Some of my co-workers and I went to the International Buffet today for lunch and it was an okay experience. We walk in and were seated immediately, in the back of the restaurant. It was kind of weird that they sat us back there since the place was pretty dead. Not a big deal, just kind of odd. I was hungry so I bee-lined straight to the buffet. Total, I got two plates of a bunch of different 'Chinese' dishes and two plates of crab rangoons. (obviously no crab in them but they tasted okay.) I would have gotten sushi but they didn't have any out when I was eating. They waited till I got my dessert to bring out the sushi; not sure how their buffet sushi would have tasted any way. For dessert, I got a small cup of their self-serve ice cream. It was good, not great. The service was good. they came to our table a few tables making sure that we had refills and asked if we needed anything. The price was pretty cheap for lunch. I got a water to drink and my total was $8.20 - which isn't bad. All in all, the food was okay - typical Chinese buffet food texture and taste. Not sure if I'll go back or not. read more

This place needs to end up on kitchen nightmares. Quantity not quality is what you'll get here. When I said I wanted a buffet experience, I was hoping for abundance AND the food to be fresh- however the rice cooker the owners clearly brought from home had been on (and full) for 2.5 hrs (per the timer on the device). I can only imagine how old the rest of the food was considering the Swiss roll had mold on it. Extremely disappointing, and we will not be back. I hope the owners either turn this place around or retire because this place is a hazard. I regret eating here. read more

Decided to try this nugget again yesterday for a quick lunch. And as always, ended up nearly popping my pants due to intestinal distress. Usually I'm good, and Chinese food doesn't affect me in such a way I'm literally running to the loo, but not so the case. It's very darkly lit, the buffet food was definitely not warm, and 2 pieces of peanut butter chicken doesn't look appealing to the eye when you pass by. Don't get me started on their "ice cream bar". Food was actually not as bad as the other reviews stated ! It was edible but could be better. Place was cluttered like a usual Asian buffet! Fried rice was very greasy! You get what you paid for! There's a sign outside the door that said mask required but only one family came in with mask.3 of the Asian workers were wearing a mask except for one who is not Asian. He was was pushing a cart with a pot of soup while on his phone. He transferred the soup no gloves and no mask! I know mask is not required anymore but as a worker I think everyone should wear it ,vaccinated or not vaccinated! If quality control were to investigate this place I dont think they would pass! read more

I've been coming here since they opened a few years back. This is my first time being a yelp reviewer and I'm surprised to see why there's so many negative reviews here. To me, they are the best Chinese buffet in Omaha. I love the variety of food on their buffet bars. I usually come during lunch time since I work close around. Sometimes I'm short on time and just grab a togo box and fill it up with food and run back to work! I come here with my family at night time and it's still amazing. Sometimes at night, I noticed that they combine the bars to keep food warm, so don't be alarmed. It's still the same number of plates, just combined. They are usually short staffed but I always feel that they try their best to get my drinks filled and my plates taken away. read more

They've improved. I ate at the International Buffet a few times when they first opened. At that time, my conclusion was that they were overpriced for what they offered. I pass the restaurant frequently, and since it's been a while since the last Yelp review, I thought I'd drop in and see what's new. As the other reviews note, this is a Chinese buffet. They have pizza and something vaguely taco-like to justify the "international" label, but an adventure in diverse cuisines this is not. They have much of the usual Chinese buffet fare, but they do have some out-of-the ordinary dishes-especially variations on chicken. Tonight's favorite was the "egg tart," basically sweet flan in a shell. I think they've learned their lesson that charging West Omaha prices in South Omaha just doesn't work, so prices are now in line with their competition. Weekday dinners are $9.99. My host on this visit was extremely polite and accommodating. Unlike most Chinese buffets, we did not have to wait for the check. The interior decoration is relatively upscale for a buffet--especially one in this neighborhood. The buffet is brightly lit by sparkling chandeliers. The furniture is substantial and thickly varnished, and the floor is an interesting green stone-like tile. The atmosphere is fairly quiet. All in all, this visit was a success, and I think I'll give them another try. read more

This place is D I R T Y. A lot of the buffet items are always out or seem like they have been left out for way too long. One time I saw one of the cooks take an empty pan with just sauce in it and pour it over the new one. Gross! That being said the black pepper chicken is one of my favorite things ever and why I keep coming back. Get a take out box of that with an eggroll or two. Its great when they actually have some out and super cheap as its pay by the pound. read more

