from what I was used to. Dr. Subka is SO kind, intelligent, and really has this place running like a well oiled machine. I just went back for my second appointment a couple days ago. She replaced two fillings from my previous dentist and this is the BEST my teeth have felt in months. I'm just really thankful to have met Dr. Subka and everyone on the entire team. I asked whether these distinctions were documented anywhere in writing, and I was told they were not. During the exam, I was not informed that a set of x-rays would be taken that would void the advertised offer. When I questioned the charge afterward, I was told it was my responsibility as the patient to ask whether the promotion applied at the time the x-rays were taken, despite clear advertising with no disclosed exclusions. I was also told I was being aggressive for raising the question. Overall, the experience, particularly with the advertising and billing process, made me feel uncomfortable and taken advantage of. If you come here, get written confirmation of all costs and what any advertised promotions actually include before agreeing to treatment. EDIT IN REPLY TO THE BUSINESS: I want to clarify a few factual points in their response for accuracy. They state that "concerns regarding billing were first brought to our attention nearly two months after the appointment." This is incorrect. Billing concerns were raised on the day of the appointment and were reiterated again during my call with them on the day this review was posted, just under a month and a half since the appointment, a period that included Christmas and the holidays. Characterizing this as nearly two months later is inaccurate. They also state that the complimentary consultation and x-ray applies only to specific diagnostic visits and excludes comprehensive exams and a full set of x-rays. None of these limitations are disclosed on the website advertisement, nor were they explained to me in writing or in person prior to treatment. These distinctions were communicated only after billing was questioned. Additionally, their response states that all new patients are provided a comprehensive exam and a full set of x-rays. This directly conflicts with the website advertisement stating "New Patients: Complimentary Consult and X-Ray," without any clarification that this refers only to a single image or excludes the standard x-rays they state all new patients receive. The core issue remains the same. An advertised offer with no stated exclusions was used to book the appointment, and the terms that voided that offer were explained only after charges were incurred. Being told afterward that it was my responsibility to ask whether the promotion applied is inconsistent with transparent pricing.

At that time, the manager assured me that this previous x- ray would be sufficient, and only a few bitewing images would be needed, since I do not want to be exposed to more radiation. However, the day before my appointment, I received a call stating that a full mouth x- ray was now required for me to be seen by both the doctor and hygienist. I declined, as i have already expressed my concerns about unnecessary radiation. The manger said she would consult Dr. Hakimi, but I was later told that they refused my previous x-ray, and as a result, my appointment was canceled, preventing me from receiving the exam and cleaning. I find it completely unacceptable that my time, health concerns, and trust were disregarded for such an extended period. When I mentioned that I would share my experience on Yelp, the manager said It is not fair to their office. I would like to know if this is truly fair to any patient who relies on your office for care. I hope office take this issue seriously and be more honest and informative so that no other patients face the same situation.

I went to Newbury Smiles about three months ago for a routine cleaning. At that visit, I was told I had "deep pockets" in my gums, but no one mentioned cavities, an urgent treatment plan, or any significant issues. I was also never shown any X-rays, and I did not meet with the dentist -- only the hygienist. I returned in November for another cleaning, and immediately after the appointment I was suddenly told that I had three cavities between my teeth on both sides of my mouth and that treatment was "imperative." I was completely blindsided. When I said this was the first time anyone had mentioned cavities, the dentist insisted that I had been told months earlier -- which is simply not true. I clearly remember that conversation, and none of this was discussed. I wasn't shown X-rays at that time because they hadn't even been reviewed yet. The dentist only looked at my August X-rays in November and then accused me of "neglect." His exact words were: "Neglect adds up, and it comes in the form of tooth decay. You've done a good job, but now you have a lot of damage to repair." That comment alone was unprofessional, dismissive, and deeply unsettling. Then they slid a $2,500 treatment plan across the table as if this had all been previously agreed upon. I felt pressured, blindsided, and very uncomfortable with how the entire situation was handled. Something didn't sit right with me, so I went to a highly rated dentist at Westlake Dental Care for a second opinion -- a practice with consistent five-star reviews. They were incredibly welcoming and thorough. They were shocked by how few X-rays Newbury Smiles had taken and reviewed. After examining me and reviewing new films, they told me: * My gums are healthy * My teeth are in great shape * I do not have cavities * I do not need fillings * I do not need any of the treatment Newbury Smiles recommended The contrast was night and day. So when I say that Dr. Benjamin Sun is the best dentist I have ever had in my 78 years, I mean that sincerely. I was in pain from a lower right gum infection. I procrastinated like crazy and let the pain from the infection get worse all week until I left a message with his emergency line late Saturday night -- Dr. Sun called me at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday and prescribed an antibiotic for me. Dr. Sun makes each of his patients feel incredibly important and special. He then discovered that one of my old root-canal molars had cracked which caused a gum infection and explained all of my options to me. What impressed me most was that he never pressured me into getting an implant. He told me that I could have the tooth extracted and, if the cost of an implant was too much, I could simply leave it out. He wanted me to make the decision that was right for me. At one point I told him, "I'm 78 and at the end of my life." He looked at me and said, "You may be surprised -- I've known people who live into their 90s." That simple comment made me feel young again. I went home and discussed everything with my husband, Paul, and we decided to go ahead with the implant. I have never felt so comfortable and respected by a dentist. Dr. Sun is kind, honest, patient, and genuinely concerned about his patients rather than trying to sell them treatment. His office staff is very warm and makes the visit pleasant. I give Dr. Sun an A+ and a gold star! If I could give him more than five stars, I absolutely would. I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for an exceptional dentist -- especially someone who is nervous or afraid of dental work.
