I tried to call but the phone system works like the government - barely - so hopefully Sherman sees this. I went in because my Informed Delivery email listed a check amongst other things and the only thing that wasn't delivered was the check marked PAYMENT ENCLOSED. My neighborhood has this silly mailman that just delivers things however he feels and we are constantly talking to each other to get our things to the correct owner. I went into the post office to address the missing check and spoke to Sherman behind the counter. He was attentive and thoughtful, and told me he'd get to the bottom of it. Our local post office has one of the highest rates of lost packages in the nation and they are VERY dishonest as they say they know on doors when they don't (There are things called video cameras luckily) and they lie about delivering packages. After years of doing a terrible job and many new postal carriers and managers I think we should ask for people from out of state to deliver the mail!!! read more

I had 2 packages on they way, both were marked as delivered, and neither arrived. I checked all the information on the end of the sender and verified it was correct and I called and filed a report with USPS costomer service to find out that the address I provided was correct. The process of sorting this out is going to be a gigantic headache I can already tell. Is it so hard to just give people the shit they pay for? Not happy with this service at all. Oh USPS. I'm not sure what's going on with this post office...and no one else seems to know either. Our mail is delivered through this post office, and it's constantly delivered late at night (as in after 9pm), we constantly receive mail for other homes in our neighborhood (and we're talking on different streets...not close neighbors), and most recently, I have a package that has vanished into thin air at the post office. Tracking shows it arrived there and hasn't left...but they can't find it (and I'm SOL because the package, which came from a well known online retailer, wasn't insured, so I can't file a claim). We have spoken with several neighbors, and we are not the only ones with the issues above. I talked to a very kind woman at another DSM area post office, and she told me not to bother calling this post office because they don't answer their phone (Mark O. is correct). I'm discouraged that this government office doesn't have it together. However, I'm giving this location 2 stars because the woman working at the location today was extremely cheerful and was trying very hard to be helpful. read more

Had a package scheduled to be delivered yesterday via one day express. It did not show up due to a delay. I tried making a phone call to inquire about me picking it up but the phone rang for five minutes with no answer. I tried calling back again and got a busy signal indicating they had taken the phone off the hook. No surprise they are bankrupt with "service" like this. read more

This has to be one of the worst run and poorly organized postal "sub stations" I have ever experienced in my 67 years. It serves West Des Moines and Clive and maybe other western suburbs. For over 20 years I was forced to have the mail carriers and delivery from and through them. I had a GREAT mail carrier named Brad for 21 years, who worked out of this place, but he was the exeption to the rule. He was always polite, organized, on time and very good about bringing mail to the door if needed. The "substitutes" they hire are young for the most part, and from what I was told, poorly trained, not trained well enough or simply just wanted a check and benefits and don't care about the quality of their service. They were often very late, put mail in the wrong mail boxes, and left packages out in front of (versus inside my storm door or otherwise in a safe, secure place) my front door on the sidewalk in the rain or other bad weather that could blow away or be stolen. They seriously act like idiots! A high school kid or even junior high kid with average intelligence could do a better job than many of these carriers. I know the postmaster from downtown got so many complaints that she (she is gone now!) came out in person 1-2 years ago and gave them all H*ll, and threatened to fire some of them if they did not shape up. It even made the local televison news! It did no good. The supervisors there seem to be OK to good, but they burn out fast and leave or transfer. I moved from my town home to a large, upscale apartment complex, but I still have my mail come from there, and it is a real nightmare still. I am sure there are intelligent and conscientious men and women who would LOVE to make the money these people make and get the benefits also. I just wish they would find them and HIRE them! If it doesn't improve I will call downtown and try to report them again, and see if that makes any difference at all. The people who manage these apartments have complained time and time again, and yet nothing seems to change much. Waste of taxpayer money and also wasting jobs on people who do for the most part, deserve them. read more

I ordered two packages from Harry and David to be delivered to the same address. One was delivered two days ago and the tracking on the other package says "Delivery Exception" I spent so much time with the automated system in the Clive Postal Office and just went in circles. Cannot get through to customer service. We pay the money to have packages delivered and when they are not, we have to jump through hoops just to find out why it can't be delivered. And I still don't have any answer. Would give minus stars if I could. read more

It's just the worst. Never get our mail on time and there is always excuses as to why it didn't get delivered.

