Was reluctant to stay here because it's not my usual hotel. But since work was paying for it. I said whatever. Let's try it. If I could find a way to steal the bed and take it home with me. I would. It was so comfortable. Found myself working in bed. Sleeping. Eating there. The bed didn't engulf me. It wasn't ridiculously soft. It made my back feel relief. I slept hard. Which is typically not the case. No complaints with the bed. The pillows sucked. I thought those were too soft for my liking. But no place is perfect. I was on the 14th floor. After a quick check-in at 11pm, I was whisked upstairs fairly quickly. Upon entering, I found the closet on the right hand side which had slippers and robes. As you continue in, the bed and desk and tv was there. And then tucked in the corner was the walk in bathroom which was spacious. It was a stand in shower. All the amenities were filled. Towels were nice and absorbent. I stayed two nights and I was out early in the morning and back late at night. There was a Pokémon festival happening so it was pretty busy. But I mostly missed all of the people coming in and out. The front desk staff were chill. I did get a chance to check out the pool briefly before it closed and then the gym which is 24/7. For a hotel gym it was super spacious and had a great amount of machine including several treadmills and stair masters. Dumbbells. Machines that focus on back, chest, shoulders. read more

Beautiful hotel. Great staff. Good food...bad entertainment system and hidden fees. I stayed here for four nights, and the location, room, and service were all excellent. I had breakfast at the hotel every morning and loved their mushroom omelet. The front desk was often busy but always kind, efficient, and attentive. My only critique: the in-room entertainment/cable system feels outdated and could use an update, and there is an additional charge (around $50 a day) that is not included in your purchase price. I hate hidden fees. Otherwise, my stay was excellent, and I would highly recommend this hotel. read more

Pulled up to the valet today (July 15) before noon and sat around waiting forever because there was no valet. I walk back toward the front doors to ask someone to find him for what is like the third or fourth or fifth time. He finally shows up and starts helping a rude family that has cut in front of me in line because I went to go looking for him (the valet). He then tells me to park somewhere else if I don't like it. (I can't do that, I've already prepaid for parking.) How rude. What nerve. What a complete jerk. The proper thing to do (for both the rude valet and the extremely rude and obnoxious family from who-the-f-knows where) is to apologize for the wait and the confusion. What a screwed-up experience. What a total lack of professionalism. What a waste of time and money. Where did you find this person? You could have found someone better to hire from Enterprise for High School Students. read more

Headed to San Francisco for Valentine's Day and stayed at the intercontinental San Francisco. This is the one located on Howard Street by the Moscone Center. It is not the Mark Hopkins at the top of Nob Hill (where we stayed for an event last year). And having now stayed at both, they both had that great service that Intercontinental is known for, but the one on Howard Street is just a little bit more modern and it is well situated for business travelers. The rooms are decent sized, and as others have mentioned, the Club Lounge (particularly in the mornings) is well worth it. The breakfast was buffet style and lots of variety and selection, plus drinks, and evening cocktails. The weekend was crowded, but we were always able to find seating. The staff is pleasant, as others have mentioned. We were there for two nights and our room was fabulous. We had a great view and slept extremely well. And the location, honestly, could not be beat. Walking wise, it's a little closer to certain tourist areas. We went downstairs, the first day, and asked the concierge how to get to the cable car station. He greeted us with, "how can I serve you?" He just was lovely. The cable car starting point was around the block, and away we went from there. I will say also, I did feel safe walking there, both in the daytime and at night. Yes, there were some transients around, but I did not feel unsafe. It was a fairly busy area and there are people walking everywhere. Of course, you have to be cautious and pay attention, but I felt safe. We had a great trip to San Francisco, would return, would return to that Intercontinental as well. read more

We checked in here for a family staycation because we wanted a hotel with a pool that the kids could enjoy. The pool was a decent size, though it's more of a lap pool. They also have a jacuzzi that could use a little updating, but it still worked just fine. We took advantage of the gym as well, and it had almost everything you need for a full-body workout. The hotel was clean throughout our stay, and our room's large window was a nice touch, especially at night with the city views. We also ordered room service, and everyone we interacted with was so friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. We stopped by the 888 Bistro Bar in the lobby too, and it was a 10/10 experience. The bartenders were great, and they made really good cocktails. Overall, we had a wonderful staycation here and would definitely recommend it! read more

