My wife and I want to remodel our kitchen with new cabinets and opening up a wall for open concept to our family room. We had one other interior decorator make a proposal with her contractor, but wanted to talk to more than just one decorator before we move forward and hire someone to do the work. We responded to a mailer advertisement from Interior Affairs. My wife made the appointment and she was told it would cost $100.00 just to have them come out and meet with us, which she agreed to. Vickie and her general contractor showed up on time and listened to our ideas on our remodel. We asked Vickie for any suggestions she may have and she told us we would have to sign her contract and give her $2,500.00 before she could make any recommendations. I thought that was what the first $100.00 she required covered, but I was wrong. That was just so they would show up. I asked her if she could leave the contract so I could read it over before I signed it and she said no. She told me she paid a lawyer to write her contract and she would not leave it with me to read and consider...that I might share her contract with one of her competitors. My wife asked if she could give us a rough idea of what the total cost they would charge for design, new cabinets and removing a 8' wall. The contractor said it would be between $100,000.00 to $130,000.00 Wow....the previous decorator and contractor estimated $65,000.00 for the same job. This did not include floor coverings....just cabinets and a wall removal. Based on her refusal to leave her contract for me to read over and the double high price, my wife and I decided to use a more "user friendly" decorator and contractor. She was very proud of her Yelp reviews...couldn't help but wonder if she hasn't had some of her friends post those raving reviews. We were not impressed. read more

We should have sued! Vicky gives her customers what SHE wants. We asked her for dog friendly flooring but, she gave us hardwood flooring instead. In addition, the installers cut the flooring planks too short. The fabric on the custom $13K sectional she sold us was also cut too short. We asked Vicky for brighter lighting but, SHE wanted low lighting ambience. She gave us shag carpeting when we had specifically told her that we did not want shag carpeting. Her contractor, Green Construction, improperly installed the plumbing in the Bathroom and Kitchen and, knowingly installed a dishwasher that had a bent frame. Over the last few years, we have had to spend thousands of dollars correcting her mistakes. What's more shocking is that she had the nerve to write a wonderful review for us and post it on her company's webpage. read more

I was really excited to have Vickie and her contractor come to my home and discuss my upcoming kitchen remodel. Upon arrival her first question was how much money did I want to spend? I'm still trying to sort that out, but I'm thinking between 50k-60k. Based off of what I shared she said it would be close to 80k or a 100k. I showed them some issues I had with my previous contractor during my bathroom remodels and really wasn't given any input or suggestions. She thought I should redo the floors throughout my house similar to the bathrooms (Ok). Her contractor mentioned my pocket door was too small. Showed them some of the unfinished or lack of finesse in finishing touches from my bathroom remodel and they agreed finishing touches were an important aspect of the job. Walked back to the kitchen where Vickie proceeded to tell me a rendering of her design model would cost $3,500 and that's her fee (her initial consult is $150 and if you decide to go with her that gets credited to the project). All this happened in 10 minutes and she was done. I was lured in by all the 5 star reviews but feel like I was duped. If you decide on a consult I'd ask for clarification, what should be expected during the consult? The quick drop of dollar figures and the lack of consultation just didn't do it for me. Vickie Daeley is a proactive, mindful, and thorough professional design expert. I was looking for more than a decorator as I have a large home which I plan to update, one area at a time. I needed someone who was willing to work on immediate needs and desires but was patient and capable of fulfilling a long range plan. Vickie proved to be that someone. As for some of the less positive reviews below I firmly support Vickie's desire to ask about financial considerations. It is important to honestly inform a designer as to the range of your budget in order that she/he can determine if what is desired to be done can be done within the range. Samples of yardage, flooring, and window design can be expansive or more limited depending on a given budget. No-one likes to be shown choices that are "out of reach." Issues related to quality of all materials, level of workmanship, and level of service were all important to me. Vickie and her competent team allow busy customers to be involved in the fun stuff and not have to deal with all the "glitches" that can and do occur. She stays within budget and doesn't push for more. She also is attentive to "fixing" whatever her client may find in need of a repair. I highly recommend Interior Affairs. read more

Save your money. I found it very expensive and very disappointing. I paid a lot of money for nothing more then the ideas I had for my home that she put down on paper with no additional ideas or thoughts. It took about a month to get the paperwork which was nothing more then what I had said without any additional suggestions. The cost is extremely out of the world on labor and fees.
