The car was brought in multiple times elsewhere, and expensive parts were replaced without ever actually fixing the issue. I decided to bring the car to Magic Auto and spoke with Daniel. From the start, he made me feel comfortable and confident that they would take the time to properly diagnose what was really going on. Their main focus was identifying the root of the problem rather than just guessing and replacing parts. This review is with a heavy heart as they have worked on our vehicles. If you have a strange issue with your vehicle, just pay the extra money to get a diagnostic at the dealership. I come from a mechanically savvy family, just everyone is elderly now & we like to support local shops. I am not sure what happened, but my GM make kept dropping oil and temp increasing... $10k later... the problem never was fixed. 2 weeks later, the engine is completely dead. Come to find out- all it needed was a new head gasket... not a single thing that was recommended from this shop. This was a well loved and cared for vehicle, we took really good care of it & it is in excellent condition, but now has a dead engine. I am working on finding a crate engine to drop into it... but... again, we wasted $10k. I could go to small claims court & I have a solid case.. but this would take too much time ... plus I'd lose days of work Consider this review as fair warning-- stay away. read more

Needed an estimate for damage caused on the freeway and they charged $50 HUGE difference from 360 Auto, down the street who charged $125 & didnt even bother to list all the damage! The mechanic pointed out all the damage & even placed a zip tie in place to hold me over. 360 Auto never discussed the damage they found. Made an appointment for their 100% free diagnostic service on my A/C system for 2011 BMW, when I got to my appointment they did not want to honor the free diagnostics for the A/C and tried to send me to a shop they recommended to pay for the diagnostic. Wasted an hour of my life and do not trust them to work on my car period. You are only as good as your word! Women Beware. I am baffled by the complete lack of respect and professionalism displayed by Magic Auto. I brought my son's truck to them for a simple repair. The truck was a lovingly restored birthday gift for my son from his grandfather, a retired police officer and lifelong mechanic. Upon picking the vehicle up, I noticed a huge dent in the driver's door. The truck was badly damaged under their care and, worse, left in an unsecured public parking lot. It was like a literal gut punch. Then, adding insult to injury, these people charged my husband and me for a "diagnostic" when we sought an estimate for a previously diagnosed issue. When I spoke to the owner over the phone, he was arrogant and dismissive of me as a woman and even laughed at me when I was discussing the specifics of the mechanical issue. When I called him out, he apologized and said he would be upset if anyone treated his wife this way. He agreed to reverse the "diagnostic" charges, yet never did. Their cavalier attitude towards my concerns left me feeling dismissed and taken advantage of. We have held off on posting a review for months, hoping they would do the right thing. As a small business owner, I would never want to tarnish the reputation of a small business. I even told him I didn't want to post a Yelp, to which he responded he "didn't care about Yelp reviews." Noted! Somehow I get the feeling this is a tactic for them. Ignore them enough, and they will go away. WRONG. Magic initially offered us to drop the truck off again, and he would take it to "his guy" and cover only 50% of the repair costs for the damage under their watch. But, unfortunately, we just didn't trust the vehicle in his care and obtained several of our own quotes, which he ignored. We went to "his guy," who had no idea who Moe from Magic Auto was! Despite our repeated attempts to seek a fair resolution, they've been unresponsive and uncaring. This is not the treatment any customer deserves. I am sharing my experience to caution other women who, like me, expect and deserve better from a professional service. Think twice before choosing Magic Auto - your vehicle and peace of mind are worth more than their shoddy service. Go see Adam at Country Auto instead! read more

My A/C all of sudden stopped working. This place was recommended by my friend. It was a busy Saturday morning but yet our car was diagnosed at a very timely manner. The part was not available at the branch , but they had someone bring it to Valencia branch so we can use the car in the afternoon. My friend had to leave me at the shop because it was not done yet.it will be a 30 minute wait , but if you have two kids - 30 minutes will feel forever. I told Moe if we can go to McDonalds nearby and He happily volunteered to deliver my vehicle there so me and my girls don't have to walk back. This is a topNotch customer service. Honest and fair shop! Stopped by to get a check engine light and a few other things sorted. They took my car in after getting down my info, fixed it the next couple days and had a surprisingly fair rate for the amount of time and effort they put into it. Moe went above and beyond to communicate the issues with me so I could completely understand everything that was up. He told me a few other smaller issues he found (and i knew he was telling the truth because i tried messing with those parts lol). OVERCHARGED. Incredibly disappointed. Joe told both myself over the phone and my wife in person about ~$500 in labor up front for brakes, rotors and shocks/struts front and rear. The scope of work was very clear, there was no ambiguity about what was involved. When the work is complete, labor is suddenly over $1000 and he acts like he has no idea what I am talking about when I ask what happened to the initial quote. Mind you I am perfectly comfortable rebuilding an engine or swapping an axle. I have a very good understanding when it comes to repairing vehicles. TLDR; The quality of work was just fine, not knocking that at all. However, the bait and switch was complete BS. I will steer anyone and everyone away from this place because of it. read more

