Alright... 4 or so years ago I got a horrible cutlet from here and it kinda turned me off. However, as I spend more time in Philly I find that the roll is always whats missing on a Delaware cheesesteak. Thats what brought me back here. Dare I say, best roll in the state of Delaware and definitely one of few seeded and made in house. Some issues with availability of things, and whats inside the sandwiches isn't always consistent albeit never horrible. but damn, that roll is good. First, I have to say the service here is great! the people are friendly and fast. Everyone that walked said nothing but good things about the food. I had the roast pork supremo broccoli rabe with sharp provolone cheese sandwich and it was super tender. The broccoli was something new that I have never had before in a sandwich but it opened my eyes and I couldn't stop eating it. The slightly spicy sauce that this sandwich had just kept me coming back for more. The flavors are balanced you won't want to add anything to it. It's like no other sandwich you have ever had before. Just make sure you get this sandwich supremo, it will catch you by surprise. I ended up also trying their dessert which was a rice pudding and it took me home. The rice was the right level of soft and chew, and the milk was creamy with the right amount of cinnamon and sugar. Man it was good! It didn't make it back to my room it was so good. What used to be the pride of New Castle has slipped a bit in the way of quality. Limited business hours, closed Sundays, an online ordering platform that seems to never be up and running and gummy rolls. They experienced a makeover a year ago and seem to be steering a bit away from the Italian vibe and more towards mainstream American tastes. Decently priced for the size, definitely some value there. The only real Italian sandwich on the menu, The Paisano, is only available a couple hours a day. Why is that? Everything else available is run of the mill-Turkey, ham, minced cheesesteaks etc. Their chicken cutlets are their pride and joy now, whereas the Roast Beef was also their thing before the price of it was astronomical. The display case options were once full of long hots, stuffed pepper shooters, salads etc, now seem depleted and overlooked. My wife likes sandwiches. I don't care for the meat. The rolls and vegetables are fresh though. The last time I went there, which was months ago, I ordered three sandwiches for pickup. I get to the counter and was totally ignored by all staff. With all the amazing reviews, how could I not stop here when I'm in the area on a rare occasion. Had my heart set on a roast pork with broccoli rabe but since it was the weekend they said beef and pork aren't available. Really... in a place known for it. So I decided on an Italian sub with the works. It was huge, stuffed, juicy and delicious. The lady at the counter couldn't have been friendlier. The space is clean and a tv available to pass the short time I had to wait. Would highly recommend. I used to love this place to get chicken cutlet. That chicken breast was so tasty. He buying the cheaper brand of chicken breast. They went up on the price went down on quality. The service is not all that good. The girls spend most of their time talking. I watched the girl make my sandwich, did not like what I seen. She was touching the raw meat while she was making other sandwich. I spoke to the owner about it, and he said that is not cross-contamination because the chicken is breaded. she's picking up raw meat putting it on the grill then she go back and finish your sandwich. Touch your bread and everything. I think she should put on new gloves. I'll keep my opinion and my money in my pocketbook. I tried the Pork Supremo, Roast Beef and Provolone, and the Giuliana. I came here after seeing this place get ranked best sandwich in Delaware by the NY Daily News. Everything was mediocre...and that's putting it nicely. I completely understand the whole philly outside of philly vibe. And a lot of other people must understand it too because they had an army of workers in here going full speed ahead. But the sandwiches...ehhh. The bread is soft and chewy and was the same as your basic hoagie roll. The roast pork and roast beef were somewhat dry, but I could tell it was homemade. The chicken cutlet was also homemade but it was so thin - we're talking like an eighth of an inch thick so it was barely tastable. What drags these sandwiches down is the massive chunks of garlic in the broccoli rabe, and the wildly strong bite from the provolone. The cheese hits you at least an inch before the sandwich goes in your mouth. So yeah, this might be the best sandwich in Delaware. But NO, this is nowhere near some of the spots in philly or elsewhere. read more

Good execution on the bread, fairly good chicken execution. The flavor profile was weak. I ordered the Chicken Cutlet Supremo. The sandwich was decidedly too earthy and acidic. The flavors were one-dimensional. The bread was awesome. Nice and soft and chewy. The chicken cutlets were breaded a bit wet. The chicken itself was fairly good, but was a bit salty and non-interesting in flavor profile. The sharp provolone and brocolli rabe was way too powerful of an acidic flavor for this sandwich. It totally dominated. I had to physically scrape the rabe and cheese off just to palate this. That said, this is a lot of food. For some constructive suggestion: crisp up the chicken breading. Use mozzarella instead of sharp provolone. Add an element of sweetness to the mix. Introduce a bit more fat like mayo or butter. read more

Decided to check out this place after heating about it. I ordered a cheesesteak and the gf ordered a Hot Roast beef with gravy. It only takes about 5 minutes to get home if that, as I live right around the corner. I must say we where not impressed. The medium subs are so skimpy that by the time we got home the food was cold.
