When I told the video person they needed to at least move over a seat to remove it from my line of sight, I was told that would not be possible, even -- AMAZINGLY -- though there were TWO vacant seats to the right. I was told my comments were unkind. This, too, is amazing since compromising my experience to satisfy their desire to be center-row is the very epitomy of "unkind." This posture is, however, consistent with comments below that pertain to their arrogance. These guys need to do better and improve their attitude.

On the administrative side, it's been less than stellar given early troubles with costume ordering. We followed details to a T, and as a first time dance mom was a bit neurotic. Costumes arrived and you not only had to melt her I to it, but craftsmanship was poor as there were visible tears in the fabric in multiple spots. Uncertain of what to do, I naturally turned to the dance studio front staff who were rude and basically said I must not have paid attention to the instructions. Needless to say, I was clearly on my own to find a remedy which was not only irritating and confusing but costly. On a side note, and maybe by design but the front lobby is always packed and boiling degrees given it's small cramped size.

It's a great combination of age appropriate ballet activities mixed with ballet terminology and moves. As the mom of a pre-teenage girl whose body image is still in development, this is a crucial component for me. Secondly, the instructors are personable, approachable, and highly talented, and interested the dancers' development. The instructor who manages the jazz, tap, and musical theater programs provides the choreography for the productions, and the results are a classic, skilled and enthusiastic display of talent. She does not have to rely solely on trendy gimmicks or inappropriate dances to design fantastic pieces, yet the productions and recital dancers stay current with what progressive dancers do. Finally, the owner is flexible, knowledgeable, and professional, and makes sure each dancer is getting individual attention when it is necessary. For any parent looking for a dance school, I would stop by the studio and talk to him. He will let you try a class or two for free to see if your kiddo likes it, and there is so much going on there you are bound to find a place.

As a new parent there were many procedural things that I was unaware of, and did not know who to ask. The only positive about this place is their all-inclusive tuition packages. Your monthly installment covers classes, costumes, 4 recital tickets, 2 recital programs, & a t-shirt. It is one of the cheapest in the area but I guess you pay for what you get.

Miss April is so creative with providing extra opportunities to dance like fundraisers, summer camps, the Cary Christmas parade, teas, a daddy-daughter dance, etc... Many GE dancers have earned parts in the NC Ballet's Nutcracker productions. Another thing that we really appreciate about Miss April is her noticeable attention to keeping the girls young ladies by not dressing them like tramps when performing. (Just go to the Cary Christmas parade to see!) In addition to a small, quiet waiting room with closed circuit TV to show the children dancing in the main studio, there is a back room in which you can take young children to watch movies or play, and a nice seating area outside. Located in downtown Cary, it is close to parks and the Cary Public Library. Graceful Expressions is a blessing to my family.
