Can I give six stars? I wish I could, because Toni worked magic on what I thought was an impossible reweaving job. I found that the local moth population decided to enjoy lunch on me. Literally. They feasted on the left shoulder of my suit jacket, chewing not one but two holes that couldn't be hidden and had to be fixed. The location was along a very thin strip of thread that had somehow been left intact and that one piece of cloth had to be kept in order to maintain the integrity of the weave. Toni worked through and around it, keeping the thread intact while weaving through the damaged portions. She had to perform this feat not once but twice and mended the jacket flawlessly. To this day, I only know where it was mended and how bad it looked because I saw it myself. Everyone else has no idea that it involved major repairs. It took a while to get my jacket back...I left it for an extended period of time and my wait was well worth it. As for the service...it's old school, in a good way. I brought the jacket in, and Toni spent an extraordinary amount of time explaining the nature of the damage, the possibilities for a successful repair, and the costs. This is service that expects when great care and painstaking attention to detail really matter. I'll admit the cost was substantial, but the cost to replace the suit or at minimum, the jacket, would have been hundreds of dollars more. For the expense and time, the final product and Toni's service exceed all expectations. read more

She is a miracle worker. I took two cashmere sweaters, one mine and one, my wife's. My wife's sweater was a Loro Piana Baby Cashmere sweater that had two holes from a tear caused by a car seat rolling over the sweater. You cannot see where these holes were today. My sweater was a 12 ply Cashmere cardigan that, over 10 years, had some holes, tears and other damage. Again, it looks brand new, other than the wear of the thick cashmere. I was sure that my treasured, vintage Hermès scarf (that I'd inherited from my mother) was beyond repair after I accidentally tore it a hole about 2" long across the middle. I was literally frozen in horror at what I'd just done lol! Thinking it would be pointless, I did a Google search anyway for "reweaving-Boston" and found Toni. I knew my scarf was in the best of hands when she sat down with me and examined the damage as I droned on (and on) about how much the scarf meant to me, and how horrified I was when I heard, then saw, that fateful "rrrripppp." 6 weeks later and my beautiful scarf was restored, looking good as new and ready to wear. I do not normally write these reviews. I can be a cranky, older customer who does not put up with much. But Invisible Weaving deserves high marks.This is a rare, perhaps almost extinct skill that Ms. Colombo is keeping alive. The work she does is almost like magic. If you have something that needs a repair no ordinary tailor can do, this is the place to go. One thing though, you must be patient. As there is no one else in the Boston area who provides this service the wait can be long. But it is worth it. As to the cost? Very reasonable given the rarity of her skill. Also, should you have a something old and sentimental, then this should not be an issue. read more

BEWARE! Dishonest appraisal, terrible quality work, aggressive and insulting, no refunds. My suit jacket had a small hole in the shoulder, due to moth damage. I chose this service in response to previous Yelp reviews. When I dropped the jacket off, Toni asked for a "deposit" that was in fact the entire payment for services. Clearly the generally-accepted definition of "deposit" is lost here. Toni proceeded to unpick the seam of the jacket shoulder - I was told she would not repair this, and that I would need to see a tailor to repair this damage. She then treated the moth hole with a patch! A clearly-visible patch! NOT INVISIBLE AT ALL! The jacket is now ruined, with an obvious patch on the shoulder and an unpicked shoulder seam. Much worse than the initial condition, and completely unwearable (please see submitted photo). I contact Toni on the phone to discuss my disappointment, and was met with rude, aggressive and insulting comments. I was told that there would absolutely be no refund. When questioned about this further, she began to personally insult me and my profession (I'm a doctor), which was upsetting. Finally, she yelled at me, insulted me one last time and hung up the phone. Needless to say, I was left with a ruined jacket and no refund. Just an awful, terrible experience. Please do not make the same mistake that I did. Avoid this service at all costs. read more

Toni saved my Canali suit. Several moth holes in highly visible areas had rendered the suit unwearable, so my options were to trash it or have it repaired. The tailor I normally use attempted to repair it and succeeded in a couple of areas. But the giant hole in the front of the suit became a highly visible knot, so it was still unwearable unless I wanted to hold my arm in a very uncomfortable position the entire time I wore it. So not an option. Then a salesman at the high-end men's store north of Boston told me about reweaving and attempted to connect me with someone he had worked with for years. Unfortunately that person had retired. Then I found Toni during an internet search. I called, we met and then she weaved (reweaved) her magic. Now I have a fully restored, good as new suit. My only regret is not having taken before photos so that I could share Toni's remarkable work with the world. So don't toss that damaged suit, call Toni. You will not be disappointed. read more

