I have returned with continued problems and recieved no charge work in attempt to correct their mistake and even had the entire filling taken out and replaced because it was so badly done the first time by Dr. Johnson. Dr. Johnson has messed up 2 of my previous fillings in the past as well. He also worked on me when I indicated I was in a lot of pain and not fully numb, and I informed them of my connective tissue disease causing me to typically require more local anesthetic than people without my disease. He didn't listen to me and it hurt so badly. He was very rude and had terrible bed side manner. I tried to see other dentist there for the correction without any luck. The front desk people and the people who collect payments are also extremely rude, do not know how to politely adress patients, fact check before they speak,!and do not respect patient privacy. They have also several times assured me my insurance will cover a service and pay nothing when I am walking out the door only to recieve a bill in the mail for the same service they claimed was covered. They're predatory. They tried making me schedule a correction for filling they messed up with a new filling only so I would have to pay them instead of fixing the one tooth at no charge like they should have and refused to do so and rescheduled my appointment for the work twice on the singular tooth they messed up, because they would only do it if I paid more to have another one done at the same time. Lastly; they offer you a cookie every time you go which is extremely backwards for a dentist office, wouldn't you want your patients to avoid sugar loaded foods that harm their teeth that you're trying to fix? They're all about money they do not care about their patients.

This office has only gotten better with the new Dr. and all new staff. My 5 grandchildren were gently instructed and reminded to practice good brushing and flossing without judging. They had cleanings, fillings, teeth pulled and root canals and the children still don't mind going to the dentist. Wow, that speaks volumes for this dental office! I've read some of the reviews that are so negative. Seriously, they must have gotten posted to the wrong Gentle Dentistry. I highly recomment this office and am glad I didn't see those reviews before checking out the new dentist (Dr. Setia), because I have never had a better dentist in my 60 plus years. I did not make a follow up appointment with them. They should have referred me out to a dental surgeon because they didn't have an available appointment for 2 weeks! The next day I found a great oral surgery office. They got me in that day and removed the tooth. Smiles refused to send a referral and the extensive X-rays to the surgeon who could do the procedure. I paid in full for those X-rays at Smiles on the day I was seen. I believe that's a reportable offense to refuse to refer and forward records. The dentist at Smiles was arrogant and had a bad chair-side manner. One good thing at Smiles was the dental hygienist - very kind.

She seemed extremely bothered with my inexperience with dental insurance. I left in tears with frustration. She later told me over the phone that she "couldn't try to guess my account number (while in search of it) because she had other patients to tend to." While waiting for assistance Jessica would take a personal call on her phone leaving my impression even more negative. After finally getting seen by the dentist, I got my prescriptions and went on my way. The pharmacy would not fill my prescription due to the absence of the DEA number that was forgotten. I am extremely understanding to the fact that mistakes can happen yet I will not be returning to this clinic. At the second Metro Dental, the receptionist was MUCH better and told me she would have to call the first office in Cottage Grove for they FORGOT to update my insurance. What a headache. While dental care remains unaffordable, the experience was unforgettable.

Then I had her another time and she was rather rude. I did not think about it much because she wasn't my primary dentist. Then one time my daughter went in and when she was done, she was distraught saying that she we made degraded and basically told that she was not to talk when the dr. was talking. I've had a difficult time getting her to go to the dentist again. Finally, I requested that we don't get Dr. McGinn again however, we still get her as backup. Disappointing.

I actually didn't go to the dentist for a number of years when I was younger until I realized how important it was to take care of your teeth. So when I did make an appointment, this is a true story by the way, the hygienist who cleaned my teeth brought out a whole tray of instruments. For those of you that have seen Braveheart, that is what it looked like to me. Then she begins to file.......er sharpen her instruments while I'm laying there in the chair! First of all I'm thinking that this should have been done BEFORE I arrived. Second I had a severe feeling of a lamb there for the slaughter. Needless to say that was the last visit to that dentist. We ended up moving and now we have been seeing Dr. Dunlap for the past several years. I am here to say that this is by far and away the best experience I have ever had. I have the same hygienist (Christy) which is nice for familiarity. Christy has worked there for 15 years. There is music to listen to and its not elevator music. They even have TV's in their rooms. Woodbury Family Dentist are very accommodating as they schedule my wife and I at the same time so we can both go at the same time. Dr Dunlap has also been wonderful to work with. A couple of years ago I chipped a tooth. I called and made an appointment to have my tooth looked at. Dr Dunlap used one of those "tools" to smooth out the rough area. My appointment did not take too long and as I got up to go pay she stated that there would be no charge! I was floored by this as I would expect to pay for any service regardless of time. This to me was a great example of how Dr Dunlap and her staff care for their patients. I still don't look forward to going to the dentist however if I am going to go to any dentist, its Dr Dunlap and her staff. I can't tell you how nice it is to have a quality medical professional of any practice to see. I am thankful that we can see Dr Dunlap.

The receptionist displayed a narrow-minded attitude, saying that they had never scheduled an interpreter before, so they couldn't do it, and that the client needed to bring their own interpreter or go elsewhere. The fact that my agency was willing to be billed for interpreter costs made no difference.

I had to reschedule a minor surgical procedure, because Tristan did not enter my insurance into the database correctly upon intake. When I called to inquire if my insurance had approved the procedure, Tristan abruptly cut me off and stated "it's not going to be covered, I'm taking you off the schedule." She then hung up on me and presumably took me off the schedule. My husband is employed through the Department of Veteran's Affairs and we have 2 types of dental coverage, Tristan entered only 1 coverage. I explained this to Tristan at intake and she seemed to understand this. Unfortunately, I had to have a representative from my insurance call her to explain and reconcile this matter with her. When I called Jensen and Jensen to inquire about rescheduling the procedure, Tristan was again very impolite and ended our conversation with a very condescending "have a nice day." I'm not sure what happens behind the scenes, but her negative attitude towards me is befuddling. It's too bad, because Dr. Jane Jensen and assistants were very kind, professional and attentive.
