Took 20 years out of the life of my 30 year roof. They said they'd send someone out to take pictures but they never showed up or called to reschedule. Needless to say I cannot recommend them and had someone else do the removal who will also do the reinstallation once I get all the damage repaired. Have not received so much as an apology much less an offer to help with repairs. Started to remove the damaged shingles today. The damage is so extensive that the sheeting and 1 truss collapsed and came through my ceiling. read more

Still waiting for the solar power to be functional. Call Rocky Mountain Power to get status of net meter and was told they are still waiting to get the inspection (which was done over 2 weeks ago ) and a photo of the electrical service to be uploaded to them before they will order the net meter installation. Let many messages with IWS. They are very slow to respond. I started thei process back in Novemebr 2025 and it is now May 2026. Someday the solar power might start producing power. Very bad decision to go with this company. Be very carefull working with this company. read more

We had a great experience. We selected Intermountain Wind & Solar (IWS) after evaluating 5 different organizations. Both my wife and I have worked in the solar industry (my wife as an engineer and me in sales). This was our second solar system so we have some experience.  Our sales person was experienced, personable, credible, a good listener, and straight forward. Some of the evaluated vendors displayed their lack of interest by not visiting our home on-site, they displayed a lack of experience, or did not permit us to speak with existing clients. That was not the case with IWS. We were able to go visit an existing customer and really got a feel for the whole process. We really felt that IWS was working hand in hand with their design and install team. They clearly set reasonable expectations. Most of the other companies (not all) were keeping us under the control of sales. We just didn't feel comfortable. The IWS price was very competitive, and the upgrade price for our electric panel was by far the least costly. We decided to re-roof and were expecting to go with an outside firm, but IWS has their own roofing company and the price savings were significant; with the same quality of roof. Plus, one vendor is responsible for our roof and the solar.  I would definitely evaluate IWS to be one of your vendors. They have met and exceeded all our expectations, and have continually been responsive after the sale and implementation. read more

We had a great experience adding getting solar from IWS in 2020 and then again adding to our system in 2024. In the almost 4 years we actually had one of our micro inverters go out on us right in the beginning and they came out soon after to replace it. I have spoke to one of my neighbors that has had the opposite of experience. Their system has been up for about six years and they have had 2/3 of their system down and the companies out of business now. read more

I had an appoint set for 6/17/2022. Steven was supposed to be here at 1:00 P.M. When he did not show I called him and was informed that he overbooked and we would have to do it over the phone. He said he had a 2:00 P.M. appointment and a 3:00 P.M. appointment. Granted we are about a 50 minute drive out where we live but he set the Appointment and should have been here. I have other companies willing to come to my house and give me a bid. We made sure we were home from an appointment we had earlier that morning. This company will not be in mt house. read more

Getting solar panels from this company has been the worst financial decision I've ever made. If you're a novice regarding solar power, be prepared to get ripped off because this company will lie in telling you how much money you'll save in electricity costs over the course of time and install panels in your roof even if your roof and the way your house is configured are not set up to be efficient solar power collectors. They're all about the buck and making the sale. How do I know all this? Where do I start...first of all, the only place that I can have panels in my house due to the configuration of my roof is on the east side. I know now, but didn't know then, that solar panels in Utah should only be installed on south and west facing roofs. That's were all the money savings are. In fact, after I realized that my panels weren't saving the amount of money I was expecting, I contacted a couple of other solar panel installers about my situation. Both times, after seeing my configuration, they kind of just shook their heads in amazement and verbally wondered as to why did I have solar panels installed in such an inefficient location. When I told them that's were they were installed by my solar panel company, they both said that, as a matter of policy, they wouldn't have installed panels in my roof because it would never come close to being cost effective. The guy who sold me my solar package, Bryson Evans, also annotated in their bid package that I would be saving an average of $1150 a year on electricity costs. Well, it's been two years since I've had my solar panels installed and in those two years I haven't even saved close to half of that. He also told me that I would be able to recoup my investment within 9-11 years or so. That's also egregiously wrong. In fact, based on my calculations that take into consideration the installation costs plus how much money I'm actually saving, I'll actually recoup my investment a short 67 years from now when I'm 125 years old. Bottom line is I've learnt my lesson and just wish that I had been as well educated on solar panels a couple of years ago as I am now. I thought I was doing the right thing by going solar and believed everything this company told me without checking for myself and asking them hard questions. Remember, don't listen to what any of this company's salesmen tell you...if you put panels anywhere outside of south and west facing areas of your roof, you're just throwing money away and you're much better off sticking with the normal grid. read more