Had a very nice stay at the Intercontinental in San Francisco in September. This was my second visit, and both times have been great. On my most recent visit, we had the good fortune of staying in a corner room. The view was cool, the room was spacious, the bed was comfy, and the furniture was modern. The service was great-we had a positive experience with hotel staff from check in, to a quick dinner, to getting coffee in the morning before we departed. Stayed at this hotel as it was associated with the conference that I was going to. Service was awesome on check-in, very prompt with minimal waiting, very professional experience overall. I loved that the lobby was open and spacious with a lot of seating if you needed to wait for your rideshare, or meet some guests. It was also very nice that they provided complementary flavored water downstairs. One small gripe was the hotel bar drinks were on the weaker side, and it was pretty packed, but obviously due to the high volume of guests, I can understand why they would be so busy. As far as location, excellent proximity to Moscone convention center, and there is a reasonable selection of restaurants as well as shops like target or Whole Foods if you needed to go get something from there. For people who are not familiar with the area, I would just avoid 6th street late at night but 5th St is fine to walk. The room was also very clean and well set up with a desk and appropriate comfortable bedding. Bathroom was spacious and had all the necessary amenities, and it was clean. Lastly, housekeeping is something that I generally do not prefer until the very end of my stay, and I was very pleased that they did not interrupt at all. I've stayed in many hotels where housekeeping insist on coming in despite me telling them no or having do not disturb up. read more

One of my favorite experiences! Staff are amazing - Zoe at the Bar; Norma, Luis and Ben in the Club Lounge; and Valentina in the Gift Shop. The food in the Club Lounge was exceptional, compliments to the Chef and the drinks were plentiful. The gym was spacious and so many options for exercising - wish all gyms were like this. Stayed at the InterCon SF for a week on a biz trip and had a great experience. My room was clean, modern and super comfy. I'm a terrible sleeper and actually slept so well here that I came home and already ordered the mattress and pillows (seriously)! They use Byredo products in the rooms, quality stuff, though the specific scent is a bit too strong for me. The staff was friendly and helpful across the board, though the bar was definitely understaffed. Great bartender, just solo and overwhelmed. Not his fault. I had club lounge access, and it ended up being my fave part of the stay. Amazing views, always stocked with snacks, food, cocktails and had genuinely the kindest staff. It quickly became my go-to spot to catch up on work and escape the chaos of the conference. The location was perfect. It was a short walk to Moscone Center and surrounded by restaurants. Also a nice walk, about a mile to the Embarcadero which was calming to take in the views. Would absolutely stay here again. read more

Very nice with a TRX virtual workout machine, machines for chest/back that goes up to around 100lbish, Dumbbells up to 50lbs, yoga mats, typical cardio machines (treadmill, stair master, elliptical), and a little area where you can do some core workouts. They also had disposable earbuds to plug into the cardio machines. Restaurant? Located main lobby but food looked really expensive but there's a lot of little fast food places within walking distance. Location? Great location across a gyu kaku with a Trader Joe's and Target a few blocks away. My girlfriend and I felt safe walking around but still was cautious because there are homeless people around but spread out in other areas not directly in front of the hotel itself. But my only gripe is that valet parking is $86/night and uber/lyft was so much easier to use. Overall I'd definitely love staying here again for Pride weekend! read more

