Took my 2015 Mustang GT in for a leaking differential. Typically I visit another shop in Santa Clarita, however after calling I discovered the diagnostic rate is lower by a measurable amount and the reviews were all great. I brought it in same day and within an hour I had the issue, fix, and quote. I can also appreciate using text over calls, a lot more convenient. The cost wasn't outlandish and because of that I opted to get my spark plugs replaced as well. I'm very wary of who works on my car and getting pictures and frequent updates puts me at ease. They even straightened out my exhaust that was sagging on one side. Overall great experience, just found my new shop. read more

I do not like writing negative reviews and very rarely do so, but this issue was so egregious I felt others should be aware. I waited a few months before writing to make sure I did not need a new radiators as Platinum advised. During my oil change, which was great, I asked to look the care over, especially the brakes. Upon inspection they said I needed a new radiator. I was suspicious as I was not losing any coolant, and no traces of any leaking. Also said I needed new brakes on front and rear, which I questioned the rear. The front brakes were needed. I then took the car to my old mechanic in another city. He said I needed front brakes. The rear brakes were at 50%, wherein Platinum said they were 15%. He also could not find any leaking or deterioration of the radiator. He suggested the cap did need replacement. Platinum had showed me a picture of a radiator purported to be mine of corrosion at the bottom of the radiator. There was no corrosion at my later inspection, and my old mechanic did not find any. This means the guy showed me some stock photo he had of a corroded radiator. After many months on driving there are no radiator issues, as there wasn't when I drove in, except maybe a new cap was needed. The quote to do all the work by Platinum was north of $2,300. The work I actually really needed cost me $455. read more

We had a situation with our 2015 Prius where a rodent gnawed through the EVAP hose right above the fuel tank resulting in a persistent "Check Engine" warning light. I contacted Patrick at Platinum Auto Repair because of the great Yelp reviews. It turns out that Toyota only sells the EVAP hose with a new fuel tank. The hose is not sold on its own (I confirmed this with Toyota). Patrick and his assistant drained the tank, replaced it with a new tank, and reconnected all of the hoses all in one day. Patrick retained the damaged fuel tank and hose so that our insurance adjuster could inspect the damage (it turns out that damage due rodents was covered by my AAA insurance, less deductible). We also had Platinum Auto replace the front and rear brake rotors and pads (the first brake job in 85K miles). Patrick showed us all of the old brake parts so that we could be confident that their replacement was absolutely necessary to safely operate the vehicle. We are really impressed with the quality of the work and will use Platinum Auto Repair again. read more

Platinum was one of many places I was looking at to do a Toyota front and rear brake job and although Patrick wasn't the least expensive, what made my decision to go with him was how he conducted himself on our phone call, patiently answering questions and the vibe/energy I was getting from him. Had problems with a truck that wouldn't start after running without issues so I called Platinum Auto Repair and spoke to Patrick. He went through diagnostics with me over the phone and gave me a procedure to get anti theft settings reset in hopes that I wouldn't have to bring the truck to him. Anytime a mechanic will volunteer his time and go out of his way to help solve the issue to save you money without the car in his shop (free of charge), that's a good person and mechanic. Most other mechanics would want to see the car so they can run up a bill. Patrick wanted to see if he could solve the problem over the phone to save me time and money. Be VERY careful with these guys. This is long but in light of all the positive reviews here I strongly suggest you read this. I ran over a ladder on the freeway and cracked the oil pan to my transmission. I went in for a diagnostic to make sure nothing else was damaged, and they confirmed that it was just the oil pan that needed replacement. After dropping off the car, I YouTubed how to replace the pan, and it honestly appeared easy enough to do myself. But since it looked so easy I figured I'd get a quote because it couldn't be that expensive. This shop quoted me around $1,700, stating that they had to raise the transmission in order to get the pan off. The owner (Patrick) sat there and tried to tell me that the carriage was in the way and because of that they had to remove the carriage and raise the transmission to get to the pan. He showed me a pics of how the carriage is in the way and chuckled as he scolded Toyota for designing the car that way. He clearly thought that I'm stupid. Maybe it was the fact that I dropped the car off in a suit (cuz I was coming from work) that made him think he could get one over on me ‍ In reality, you can unscrew the bolts from the pan, and it slides right out at an angle. No need to remove the carriage or raise the transmission. I paid the $135 for the diagnostic and went my way. I took the car to the dealership, because this guy was clearly scamming me and I wanted to see what the always-so-expensive dealership would charge, and if was rly going to be $1,700 I would just change the pan myself. It was $600 total including parts and labor at the dealership. The job took about an hour and a half. Realistically, with the right tools, this is a $300+parts job. Here's the lesson: Most mechanics, no matter their ratings are crooks. This guy, with all of his 5 star ratings, is a crook. Always YouTube what it takes to repair whatever issue you're having with your car, and compare that to what your mechanic is telling you. And if you're smart, just avoid this shop altogether. read more

Pat and the team were incredible. I took my daughter's European car to them for an AC problem after just buying it (used). Pat was awesome and offered a full inspection free of charge. During that inspection, they found some cracks and other issues with the front lower control arm ball joint assemblies. He gave me an estimate which after a quick google search seemed very fair. Pat had them replaced and ready to go the very next morning and even showed me the old parts that he replaced and where the damage was (it was obvious). This is a critical safety issue for my teenage daughter and Pat helped to make sure the car was safe. THANK YOU.