With IWS, there is the good, the bad and the ugly. The crew of installers led by Caleb and the electrician, Greg, were excellent, efficient and attentive; they worked hard to fabricate a good product. The sales rep, Jason, was effective and attentive initially; he urged us to contact him if we had problems during the install, which we did have, but when we called, although he responded back once, it became quickly apparent that he had moved on and was not really interested in making sure things were right. The UGLY, focused on Chris, the Project manager. 1). From the beginning of the design phase, he did not return emails and neglected those we sent. We asked three times that a Tesla charger be included in the design plan, (which was included in the bid). He never made those changes, hence when the crew arrived to do the work they were not aware of the work required, nor did they have the materials and components necessary, costing us an extra day of work. When I contacted Chris, our assigned project manager, to make things worse, he lied about passing the information on to the installers and he put all the blame on them, never took responsibility for the gross oversight, even after multiple reminders. When I spoke to Chris' supervisor about the issue, word go back to me that Ryan said, "Oh, that's just Chris' personality." And that was that. 2). IWS budgeted two days to complete the work, but when it was clear that they were not going to make the deadline, they made no effort to bring the crew back to finish. Instead, they moved them to the next job and didn't get back to us for two weeks. No progress, no projected timeline. 3). After the work was completed, the company scheduled the city/county inspection as promised, which went well. Following the inspection, the company was supposed to contact Rocky Mountain Power for the net meter installation, stating that it would be done within two weeks. At two weeks, we still had not heard from Rocky Mountain, so I contacted Chris, who said he would look into it--and sure enough the next day we had an email from the Power company, scheduling the meter change, which implies that IWS had never contacted them in the first place. And once again, to add insult to injury, Chris, our project manager, never responded back to explain what the issue had been, nor what had been done to resolve it. 4). Finally, because of a design snafu, which was understandable, we used 30 panels instead of the planned 31. This change was not communicated to billing and we were billed for all 31 panels, until I complained. In summary, the installation crew was experienced and very good--all of them excellent problem solvers. Middle management, the people you need to see the project through, didn't respond to emails, ignored questions, and failed to follow through. They blamed others, and my impression is that they also told lies in order to avoid responsibility. THERE YOU HAVE IT. HARD TO RECOMMEND A COMPANY LIKE THAT. Horrible decision! We were referred by my Husband's Friend and it is the absolute WORST decision we have made! We have had issues from the very beginning. We had the sales guy Andrew in our home in March 2019. The company they use for financing is terrible. The project manager Kevin is a joke! He was supposed to give us frequent updates and he didn't. Any time I was in contact with him was because I initiated the contact to inquire about the status of the various stages. Once all the paperwork was complete, they blamed NV Energy for the delay but it came out later in conversation that Kevin messed up with the panel order, someone in the office dropped the ball with the permits so they had to resubmit the permit paperwork. I only found out about the permit paperwork because it had been over a month since I had last heard from Kevin and had no update about the status. We had an appointment scheduled in June and the installers were a no call/no show. When I called to see when the installers would be arriving is when I was told the appointment wasn't on their schedule anymore. No courtesy call, nothing. We finally got another appointment in Mid August, the installers came. We had asked when the radisource would also be installed in the attic and the installers informed us that a third party installs that product on a different day and Kevin was supposed to have already made that appointment. He hadn't! Andrew had assured us that Intermountain does all installations but neglected to tell us they use a third party for the Radiasource. The panel installers also left our attic light on. We didn't notice until a month later. We finally had the Radiasource installed in late September. The installers were fast but left a big pig mess of their drinks, papers and the leftover wrapping from the product in the attic. We were also supposed to get an Ecobee installed as part of the whole package deal Andrew sold us. As of late October we still hadn't heard from anyone or gotten a call back from Kevin about the Ecobee installation. It was only because they needed our signature that Andrew came out last week (11/13/19) to install it. Andrew was here for over 3 hours, needed to borrow tools and hardware from my Husband to complete the install. Andrew even broke two brand new drill bits that belonged to my Husband. He was unable to figure out how to install it so he left with a promise to return later in the day, around 4:30pm. Andrew ended up contacting my Husband and told him he couldn't make it back. He left the non-working ecobee mounted to the wall. We had no heat until the next day. We had to put the old thermastat back. Andrew sent a HVAC guy out on Friday evening to install the Ecobee. He completed the install on Saturday after some troubleshooting. Today is now November 20, 2019. We had a good rain late last night into today. I have found two areas where the panels are located that is leaking through. I have called Intermountain twice, I left a message for the Service Dept and the receptionist has also sent a message and I have not gotten any responses. I texted Andrew and Kevin and they also haven't responded. This is what happens when the company doesn't care about anything but the money! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

