I went into the post office to address the missing check and spoke to Sherman behind the counter. He was attentive and thoughtful, and told me he'd get to the bottom of it. When I got home, Cheech was at the mailbox and my check had arrived! 3 delivery days later. So thank you Sherman! I appreciate your concern.

I attended a free succulent class last night in the community room... it was well attended plus we walked out with two succulents we were able to replant and take home. The instructor Ryan was very passionate about his succulents and he was extremely encouraging. He made me think I just might be able to keep these alive. Fingers are crossed... Tomorrow I am attending a class on how to declutter there as well. I can only hope I can bring the instructor home to help me... (haha) actually I am hoping to pick up some practical tips. Urbandale is a pretty typical American suburb. It's a prototype. Proto-typical, even. But in its southern area, it has some interesting neighborhoods with some older original local stuff. Also I'm a big fan of the food court in the mall, which is full of locally-owned eateries including a tamale place, and a local traditional Maid-Rite, and a gyro place, as well as a bunch of others. The Kohl's is one of the better stocked stores. The mall seems really quiet which is a shame because it's very futuristic. They were a few cute girls in here but it was largely deserted on a Thursday evening. I don't understand how most businesses in malls really make enough money to pay the rent. Nearby: I highly recommend you try the Hiland Bakery, with it's yum goodies. And Classic Custard too, for, well, Classic Custard. And the Bubble Tea at Bubbly Tea House is authentic, which is shocking for this state. Think about it. There are some good food options here as well as some bland but original and unusual local specialty foods. Such as the tenderloin, best served at B & B. Anyway if you think I'm gonna make this review any longer, you must have been smoking the Urb.

But some of the walk-ins... They were pretty disgruntled. There were so many walk-ins they were having to send some of them home because there was no way to fit them all in with the scheduled appointments. I'd really encourage you to use their site and make an appointment online v. just walking in. If you do choose to walk-in I'd recommend doing it shorly after they open and not wait until later in the afternoon (when my appointment was). I worked with a female tech this time. Probably around the same age I am (50s)... She was great! I was in and out within a few minutes of being called up. I also ran into the same tech who had helped my daughter and I a while back... Can't say enough about the helpfulness of the staff here! Like almost every government office they seem to be running with minimal staffing. And they appeared to be doing the best they could with the limitations they had. As I stated above... I'd really suggest helping them to help you and make sure you book your appointment online. And if you arrive as a walk-in... They are busy and can't get you in... You are pissed off because you didn't plan ahead. Don't cause a scene. That's on you....not them.

I made it for 1130 AM on a Monday. So what they don't tell you is that they give everyone lunch from like 1100 AM - Noon so when you get there after 1100 AM don't expect for any more than one of two lines out of the 15 to be open. Kind of like Walmart... Only the Polk County Treasurer doesn't have a self checkout option. Even with an 1130 appointment I don't think I was called up until 1215 PM when agents started coming back from lunch and additional windows started to open up. Service was polite enough I guess. Pretty matter or fact and they didn't seem to know why I was there... Even though my number was called and corresponded with an appointment that had all the details in it I'm sure. If you are going to send everyone to lunch... Maybe just don't make any appointments during that time slot? I know your time is valuable, but so is ours.

It was 1:30pm at this point. I explained walk in service was from 1-2pm but she said too many people were ahead of me and she didn't have time. She also acted as if I was a bother to her. It was apparent she wasn't going to help me after I tried to reason with her so I wound up leaving without getting helped. It was hard for me to get there at all due to some difficulties I have and to be treated like that only reaffirms my lack of faith in the USPS.

The building is honestly still absolutely beautiful In it's design. People were very helpful & friendly. Now the- Clerk of Court employees. Debbie, Marsha & Albert. These 3 are God sent Angel's. I have been dealing with a matter over the phone. Via from Las Vegas, NV. From day one. I believe starting July. I have had the pleasure speaking & working with all 3 of these lovely individuals. They all listened to me. Went above and beyond their required job duties. I couldn't thank them enough. So if you are ever needing assistance from the Clerk of Court. Make sure you get one of the mentioned 3 individuals. You are definitely in good hands. I highly recommend this court house.