What comes to your mind when seeing 'International Buffet'? A mountain of magnificent and monumental meat masala? An indefinite and insatiable ice cream infested island? Perhaps a crepe station for your creative creamy nutella filled concoctions? I envisioned a fantasy world where each binge station was filled with obnoxious amounts of buffet goodies from around the globe! To my dismay, this was not the case with I-buffet... In fact, this place is just your average Chinese buffet. I guess new Chi-buffets places have a difficult time with naming since 'China Buffet' and 'Grand China Buffet' have already been taken. Even in the Omaha metro area this can be seen now that owners are forced to use unconventionally odd names such as 'A+ Buffet'. I think the world 'International' is a little misleading so I wanted to put it out there that this is a regular Chi-buffet that couldn't think of any name better than 'Commie Buffet' or 'Rising World Power so BE Afraid Buffet'. Honestly, it was fortunate that this wasn't a worldly buffet because with my inability to refrain from eating everything in sight, it would have been a straight-to-DVD production of Gluttons Gone Wild I and Gluttons Gone Wild II (free S&H if you purchase in the next 10 minutes) Now for review time... Meh... It's ok. I still think Grand China Buffet remains the reigning champion in Omaha, so I'll just give you the details of this place and you can decide whether it's worth the trip. There are five binge stations, a sushi station, ice cream station and a baby mongo grill station. The normal Chi-buffet items are there and nothing really stood out to me as great, but also nothing made me gag. The pepper beef was questionable.... (the question being 'Is this beef?') and the Seafood Rice Noodle stuff was too greasy. The Shu Mai was great and the mysterious meat on the stick was still mysterious but above par from other places. The sushi station was average and didn't have any sashimi like the picture on the Facebook page, which I thought was rude. The baos were filled with leek and shrimp instead of Chinese BBQ pork which was a pleasant surprise, but they lotus leaf wrapped rice only had beans in it and were very plain. The dessert? Again I say meh... Still the typical pudding, bloody banana, jiggly jello, faux pastries and of course the sliced fruit so you can convince yourself that even though you just consumed 5,000 calories of sat fats and msg filled carbs, you're still eating somewhat healthy with the fruit........... I could go on but on average the food was.... well.... average! I only ate four plates so I wasn't able to sample everything, but I'm going to give this place three stars since it's clean, the bathrooms are surprisingly nice, the service was prompt, the food was fresh and warm and there was cheerful Chinese pop music in the background, but again there are no Chinese New Year fireworks here and you won't be doing kung-fu back flips after eating here. We had a group outing here a few weeks ago. One of the girls with us knows the owners, so they made sure to have the restaurant at its best that night. You know how you go to a buffet, and you can literally taste how cheap the ingredients are? This place was it. Lots of options and foods I have never tried before...frog legs, dim sum options, crawfish, and various sea food options. All of it just tasted like fatty butter though. I picked around and had a few bites of the standard dishes, and I sent most of my plates back half full. The taste is just pretty mediocre. I threw the sushi away, it tasted like mush. If you don't care about the quality of taste of your food, go here. Maybe it was an off night. I would rather have fewer options that tasted excellent, which is probably why I don't go to bufffets more than twice a year. I have never had any problems with the food. Always good and hot and filling. I love to be able to do take out. I get a big pile of a verity of food. I'm, in fact, enjoying some left overs I warmed up in the microwave. And I still have enough to munch on for lunch tomorrow. The only thing I have problems with is the complete shrimp. Just left this dive....nothing special by any means! They are rude, and not very attentive at all! 1st of all, we walked into the place and went to the counter (waiting to be seated) a few mins passed and this lady walked by and looked at us as if we were from another planet. We continued to wait. About 3 mins later, a little Asian man walked in and she same one that had been watching us at the counter immediately walked up and asked the man how many? Like we hadn't been standing there waiting to be seated??!! She knew exactly what she had done bcuz she kept turning around looking at us. I had been told previously that the food was good and that's why I wanted to see for myself. Once we were shown to our table I was hoping that the experience would get better...I WAS WRONG! We had to ask (more than once) for extra napkins, water, etc. I can attest to comments that were made previously...the first thing she asked was 'how old is she' ( I had my granddaughter with me). The food was 'OK'...the items that should have been warm/hot was cool. The short ribs tasted like the cook had no idea what he/she was doing. The best thing there was the ice cream! I guess that the name 'International' means that they're supposed to have lots of different types of food from all over. There was NOTHING international about that HOT MESS! There is a much better Chinese restaurant in the Baker's plaza on 90th called HING HONG! The atmosphere is 100 times better and the food runs circles around that of 'International Buffet'! I usually come during lunch time and they have a great selection of food. I come for the black pepper chicken and the broccoli chicken. My kids love the pizza, french fries, and the ice cream. My husband love the sushi and stuff potato. They also are very well price at lunch at $7.50 and even better dinner at $9.99. So we sometimes come for the green peppers Shrimp at dinner. The service are friendly and quick to refill our drink. We will be back soon read more