The intial service and install was great. However, after 1 year the system keeps tripping and we lose solar production. It can trip the system several times a day but their customer service says they have no clue when they will fix it as they do not plan to come to our city anytime soon. This has been going on since mid February (2+ months). We are paying the loan on the solar system and yet we are not getting a lot of solar production. The customer service says it's probably not the breaker but still will not come and fix it. read more

Firstly, I'm a proponent of solar power but not under the terms that I could be paying a bill for financing of the panels and possibly an electric bill simultaneously due to Idaho power having the option to reduce how much they pay you for electricity produced by your solar panels. Unfortunately,you don't find this out until after you have signed all of the contracts and then Idaho power gets notified to see if your home meets the power requirements for your panels to be connected to the grid. Idaho power will then send you an email with a YouTube/PowerPoint presentation that will explain why you may get paid for your solar power production at a lesser rate and therefore you have an electric bill on top of your finances panels bill. If you had that presentation prior to signing the contract you might reconsider signing. Of course, the sales team will tell you you are not risk. I just had another solar company reach out to me for an install. I said unless they can guarantee that Idaho power won't change the rates, I'm not interested. They said they couldn't guarantee that. I recommend that you think your solar panel purchase out thoroughly and actually contact Idaho power so that you can hear it from them. I tell you all this because I backed out of my contract after I found out about Idaho powers ability to change the rates pay and now I owe IWS for some fees due to lack of transparency. Ask them directly if they can guaranty that Idaho power won't change the rates and possibly stick you with an extra bill. read more

I chose Intermountain Wind and Solar for my home solar installation after weeks of extensive research and getting other competitive bids. Bryson, the Sales rep was extremely patient with me throughout the process and answered all the questions that I had in very simple terms. The technicians and installation team were also extremely professional, ensured they finished their job on time in spite of cold weather. Their office and project management team kept me up to date about the progress at all times and I never had to follow up for anything. Their professionalism, transparency when it comes to pricing and use of high quality components was what sold them to me. I can't even get these people to speak to me. They have an obvious text bot, that ignores what you are telling it. I have an unusual situation, and wanted to speak to a person to see if they could meet our needs. I made an appointment for them to call when my husband was home, for 5:30 today, thinking I had a person on the other end. I gave them our landline number. Instead of doing as I requested, they texted my cell phone, and proceeded to ask questions I answered yesterday, supposedly from the same person, Alex. I kept requesting that they call, and Alex, kept trying to set up an appointment to come to my property, insisting that all decision makers be present. Really? I finally said I realized that I'm texting with a bot, and stated that if they wanted to do business with us, to have a person call the number I gave them within the next 10 minutes. I got a text back from Alex, saying they understood, and they are a real person. Alex apologized for sounding robotic, and wanted me to confirm the next virtual appointment they have for tomorrow! Sorry, I don't want to waste my time having a bot make an appointment. If you can't speak to me, without requiring me to commit to an in person or virtual appointment, then obviously you don't want my business. Note* "Alex" texted back that they didn't understand my messages, and offered to call and set up an appointment for someone to speak to me. That's what I did last night. Instead, the same "Alex" wasted 10-15 minutes this evening, with the same questions as last evening. I might get fooled by a bot once, but not repeatedly. If a company is not willing to have a human being available before you purchase from them, don't be surprised if you are unable to contact a real person after you have given them your money. The purchase of a solar energy system is a significant investment. If you can't talk to a real person before possibly wasting your time with someone who may or may not be able to meet your requirements, don't expect them to speak to you if you need them later. Shame on you and your bot, Alex, Intermountain Wind and Solar. Hire a real person, and you might not miss potential customers. read more