One star is being generous. For the longest time I blamed the City of Clive for their crazy street naming conventions. Why oh why name two non connecting streets the same, one ending with street the other court. To make matters worse some houses have the same number. As a result mail, packages etc often goes to the wrong address, delivered not only by USPS, but also Fed Ex and UPS. Reading the Yelp reviews reveals the Clive Post Office has many problems that surely contribute to their poor delivery record. It also got me to thinking how much does it cost to redeliver mail that goes to the wrong address because someone doesn't know the difference between street and court? Changing a street name or number is complicated, costly and time consuming for the customer what with all information now stored on line that would have to be changed manually. The Post Office has to get it's act together. They are aware of this problem but don't seem to be able to get competent staff to do the job correctly. . read more

Worst post office experience I've ever had. I ship things through Poshmark so I deal with the USPS a lot but this week had to be the worst experience for something I ordered from a different company. I ordered something and the address was incorrect. I realized this during the tracking process and contacted the post office immediatley. The lady stated she would "manually" change it aka scribble out the address and write the correct number. I thought thats kinda fishy so I tried to cover my own butt and did a redeliver ticket online which came back as succesfully created and I received a notification via text that it would be redelivered. The day it was supposed to be redelivered, I received a call and voicemail from a no caller ID number. The voicemail was from the post office saying that it had been returned to the sender. I called back and the guy kept telling me over and over again that the lady I previously spoke to can't legally change the address number. SO WHY DID SHE TELL ME THAT? no explanation ever received on this question. Also, no remedy options other than to contact the seller. Great....thanks for nothing........... read more

Hate the Clive post office. Rude inept people. Bought something on Ebay and was expensive and sent with tracking information and signature required. They came to my house when I was not home and first thing next morning I went to post office to pick it up and they said they couldnt find it. No once cared or seemed to want to look or contact anyone stating they were too busy. I waited an hour and would day they were steady but not busy. They had 3 people and about 10 total customers all with fast transactions. When I asked them to contact the carrier to see what they did with the parcel they couldn't deliver they said they didn't know who the carrier was and refused my request to talk to a supervisor or find out who last had my package. They just said it wasn't where it should be and didn't offer to do anything about it. They never answer the phone. I suppose I could dispute the charge on my credit card and call the sender because I'm not paying for something I did not get but really want that item and it was expensive. It appears no one cares and I have no one to help. If someone stole it or has it they should be held accountable. Very bad people. read more

I would give this post office negative 5 stars if I was able to. People have complained and even gone to the news about the issues with this post office and yet nothing changes. They ask you to contact the post office directly if you have issues, first they would have to answer the phone. I have lived in this area for 5 years now and I have never had so many issues with lost packages, packages taking an extremely long time to be delivered, receiving other peoples mail, and just poor package handling. When we receive packages I have literally watched our carrier stand at the bottom of our porch steps and just toss them up to our door. Needless to say if things aren't packaged well, they break. Also, if you live in this area, don't bother to schedule a package pick up. I have done so several times and they have never shown up a single time for the pick-up. I don't bother anymore. I have complained to the local office in the past (when I could actually reach someone) and they just get mad that you are complaining and are actually rude about it. I had a notification that my package was delivered today. Funny I have no package. They took it somewhere else besides my house. I call 10 minutes before they close, I'm not angry quickly explain my situation. A man named Justin answers, rudely puts me on hold. For 10 minutes comes back without saying anything and hangs up. That's convenient he hangs up at closing time. When he hangs up it's 5:04 and I quickly call back. Of course no one answers because they are closed. They can't do their job right and just deliver a package and can't take 5 extra minutes to tell me where they delivered it to, or help. Horrible customer service. My Neurologist filled out a form that a clerk gave me when I was at the Clive post office.I have MS and the apartment complex put a mail box right in front of my doors I do not go to the "cluster" of mail boxes and risk falling down. I have had to go get stitches and it is not fun falling in the parking lot. I wish there was an opportunity to give this post office zero stars, but I'll have to settle for one star. This post office and their carriers in West Des Moines are absolutely abysmal. They're constantly messing up deliveries to my home and my entire neighborhood. It seems as though every day we're passing back and forth incorrectly delivered mail to each other. My last three deliveries have required me to drive seven miles to this office to pick up packages in which there was no attempt to deliver to my door. No door bell, no knock, nothing. And their records showed an attempted delivery each time! Today, 1/10/18, I'm still waiting for a shipment that was scheduled to arrive on 1/8/18. Their online tracking information showed an arrival in WDM on 1/9/18, a day late. And now, my package was incorrectly shipped to Burlington, Iowa! I called them today asking why this happened and received no clear reason except "our machine made a sorting mistake". Then they (once again!) told me I'll need to drive to their office tomorrow and pick it up! Pathetic post office, pathetic carriers, pathetic organization. read more

I wish there was a zero rating. Doesn't matter when I go there, lines are terrible with one or 2 people working the counters, and most of those select employees are annoyingly rude. They Wouldn't make it in the private sector. Thank god our govnt is more like a charity organization to give these hobos a job. 3 out of 5 people are rude beyond description. Aren't we the customer?? We have options besides the USPS. Prediction: stamps will be $1.00 in no time, they are losing market share...and refuse to live by a budget. Prices have to rise to offset both before the fed has to subsidize even more of our tax dollars to keep running. Who needs mail 6 days a week from unskilled rude people? They are NOT there to help you. They are there to pick a fight with you on any stipulation they can find to cause you grief.