We got see many professionals appear for the Config Con happening at Moscone. Enjoyed seeing my old haunts and experiencing the famous hotel that Barrack Obama stayed several years back. The staff are/were wonderful. Many went out of their way to give us an optimal stay for comfort. Yes, of course please stay here next time you're in town. Was there for a company party. Very lavish on the 3rd floor banquet room. Food displayed nicely in front outside the banquet hall. The beef flat iron was very tender (highlight). Potato scallop with cheese was delicious. The mozzarella with tomato. Cheesy macaroni. Very dry chicken, maybe slice it next time to thinner cuts. The fish was dry, not sure, some kind of white fish. Plenty of grilled veggies. The dessert egg nog pot de cream was good. Peppermint chocolate cake was ok. The gingerbread muffin was dry. There was a vegan table but there's a sign to cater only to vegans. Plenty food untouched. Service was fast and they do work extremely hard in taking away dirty plates. Lovely self help coffee and tea, with lemon and honey. We jad a ice ctram dundae station. Fresh fruit compote and nuts, cherries, and spinkles on your own. Great party. Great venue. I had a great weekend stay at this downtown San Francisco hotel. The front desk is friendly and constantly asking if you want bottled water. The bed was very comfortable with a nice fluffy comforter. The room was well designed with automatic shades. The view was beautiful in the day and at night. I enjoyed the two lane lap pool and hot tub. They stocked pool towels. Imagine that! Notes: There are not enough hooks in the bathroom to hang our towels. The location is near a homeless colony of sorts. Parking is $75/day. Other places are comparable, hence, this is SF. The area is close to some less savory streets but the downtown location is central and convenient. The room itself was fantastic - spacious, great view (with an automatic shade that rolls down), and huge comfortable bed. Great Byredo products too. Very clean as well. The hotel is conveniently situated next to Yerba Buena center and close to Union Square and Chinatown (20 mins walk). To avoid the $74 charge for parking, we parked in a parking structure right next to the hotel (Mission and 5th) with $45ish for 24 hours. The Intercontinental lobby is nice and modern but the room itself is not super new or modern, but ours comes with a good view with a glimpse of the bay on the 30th floor. We also have the diamond elite status, so we get access to the Lounge on the 6th floor, or otherwise you pay $70 to get into. The lounge is nicely stocked with snacks, fruits, drinks and has a good breakfast selection in the morning. At night we got to taste some crème brûlée desserts and tiramisu which are really nice. We really like InterContinental hotels, and were excited to try this location after staying at the Mark Hopkins on our last visit to SF. Our room was modern in design and had a lovely view. We opted for breakfast in the club lounge on the 6th floor where we received exceptional service and were impressed by a very lovely spread. Aside from a very aloof doorman who remained seated at his podium staring at his phone while we struggled with our bags through the heavy lobby doors and an odd amount of pushback from the front desk when we requested a late checkout which should not have been an issue given IGH Diamond Elite status, it was a pleasant stay. We're currently planning which InterContinental to visit next... this brand has the luxury X comfort crossover dialed in just right! read more

Mostly, I feel like for the price, This is not the most luxurious experience. It's basically a glorified Marriott or Hyatt hotel with a bigger price tag. I expected the rooms to be somehow a lot nicer, but really it was a standard basic corporate room like I would find at the Marriott down the street for about 30% - 40% less . I don't think I would ever pay cash for this quality. But since I was using points, I figured I'd give it a try. I was a little disappointed in a very basic room at over $300 without even having a conference in town. I could've gotten a room at the Marriott for about 175 and it would've been more or less an equivalent experience . The hotel restaurant is nothing to write home about, it's nice, but nothing special. Pretty generic and pricey given that. read more

Service was friendly from the start, the rooms are a generous size, restaurant and club lounge had good food and options and the location is super convenient to Yerba Buena gardens as well as public transit all around the city. We'll definitely add it to our regular rotation of staycation spots! Love that they have little stuffies for the kiddos -- such a nice touch that we've become used to but so far the Palace Hotel and Hyatt Regency Embarcadero haven't offered the same. read more

Intercontinental is one of the newer luxury hotels located in the heart of San Francisco but just a little outside the shopping district . Once inside, this hotel features some nice decor and during the holidays the hotel features some hot cocoa with marshmallows with Christmas movies playing on the big screen in the lobby . Rooms are quite spacious and beds are comfortable. Bathrooms have separate showers and tub. They have a nice warm indoor pool and decent fitness center. Only downside is the hotel only offers valet parking and is within striking distance of the panhandle area of the city. read more