This review is a long time in the making. I had my system installed in early December of 2018. My initial inspection for net metering hookup from NV energy was scheduled for mid to late January 2019. My system failed inspection because they did not install the disconnects in the proper place. So after waiting for NV energy again to come out mid to late February my system failed inspection again because they did not fix the issue correctly the first time. My system was finally approved after multiple failed inspections in mid to late March. For some odd reason I decided to refer a friend of mine to have his system installed. He has had multiple issues with intermountain wind and solar as well. I also haven't received my referral fee. His system has been working for four to five months now. And to top it all off after thinking that they were doing their job and monitoring my system I login to find out one of my panels hasn't been producing for over a month. Upon notifying them they said it must have slipped through the cracks. And then it took them a week and a half for somebody to come out to my house. So I'm down 1 panel still and regretting my decision to go with intermountain wind and solar. Maybe they're worth a hoot in Utah but in Las Vegas they seem to have big issues. read more

They used to be great. I've worked with them several times. I have noticed they overbill direct labor hours drastically. 10-15% over-quote on hours seems pretty normal (from my ten plus years experience in commercial finance) and I understand having a buffer for the unexpected. Last service call after installing a new roof they estimated 16 hours. It took them less than half of that (including unmasked bathroom and meal breaks inside my house!) They would not adjust the bill from the estimate, which is dishonest and not fair in my opinion as it was an estimate and not a "quote." They also refused to reuse any of the mounting hardware or rails from the original system in the estimate (which were fine.) Huge waste and landfill burden there. SO they billed me for new hardware and then still sorted through the old system and took what they needed. All this special care for a repeat customer lol. read more