Overall very good food. Nothing really stands out as spectacular, but nearly everything was average quality. The orange chicken, which they call hibachi chicken, is VERY good. Most of their non Asian food is rather poor to outright nasty, but that's not why I go there. I have yet to try their hibachi grill, but hear it is great. Price is a little high at around $14 a person figuring drink and tip(15%). Last note. Do not arrive early. They open at 10:30 and it takes them to around 11 to have everything ready. I got there one time right at opening and less than half of the buffet was stocked. read more

First of all I would like to say that I've been a regular here at the buffet. Sometimes I come in during lunch since I work not far away from the place. For lunch I love the selection of food. The plates that I almost always get is Lomein, Black Pepper Chicken, Hibachi Chicken, Teriyacki Chicken (absolutely love those!!) They also have a large selection of fruits and desserts that I like. I also bring my family out on the weekends, figure that I'll treat them to some good ole Chinese food, while my young ones love Sushi (which they have too!!!) At night they have a lot of seafood items. There are many shrimp dishes that capture my tastes. You must try the Coconut Shrimp, Black Pepper Shrimp, and can I mention Crab Legs and Duck every night?!?! And recently they've been having new dessert dishes. One of them is Cheesecake. Now I'm thinking this is definitely a bargain since Cheesecake at any other store is around $2-3. The thing I like most is that my whole family can eat what they want without me worrying (they all have different taste buds) Now, I'm saving the best for last. The Hibachi Grill is definitely something to try. They have a section of vegetables and meats for you to put on your plate and the guy will cook it for you. Probably the aspect of the buffet that I love the most. So as I've been reading all the other reviews, I don't notice the lack of service. Yes, the waitresses don't really speak English that well but if I have any concerns or need extra silverware and refills, they always help me. I remember I came there once when only one section of the buffet was opened for seating, but since it was too crowded there and I had my mom with me, they accommodated my needs and let us sit in a closer area to the food. All I always do is ask, and they always help me out. I have a 3 year old and he'll play around with one of the waiters when we are there. Overall, I like the atmosphere of the place. A good restaurant for lunch and a nice place to take my family of 5 out to eat. Let me start by saying that the food is the average and pretty much what you would expect from a Chinese buffet, it's really nothing special. Firstly, My brother-in-law dropped his fork on the floor and went to ask for a new one. They were very rude and acted confused as to why he would need a new one. So this leads into the service here, which is terrible. The workers are unbelievably rude and inconsiderate. My sister and brother-in-law came in from Lincoln to take our mom to an early dinner for her birthday. There were 6 adults and my 3 year old nephew eating, so we were expecting to leave a pretty good tip. So we arrived a little bit before 5:00 and we had to wait for 5 minutes for someone to greet and seat us. The first thing our waitress rudely said when we sat down was 'How old the kid?!' pointing to my nephew. Then we were asked if we wanted Lunch of Dinner, and we said lunch not knowing that there was a difference except price. So after a while they start putting up signs on certain foods that said 'Dinner Only'. They were reaching around and pushing customers out of the way to put these signs up. My dad had gotten a certain type of shrimp that was marked as 'Dinner Only' before they put the sign up. One waitress saw the shrimp on his plate and stood right by our table while screaming to other workers in another language. They yelled across the entire restaurant to each other, which was embarrassing for us and very inconsiderate for other customers. I guess they decided that one should confront him about the three pieces of shrimp on his plate, so she proceeded to come over and touch the food on his plate and say, 'This is for dinner only'. My father spoke up and said that the sign wasn't up when he put the food on his plate. Then the waitress walked away to talk to the other workers and eventually came back and started going on about it again. My dad finally got fed up and told her to just charge him the dinner price. Then she said that it was not a big deal and walked away. The entire thing was ridiculous and obnoxious. After all this, we paid and on the way out the door our horrible waitress was looking on the table for a tip that didn't exist. Please don't go to this restaurant!! Take your money and customer service somewhere else, I recommend Great River Buffet on Saddlecreek for better food and a much nicer staff! read more

Very disappointing! Used to think highly of the place when they first opened, but boy has that changed!!! Everything is sticky. Went to get her to fry up some goodies at the Hibachi grill and the counter was so sticky it was scary. Then I went to use the facilities and 2 out of 3 stalls were plugged up to toilet seat and third when I stepped install my feet made that same sound when your kid spills soda on your tile and dont wipe it all up...yeah; that stickiness all over the floor. Toilets look like they havent been cleaned in months and sink was disgusting with no soap to wash your hands. YUCK YUCK YUCK. We used to go here regularly but after our last visit Im never going back! If you cant wash your hands after using a restroom (its hould be a clean one) than count me OUT! Think about it; if there is no soap for customers what makes you think staff is washing their hands after using it then preparing YOUR food! Chew on that before you go. I exited facilities FAST and said IM DONE to my family and left right out the front door and have never been back which is sad because we used to go every Friday for dinner. read more