We had a conference in Monterey, so we decided to head to SF for the night and visit our oldest daughter. I love IHG and the excellent service that they provide. We've never stayed at this hotel, but we definitely appreciated the warm welcome and early check-in. We had a corner room and the views were great. The weather wasn't so great, but thankfully there was an umbrella in the closet. Their staff was just as wonderful here as they are in the all the hotels that we've had the pleasure of staying at. I particularly love that they have Byredo's line of soaps, shampoo and conditioner. Their Bal d'Afrique is one of my favorite parfums, and I left it at home, so I was pleasantly surprised to find it in my bathroom! read more

It was my first time staying at InterContinental. The parking was quite expensive at the hotel so we chose to park in a lot that is right behind the building. It was like 45$ per night I believe instead of hotel's 95$. The check-in was easy and everyone was friendly and helpful at the front desk. The rooms were big, clean, and cozy. Loved the view from our window! In the middle of the night, we needed some extra Q-tips and cotton pads and those were brought into our room within the next three minutes after we made a call. Great service! The only issue we had is that there was no water! No water bottles in the fridge or anything. That was a big downside. I would rate my experience staying at InterContinental San Francisco as 3.5 stars. If not for there being no water, I would've definitely given this place 5 stars. read more

Stayed here for one night and I would definitely come back! Checking in was easy since I already did it on the mobile app, all I had to do was give my ID and picked up the premade room keys at front desk. Staff were great and I was also able to get some water bottles from them. I was able to get a room on the 29th floor since I'm technically an IHG member (free to join!) which was really nice. Took the elevator up and found my room quickly. Room was great, clean, and had PLENTY of daylight and sun coming through. Bathroom was nice and clean, nice products to use as well. Beds were very comfy. I stayed by myself but this double bed room could fit 4 people nicely. There's also a chair in the corner near the window and a desk check near the desk/tv area. Room came with two robes and two slippers. Didn't use the robes but slippers were decent. Also used the gym twice while I was here and also got dinner at the bar downstairs. Nice gym, always clean and pretty empty both times I was there. Overall I'd definitely recommend for a solid price. Great staff, I love all the Intercontinental hotels I've stayed at, and will be back if I ever need a getaway in the city! Stayed here for business and I can honestly say that the service is some of the best I've received at any hotel. From the valet, to the doorman, to the bellman, the housekeeping staff, to the front desk, concierge, restaurant staff, I felt like I was a VIP. Never had to wait longer than a few minutes and was always greeted with warmth, a smile, respect, and professionalism. Folks here also seem to really like their jobs and want you to enjoy your stay. They were particularly lovely with my 2yo toddler, who was showered with little gifts of stuffed animals and free breakfast. The rooms were also spacious, clean, well appointed, and quiet. 9/7/2024 By no means is this property a Four Season's or a St. Regis, but that it is one of San Francisco's well maintained premium hotels. The hotel itself is also billed as a luxury hotel brand within IHG's global properties just after Six Senses and Regent. San Francisco, like many large metropolitan cities, hotels are a bounty, so how does this InterContinental property do? Location: adjacent to the Moscone Convention center, 1 block to the nearest Starbucks, 2 blocks to the Target - AMC Theatre's complex, and 3 blocks to Powell Street station. Other shops and restaurants are also within the vicinity. Booking: rates and availability can be found on multiple sources, and prices vary starting in the $300s. I myself redeemed my free night certificate, was upgraded to a high floor city view room, and provided a drink voucher for being a Platinum Elite member. At checkin: a friendly agent assisted with my arrival. While the experience was simple and minimal, the overall demeanor of the agent was commendable. My friend was having somewhat of a frenzied day, and so in lieu of that, a second drink voucher was provided. No one is suggesting one should drink their worries away, but it was a lovely gesture nonetheless. The room: I was provided a room on the 24th floor, which provided ample sun light from the floor to ceiling window. Being one of San Francisco's newer buildings being built, the property itself and the sleeping rooms do show very well. Wood cabinetry, white linens, teal walls and furniture frame the room. The room also manages to appear spacious and airy. Electrical designs are inclusive of press controlled drapery, privacy/service room buttons, and power/usb outlets built into the media console and bedside lighting. I absolutely love it when hotels provide multiple options to power devices. Plush all down white bedding and linens provided a bliss full nights rest. The best amenity of the hotel: gone is the dated verbena scented soaps that InterContinental has utilized brand wide and in with Byredo's Bal D'afrique scented hand wash, body lotion, hair shampoo, hair conditioner, and bar soap. This French brand is on the rise for global dominance, at least in my opinion it is. This scent in particular is mesmerizing and is quite expensive when purchased at their boutiques and at department stores. Hilton's Waldorf Astoria also utilizes Byredo in their properties, albeit the Mojave Ghost collection. Hotels no longer provide 3oz bottles of the said toiletries, and instead large bottles of the product is mounted to walls. This doesn't stop one from taking home said products by filling travel bottles. Yes, Byredo products are that amazing. I generally do not care so much for their hair products but that in my opinion their body products are far more superior. So glad to see Byredo come to IHG. The so-so: with time, sleeping rooms will show their age with wear and tear. As mentioned, this is a newer built hotel, but that renovations isn't a bad idea. I did notice some ill-positioning of a ceiling light in the bathroom. I think that if IHG wants to maintain InterContinental as a luxury brand, I would like to see soaker tubs in all rooms. Other parts of the hotel: I did have a quick meal at Luce and drinks at Bar 88 later in the evening. The staff were attentive and courteous. I did not get to use the pool or fitness center, but that it is a welcome feature to utilize when time permits. Had a well relaxed stay in a spectacular premium hotel. read more

