Very helpful in answering any questions. Met who I think is the owner and she was very nice. The place is pleasant inside. We wound up getting the pesto zucchini noodles and the tostada. And both were terrific. My wife and I shared and were very happy with dishes. Didn't want to leave a single noodle! I would definitely return if I lived close. The meticulous care that goes into everything Ionie does is incredible and you can taste it! The cleanliness standards, the way that Ionie and staff sources and lovingly prepares every dish really comes through. Everything is bursting with flavor and freshness! The colors are vibrant and the crunch is definitely there! My favorites are the taco salad, the greenest green drink, and the toffee cookies for dessert. But I have been eating here regularly for months now (ever since I moved to Sarasota and this restaurant was one of the reasons I moved here) and every single item that I have tried, and that's a lot of items, has been really amazing! The pizzas are something special, the Jamaican spiced cashews are wonderful, the chocolate brownies are great... and don't even get me started on the smoothies and teas! We tried several along with a couple lunch offerings: Zettachini Al Funghi and Taco Salad. Food was freshly prepared and delicious. Ionie's is located in Downtown Sarasota across from Whole Foods. This place is so cute!!! It's right on Fruitville, close to Tamiami in an adorable house-turned-cafe/retreat center. I found them on Yelp when I looked up close by "healthy food spots" the other day, and finally decided to stop in this morning while on a walk with my woof. VIBES: The cafe kind of has a hole-in-the-wall vibe, which I totally dig! They have a few small tables outside on the deck, which is where I posted up with my dog. When I walked in, I immediately noticed to my left a small kitchen in which the staff makes everything from scratch. Ionie (the owner) and Karen were both in the kitchen making taco salads when I got there. They noticed me after a few seconds and were super friendly and welcoming - love that! EATS: I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to get for food, but after Karen graciously took me through the menu line item by line item, I decided upon the 'Shake Your Tail Feather' smoothie. This smoothie is a delicious combo of creamy almond milk (made in-house I believe), sweet coconut nectar, bananas, cacao, and cayenne pepper for a little kick! It comes in a beautiful glass mason jar that you can buy for $2 and keep, or you can enjoy the smoothie there and give the jar back (which is what I did). The smoothie came out to about $15 with tax, which is a little pricey for a smoothie in my honest opinion, but considering everything is homemade and organic, I can see why it's priced that high... All in all, I highly recommend this place if you are health-conscious, vegan, and/or looking for a great juice/smoothie spot.