I recently purchased a new, custom made suit that I love. I am retired and don't get to wear a suit very often anymore. I had only worn the suit three times and the next time I put it on there was a small 1/4" roundish hole just above the right knee. I don't know how it happened. Needless to say, I was very disappointed and thought the suit was ruined. I did some internet digging and found that there were businesses that are called reweavers and there was hope the suit could be repaired. I found Columbo Reweaving in Boston and called for an appointment. When I arrived and presented the pants to Toni she examined them and told me she could fix them, but that it might be visible, but it would be very hard to see. After having tried other tailors and seamstresses that said that the hole repair would not be invisible, I decided that I'd leave the pants with her and take a chance. A new pair of pants from my suit tailor would have cost almost twice as much. She said it is very slow work and that it would take about a month. When I came back a month later, I was astounded that there was no trace of the hole other than a piece of red thread which Toni had placed near where the hole was. My suit was new again. I was very pleased with the work and will not hesitate to recommend her work. read more

When I got a small hole right on the highly-visible right bicep area of a newish glen plaid Brooks Brothers suit, I figured the suit was ruined. Our local tailor referred me to Toni Colombo, and after checking out her website, I made an appointment to meet with her. I had low expectations that anything could be done, but Toni explained it would be a tougher job, but it could be done. Boy, was she right. She did exactly what she said she would do in the exact time frame she promised, and you cannot tell that the suit has been repaired, even under a magnifying glass. Dealing with Toni was wonderful; she's extremely professional and organized. In summary, this was one of those rare experiences where I was pleasantly surprised by every aspect of my experience, and after I picked the suit up, and walked around the office showing people the 'before' picture and challenging them to find where she repaired it. Columbo re-weaving is simply superb. You will be satisfied with the results. I ripped a favorite suit jacket on a door fixture and thought that this was beyond repair. The re-weaving was a very demanding job, but the results were excellent. I cannot tell where the suit was repaired and where the original fabric begins. I had a hole in my sweater righ tin the front from the dry cleaner. It was my favorite cashmere sweater. The tailor wanted to pinch the fabric together and sew it up. The results were amazing. You can't see the area she fixed at all unless you hold it up to the light. Lucky for me I'm not transparent so its invisible and not puckered. If you go mention yelp to her, she is learning the power of yelp. She does require payment up front and its not as cheap as a tailors cheap stitching it together but the work is so amazing. There are online places but the wait is 5 months, my sweater took 3 weeks (and that was due to a vacation back log). The prices are the same but once you factor in shipping and handling it is more expensive. The place is run out of an apartment and the hours are small but far better than never meeting a person and just shipping in a sweater. If you have moth holes or other holes this is where to go. I thought my favorite sweater was a dead, now I'm never letting the dry cleaner touch it again. read more

My wife and I had arguably our worst ever experience in customer service at this institution. The reweaver is one of the only available fabric repair services in the Boston/RI area. We are from RI and contacted her regarding three small (less than 5mm) holes in my new Hugo Boss Black tuxedo. The tux was from our wedding and carries a lot of sentimental value, so we were eager to have it repaired. We described the defect and offered to send the reweaver photos, but she adamantly refused to provide us with any estimates until we presented the tux in person at an appointment. While we understand that exact estimates cannot be provided without seeing the product, we were asking for at least an initial range (100s, 200s, 500s, etc). She refused, so with no other choice, my wife kindly brought the tux to Columbo while she was in Boston for business. The seamstress then stated that her typical price range is $100 per hole, regardless of size, and that the total repair would cost $325 including a rush fee because we required the tuxedo in 2 weeks (her routine delivery is in 1 month). We politely and kindly asked if she was willing to negotiate the price, and the seamstress quite literally forced my wife to leave, kicking her out of the shop. We have never experienced unprofessionalism, rudeness, and hostility to this degree. My concerns regarding the business are not the actual price point. While I think her rates are outrageous, given market demand, if she is able to charge her customers those prices and do business, that is her prerogative. My issues are 1) her absolute refusal to provide any pertinent information on the phone before forcing us to travel 60 miles for an appointment then bluntly telling us that she has a clear baseline price of $100/hole. This is a classic "bait and switch", dishonest tactic designed to force customers into premature commitments. And 2) her frightening hostility in kicking out my wife at the first mention of negotiating a price, an experience neither of us have ever had. I strongly caution all customers to be very wary of this business. There are many invisible reweaving institutions on the East Coast, particularly in NYC, and we will be shipping our tux to one of these institutions for repair. read more