This hotel is easily my new favorite! I was impressed by nearly every facet of what makes a solid hotel: cleanliness, service, and comfort. We requested a higher floor, which gave us a beautiful view of the South of the city. That alone made the stay the best. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed using the robes for the hot tub before and after the Warriors game-- another spectacular perk of this hotel! Customer service was kind and courteous from start to finish. I felt safe and welcome. I cannot wait to stay at the Intercontinental very soon, perhaps for a Giants game. You could also see Oracle Park from our room! 5 stars through and through. read more

I love a good hotel and this was the perfect place for me! It was walking distance from union square which was awesome. (Sidenote be careful at the Target nearby, the patrons...never mind just be careful). Back to the hotel... I enjoyed the city views from my jr suite! I especially enjoyed the view while sitting on the porcelain throne. The hotel workers were friendly, accommodating and welcoming especially Ernest the valet. But the best thing was the indoor pool and hot tub.Ending the night in the hot tub was lovely. The hotel had other amenities like a bar, fitness room and restaurants that I didn't take advantage of but I definitely plan to stay here again so I'll be sure to check out the other amenities. read more

One of the few hotels in SF that offers a decent sized swimming up and a full sized jacuzzi! It was extremely relaxing to use their jacuzzi after a day out in the city! Their gym was well equipped and cleaned as well. The gym had Peloton bikes and complimentary fresh apples! The staffs also went above and beyond to make me feel extremely special for my birthday. I stayed here as part of a conference block during a conference at Moscone. From a location perspective, it can't be beat if you need to go to Moscone West. I stayed here once before many years ago, but I didn't remember a ton about it (I should've checked out my earlier review first). I'm in town often for conferences at Moscone, so I've met friends here for drinks or hung out in their lobby area several times. My room was amazing. I had a king suite and it was gigantic. I had a full bathtub and shower, two sitting chairs, and a long area that served as desk, dresser, fridge and coffee station. The only thing I can think of that needed a tweak was a towel bar on the bathroom by the sink. Note the do not disturb sign is a switch. I didn't switch it on when I arrived and staff almost walked in on my. To be fair, they rang the doorbell, but I didn't know what it was. Overall, I have no complaints about my stay here. I didn't dine here at all, but I would expect hotel prices. I would definitely stay here again. I can't comment on the regular rates, but as part of a conference block it was a steal read more
