In hindsight I'm guessing it's because it's a family owned business. Something that's not present with Corporate America businesses. They don't care whether or not they get you back as a repeat customer. They get enough new customers just because people go to them for their name (I used to be one of those who trusted them as a woman who knows nothing about cars except to do the regular oil changes). I have a Cadillac Seville and had taken my car into Midas in Lake Zurich about a month ago to look at my brakes. They told me both the front and back brakes needed to be replaced at a cost of over $700. I went to Remington this morning (based on a recommendation from a business manager where I've had my oil changed for the past 20 years). It took them about 35 minutes to get to my car (the waiting room was already full at 7:40am). To me that was very reasonable. I had to make an appointment with Midas and it took them half the day before they came back to me with a quote. When they called to tell me only my back brakes needed to be replaced (at less than half the cost of Midas) I had an instant smile. When I relayed my story to him about Midas' quote he reaffirmed to me that my front brakes still had a lot of life on them and that they weren't in the business to "create" repairs because they wanted to service the customer right and gain their trust so they come back. I'm so happy and they definitely will have me back as a customer for any other service needed. Nice job Remington!!!

My daughter lives in the city and she brought her car out to me because her steering wheel wasn't "straight" and she was hearing a noise sometimes when she turned. I drove the car and couldn't recreate the noise she was hearing after circling around a parking lot for ~10 minutes. I made an appointment with Lindberg Automotive (after getting a referral to them from a friend) to get her car's front-end aligned. We dropped the car with the owner, Doug Lindberg, who is as personable guy as you'd ever want to meet. Doug called me after a few hours to have me come back over and look at the car because he felt additional work was definitely required. We got under the vehicle together, and I concurred with the issues he and his technician identified. Doug kept the vehicle overnight so his technician could make the necessary repairs, and I can't tell you how happy I was with the result. My daughter was also overjoyed with how her car drove. I could have taken the vehicle home and done the repairs myself (albeit much, much slower), but I was under a major time crunch given my daughter needed to get to work and home every day in the city. I trusted Doug to get the job done, and it was done quickly, accurately, and at a very reasonable price. I will be recommending Lindberg Automotive to anyone I know who needs a top-shelf, trustworthy shop for automotive repairs.