Bait and switch. Recently took my car for repair. Their e mails say Mastercard, Visa "Gladly Accepted". When I paid with my credit card they hit me with the fee that would normally be paid by the merchant to the credit card company. You bet it was gladly accepted as my repair was in the thousands so the credit card fee was substantial and I had not budgeted for the extra money, it was not disclosed that this was their practice. It's proven that credit cards increase traffic for businesses and in the end it's a win for the banks and the merchant. Not disclosing ahead that on expensive repairs the bank fee will be passed on to the customer and then saying you gladly accept credit cards is disingenuous. read more

I took my car to Magic Auto Center for service and an oil leak. I was charged $250 just to look at my car. The $250 did not go towards any repair. I received a call later the same day with an estimate over $3000.00 in repairs. I said no thanks. When I went to pick up my car it was parked in the exact same spot I had left it( backed in at an angle). I'm pretty sure my car was not even moved. I would not recommend this business. read more

Today was my first time coming to Magic Auto Center and I'm very pleased with my service. For context: I'm a mid-twenties female whose knowledge of cars and their functions/reparations only extends so far. I didn't know what the issue was with my car, all I knew for sure was that it didn't start. After getting my car checked to assess what the problem was (turns out it was my battery), Danny explained all the necessary information I needed to be aware of and additionally the reasoning behind what could've caused my battery to die so early. I didn't feel pressured to pay for multiple services, everything I paid for was of my own volition and at my own discretion given the information I was presented regarding the status of my vehicle. I was treated kindly and respectfully considering I know little about cars and car malfunctions as I stated prior. He thought it would be a good idea to tell me how difficult it would be to work on my vehicle since there are SOOO many components and hoses. Then he asked how many miles it had on it. It has high miles. When I told him he had more attitude. I told him I just wanted to get a repair and asked if he could fix it. He said yes but it would be a while before they could look at it or diagnose. I just told him we would go somewhere else and let him know he was very rude. I'm leaving LA eastbound and down. Wanted to ensure my 2001 Lexus GS300 with only 80k one owner family miles was worth investing some more $$ in to keep alive. He/she/it needed a head-to-toe once over after being the first car for Thing #1 and Thing #2 .... one of whom had a minor front end event ... then being ignored during "work from home" and here we are. Full fluid and filter replacement, a gasket, full shock/strut replacement and let me know that one tire and my spare should be replaced (NOTED), my trunk does not stay open (thanks but it's ok...I know when to duck. All in they covered what I expected and then some. The best part was when paying ... I found out that their warranty has value in FL because of their network of repair dealers across the US. If I could give this place a zero, I would. I took my BMW in to Magic Auto to diagnose and fix my A/C unit. After a week, they finally got around to diagnosing the car. They told me that they could fix it and make it like new. They claimed they had a certified BMW mechanic. I agreed to let them fix it. It took them another week to fix my car. When I got the car back finally, after charging almost $2000.00, within a month I heard a loud humming-like noise coming from the A/C unit. I let them know immediately that there was a new noise coming from the unit and that it wasn't cooling or blowing efficiently. They stated that I had a one year warranty so I should bring it back in. When I finally got an appointment, they told me that since they fixed the compressor that the new noise was going to cost another $1000.00 to fix a new problem which I did not have before bringing it to them in the first place. I will never go back to this place again. Luckily my wife is a litigator, so we are preparing paperwork to sue them for their unscrupulous business practices. It is time to teach them a lesson that they can't screw consumers and get away with it. I plan to make it cost them triple the amount they charged me for terrible, incompetent work on my car. read more

These dude are scum bags and charged me for a compression test they didn't even do. I literally just had the compression tested right before I brought it there and have the test results to prove it. Then they tried to charge me a 75 dollar a day fee for parking my car there after I refused to pay to have a new motor installed when there is nothing wrong with it. I had some issues with my Dodge ram. It's hard to find a decent diesel mechanic that knows what he's talking about in California. Joe and all of his staff at magic auto or overly confident assuring me they could fix the issue and they did. They also called me and walked me through every step of the process as they were troubleshooting and letting me know they were working on my vehicle The severity of the repair was pretty high. I was anticipating the worst as I am fairly mechanically inclined. I feel like the pricing for a full turbo install was very fair for this specific model from when they diagnosed my truck to needing a full new turbo to when I got it back was only Three days and that included ordering the part he's guys are good and very responsive.