While I was excited to put Solar on my house this whole process turned out to be a nightmare. I decided to have 3 companies present their "sales pitch" to me and told each of them I would make a decision within 72 hours of the final presentation. The salesperson from Intermountain was Andrew and while I was initially impressed with his presentation it didn't take long for me to realize I was simply a number to him and this company. During the presentation I was promised a free "Smart Thermostat" as well as Energy efficient light bulbs for the house. While this wasn't something that would sway me one way or another I thought it was a nice offer. I decided to go with them based on my research and speaking with my brother who is a solar representative on the east coast. Here's where the nightmare begins - my install was completed on the 6th of September and they spent the entire day installing the solar tiles and other required equipment. Towards the end of the day I went to see how all was going and noticed they were actually finished and getting ready to leave. I had to make them move all the tiles they removed from the roof. They were going to leave them on my sidewalk which would require me to move them - while not a big deal I felt they should have done this unprompted. Still, I was happy - that soon changed. The city came out to do an inspection and within 5 minutes the inspector knocked on my door and I was informed IWS had already failed and then asked where the ladder was that IWS was supposed to leave (what ladder). I offered them my ladder but the inspector stated they had to fix the failed inspection before they went on the house. IWS fixed the issue and a few weeks later the city returned (I gave them my ladder) and once again it failed the inspection AGAIN. This time for safety reasons - they are required to place the tiles no less than 3 feet from the apex of the house. Ours were 2 1/2 feet. The inspector stated this wasn't the first time IWS had failed a City Inspection for this reason. I was given an opportunity to allow this as the 3 feet was for firefighters to vent the roof in case of a fire - I figured if they needed to vent my roof my house would be a total los anyway so I granted the exception. While the city inspector was on the phone he told the IWS representative that this has happened with them in the past and they wouldn't continue to grant exceptions - at this point I'm starting to wonder what the heck is going on. The next step was the energy company doing their inspection - would you believe me if I told you they failed that inspection also? Well, they did. They were suppose to use a certain type of "ring" on the outside meter - they used the wrong one. The inspector told me that this was the third one they had personally inspected where IWS failed to install the proper equipment (and she isn't the only inspector) It took 6 days for IWS to replace the equipment. Then I had to wait another 2 weeks for the energy company to do their final inspection - it finally passed. In the meantime I was required to sign my loan paperwork and was actually paying both my electric bill and my solar loan. I stressed my concern to IWS and they were very quick to say they would asses my use and energy I lost and write me a check (I was pleased with that offer). So, my system was installed 6 September and went active 19 November and Tina (who was wonderful the whole time) stated that she spoke with Phil and they determined the payment to me would be less than my combined 2 month bill. A reputable company who just made $47,000 on a project should have said "we're sorry for all the delays and failed inspections - let's make it right by covering your electric bill from the time of the first failed inspection. Seriously!! I purchased Solar to save money and it looks like I will have a solar loan and an energy bill every single month. I did purchase a 70/30 system so I knew it may not cover all my energy (I am installing a reflective barrier in my attic to cover the 30%). The funny thing is since my install my system is producing more energy than I am using and my extra energy is being sent to the grid so for them to tell me my system isn't producing enough to cover my current use - is a bold faced lie. Long story short - stay away from this company - the salesperson will "get the sale" and never call back to check on status or ask if they can do anything - the smart thermostat and energy efficient light bulbs promised to me during the initial presentation will never happen (still nothing from them) the install team will do the install but will only clean up if you ask them to, the system will probably fail multiple inspections and Phil the program manager will have a nonchalant (cavalier) attitude. With the exception of Tina and Mauricia the team at IWS simply doesn't care about the customer - you will be nothing more to them than money in their pocket. Just recently I inquired about solar and the first company was very pushy. High pressure sales tactics, pushing an agreement on me, etc. So I contacted IM. At first I was bombarded with phone calls, emails so much so I asked them to back off which they did. I decided to move forward and get a quote but the salesman said he couldn't give me a quote via the internet. I told him my wife is disabled and that we didn't want another salesman in our home right now. He said that they couldn't do it that way and that he was going to pass on my business! Well guess what, if they are going to pass on doing business with someone who is disabled then that in my view is discrimination! Also, not very accommodating are they? They never reassigned our account and we have had installation problems, unexpected fines, broken promises, communication problems, and now 3 month after installation and full payment, we are having a difficult time getting the owners manual and tax information. I was trying to get the estimate for my new business location.Call directly to their office and explained them my project..I talked to the Doug Vause VP Project Development...Wood Cross..he send me email with estimate Idea of my project ..I emailed him back to get official estimate ..never replied. .called him and left him message..no responce. .then I called total Free #....got responce from Isaac Burks(same from Wood Cross )...he said that he will send me estimate over the email in the next few days..after another week of no response I called him..he said that he is sorry but he is not dealing with commercial projects..REALY? so I got 4 week delay now on my project..I think those BIG Companies are looking only for the big projects...if the project is less then 20K they will not deal with that...Same as URAC -ANOTHER BIG COMPANY...after a week of No responce they called me and said that they will transfer me to a different company. .smaller subcontracter...I am glad there is other companies around Utah Valley like GO SOLAR and SOLAR ONE...I got the estimates on the same day..they even came to my location to look at it personaly. .. read more

Very professional, did my homework, checked out 10 solar companies, about 3 were decent but high priced until I said I had other bids and then they reduced by $8k and $4k. I scrapped them and went with Intermountain wind and solar. Straight shooters, incredible service, no pressure, let me tour their facility. I think the other reviews here are not real, they must be the competitor they posted about. My solar production is doing better than they guaranteed. If you're getting solar, do your home work and go with a company who actually do ALL they said they would do. The service and quality is probably the best I've seen in making a purchase like this one. read more

We gave this company 1000.00 nearly two months ago. We have yet to get any kind of commitment on a date to get the system installed. The only response we get from Eric the salesman is that they are still measuring and getting permits and vague excuses that they'll get back to us. We have asked for our money back and are contacting the better business bureau if we don't have it back by September 6th. I wouldn't recommend this company. read more
