I usually write very positive reviews because I like to focus on the positive. Unfortunately, this review will be an exception. In November of 2023 (7 months ago), I purchased a new 36-month free replacement battery from Interstate Batteries in St. Joseph, Missouri. I bought an Interstate battery because I liked the warranty, the availability of stores across the country, and I received great service from the St. Joseph store. Fast forward 7 months and I am in California, and the battery goes dead and will not take a charge. My charger would charge the battery to 55% then stop saying the battery was bad. I went to the Santa Clarita Interstate battery store and explained what had happened and what I had done. This was on a Friday morning. I fully expected them to test the battery, discover it was bad as I had, and give me my free replacement. But that is not what happened. They forced me to pay a $20 "Service and charging" fee and told me my battery would be ready some time on Monday. Now I was out $20 and lost the use of my truck for the weekend. When I had not received a call by Monday afternoon, I called them to learn the battery was bad and they would replace it for "free." I asked if I would receive my $20 back, and they so no because they had "serviced" the bad battery. Their 36-month free replacement battery needs to have an asterisk that says the battery is not really free, but will cost you $20. Because of the poor service and misrepresented warranty, I will never purchase another Interstate battery again. read more

I had Two Interstate MTP-78's in my diesel truck. One battery failed and was leaking from the top case after 20 months. The other was weak. The manager only offered to warranty one battery. They even tried to only add acid to the battery. These batteries are low quality that only last about 2 years and Interstate doesn't stand behind their warranty. I will never purchase another battery from interstate. Go to Walmart because they stand behind their warranty no questions asked. Seriously guys this was absolutely unacceptable to not warranty both batteries. I can't afford to have my work truck out of commission due to some low quality ghetto parts. read more

When it comes to replacing a key fob battery at Interstate, two words; affordable ease. Like $4.37 today for my Lexus RX remote. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. And there was a kid handling everything from phone calls to the actual battery replacement who couldn't have been older than 17. My guess is that he's probably working for his dad somewhere in the back of the store? My wife and son had told me this was the place to go. Honestly, today I had the worst experience I called them and asked them. What time do they close? He said six . I called again when I was a little closer just to make sure they were open. I told the guy OK I'll be there in nine minutes. It was barely 518 when I got there. I called the guy. I'm like it's close. He's like yeah I had to go and I told him I drove one hour away because I used to live here and I came last time for my battery here i'm always loyal to a place I waited till six. No one showed up. I purchased a car battery nearly 16 months ago and it has not been reliable, even when using a battery-tender. Battery-tender showed green lamp, meaning fully charged, however after driving somewhere and leaving car for four hours, car would not start. Noah, the manager, would not honor the 36 month warranty-- instead sending me home with the same battery that I do not trust. I will never purchase a car battery from Interstate again. For example, if I were to have purchased from any auto parts store or even Walmart, the warranty would be honored. At Interstate, they do not honor the battery warranty. Their warranty is a lie. Once again, if you purchase a battery at an auto parts store, they will replace it if you have trouble before the warranty period is up--- that simple. At this Interstate Battery location, you will be greeted with "the third degree" line of questioning: "How much are you driving car?"-- "What happened- why is it only charged to 4 volts?" My car sits now in a garage with no battery, since the manager insisted upon keeping it for days to charge it. I never received a warranty replacement. I did receive an email from the manager and he is upset with my honest review. read more

After deciding to replace my failing 6 year-old battery, I asked members of my car club for recommendations. Many of them are happy Interstate customers, so I opted for an Interstate AGM battery. It was great for about 8 months, then died due to a bad cell (per AAA readout). I contacted Juliana at Interstate and she handled the warranty claim quickly and efficiently. I bought a battery for my vehicle from the railroad location. The battery has a 48 month replacement warranty. After approximately thirteen months I experienced problems with the battery. I took the battery to the place of purchase and explained that my vehicles battery light indicated a problem with the battery. I was told it would take 4 days to check the battery. That meant I would have to rent a car for a simple warranty battery check. After calling the corporate office regarding my concern, I was told to return and get a loaner battery. Upon returning per the corporate office I was advised of the following. I must purchase the loaner battery. Once my battery check was completed by Thursday would be advised by phone. If my battery was defective I would get my money refunded. If the battery was good after the charge test I wouldn't get a refund and be stuck with 2 batteries. This place is a joke Do not waist your time or money with this establishment. Customer service is very poor. read more

When we were out to check my car's battery, he noticed that my battery is still under warranty. I did not even notice that. My gf and I were very surprised by his honesty. It's very rare nowadays to find people like that. We really appreciate his customer service and professionalism. Careful buying a battery from here. This store is very crooked. I had a MTP battery from 2016. Guy named "Jonnie" was refusing to honor the interstate warranty. Told me it has no prorated warranty. Told me I had to pay full price. I knew however I had some pro rated left. Know your warranty before going there. If I wasn't in a desperate need for a battery I would have argued more. But these guys got me today. Overall wouldn't recommend them. Have guys working the counter that don't stand behind their company values. read more

Had a perceived problem with my car battery, that I had purchased 10 mo. ago. Not know the exact problem I stoped by to have Interstate do a battery check under load. While at it they checked the output of the alternator. Both were good, yet the battery was weak. Knowing my concern of the battery letting me down, Jonathan (Manager) opted to replace the battery with an exact new replacement. My faith in my battery and of my car have been restored. Was my go to place for all batts until they sold me an aux battery for my chrysler van that failed in 18 months. They would not stand behind it or even act like they cared. We contacted the Interstate corp and sent pics of battery. Turns out they sold us a batt that sat on shelf for 2 years prior to sale and sold it as new to me. VERY bad and against corporate rules. POOR business practices. Selling batts past 2-3 months from mfr is no longer supposed to be called new. That's the general rule we were told from corporate. Buyer beware. read more

I went in to have my battery checked for a warranty. The person who helped me couldn't check it because there was a part covering the post. I returned with the battery off the vehicle and it tested ok. I asked about the warranty because I had lost my receipt and he told me my info was in the system but it didn't show any battery purchased. The first and only purchase I made at this store was this battery. I asked why my name came up but no info on the battery and he said, " you must have bought something at some time." In this time of technology, I can't believe a store like this doesn't save info on a computer. Completely disappointed because the only reason I bought this battery was because of the name and reputation. They guy who sold it to me back in 2020 was helpful and knowledgeable. Staff here are good and want to do a good job. Brought my discharged Interstate battery and they did the needed tests, and when that was not enough to accurately know the condition of my battery, they set it up for a low trickle charge and a test. I had to come back two days later (as I came on a Sat.), but I know they don't just rush things and do things per procedure.
