5 Stars is not enough for this business!!! We have been using the services of iPet Chicago for over a year now and have absolutely nothing negative to say about them!!! We have 2 cats and a dog and travel quite a bit. We used to board our dog at a doggy day care type facility and then just have someone come and check in on our cats every couple of days. Then our oldest cat developed diabetes and now needs 2 shots and pills daily. We looked into boarding all 3 animals, but not only was it going to be way expensive, the animals were only guaranteed to be able to spend time with each other if we paid extra money. This really bothered us and we were also not too keen on the idea of our cats sitting in a cage for most of the day. We then discovered the services of iPet Chicago, Inc. They actually stay at our house for the entire time we are away. They walk the dog, play with all animals, and give the diabetic cat his meds daily all for the flat daily rate they charge...no hidden fees and no ridiculous extra fees!!! They also pick up your mail, etc. while you are away. Our animals love iPet so much that they are often depressed when we return...I guess we are not nearly as much fun as they are!!! iPet offers other pet services, but the pet sitting/house sitting service is the only service we have used so I can't really comment on the others. Diego & iPet Chicago have been great! Leaving town was always an issue for us because we were not comfortable boarding our two dogs and cat and had to always find a friend to sit for us. iPet came highly recommended from a friend and so we gave them a try. They far exceeded our expectations and took great care of our pets & our house. They sent us regular updates and photos and we were able to relax when out of town. iPet Chicago is a godsend for us. I don't know what we would do without Mallory. Our dog was never properly socialized (turned in to animal control as a stray at 8 mos.) so he doesn't play well - or at all - with other dogs. Taking him to a kennel when we travel for work is just not something we can do. Mallory comes to our house, walks our dog, and if the weather is bad she'll spend some extra time indoors working on commands, etc. She regularly will send a photo to us via text of how our boy is doing too - which is always a comfort. One day she was riding her bike in the neighborhood and saw me walking my dog and she went out of her way to stop and say hi and give him a pet. It just doesn't get more genuine than that. If you want expert one-on-one care and dog-sitting services while you're on vacation, you can't do better than iPet. It's always difficult to put a pet in the care of others; but with Mallory I know my boy is in good hands! read more

After using Diego's dog sitting services for about 6 months very regularly (we travel for work often) and feeling good about his services, we had an extremely unfortunate experience with him that inspired me to write this review in hopes that no one else will have to go through what we have. He had successfully watched our dogs a number of times and was very well aware that one of my dogs can be nervous when I am away and has attacked our other male dog in the past (several years ago) with a dog sitter present. Despite being given very explicit instructions to ALWAYS muzzle that dog when outdoors, Diego "forgot" and my two dogs got into a fight at the fence while I was away (and out of communication, staying in a National Park). The fight apparently happened in the evening and, when Diego couldn't reach me, he opted to put the dogs in their crates for the night and brought them to my regular vet in the morning. My vet later relayed to me that she was horrified at their condition, enough to take photos as evidence. One of my dogs had 40+ puncture wounds on his front legs, some of which were torn open. My other dog had the skin pulled away from his face which had torn the muscle. Both dogs were still actively bleeding and had spent the night in extreme pain. While I realize that the whole unexpected incident must have been very shocking for Diego (and frankly, pretty embarrassing), his judgement in not taking them to the emergency vet was exceptionally bad. My vet, who I have known for years and who knows my dogs well, was very concerned about his demeanor and overall lack of concern about their injuries (which I learned later upon my return home). I was still away two days later when both dogs were scheduled for a recheck at the vet. I received a call from Diego an hour after the appointment time where he glossed over the fact that he was late to the appointment and started basically accusing my vet of being racist. I received a call after that from my vet who said that, despite the appointment having been confirmed, Diego showed up with both dogs an hour late for their recheck demanding to be seen anyway and refusing to leave. Ultimately, the staff at the office had to threaten to call the police to get him to leave. I was, fortunately, home the next day and was able to take them for a recheck appointment myself. After seeing the extent of the injuries to my dogs, even a few days healed, I was pretty horrified that they had not received immediate veterinary care. Diego did the right thing in this situation in that he did not charge me for the pet sitting fee and also paid the initial vet bill. When I tried to follow up with him to cancel future appointments and to seek reimbursement for the remainder of my vet bills (from the follow up) and for an item that he broke in my home (and threw in the alley trash can, apparently hoping that we would not notice), he actively avoided my messages/calls. Ultimately, he texted my boyfriend to let us know that he was not financially responsible, per his contract, which I do not have a copy of an cannot confirm. As the remaining amount is less than $100, I'm not inclined to fight about it, but I am inclined to let people know what has happened so that they can protect their own pets. This incident has brought to light other negative reports from those who know/work with Diego that were given to me in confidence and I cannot share, but I encourage you to proceed with caution should you use his services. Diego has been a friend to the Chicago rescue community and is trusted by many, which makes this an especially complicated situation. read more

IPet Chicago is the best dog care service I have ever used and I have been through a bunch! With two dogs, and some not so stellar experiences in the past I was hesitant when trusting a new walker/sitter. Diego was referred to me from a rescue I was doing fostering through and came highly recommended. Diego donates his time and experience to several rescues in the area which for me says a lot. He has always been very flexible in adding last minute appointments and I am always confident my pups are getting the best care there is when leaving them for the weekend. Diego was great! He cared for our two cats when we were on vacation. We only needed him to come by every couple days to check in on them. They are antisocial and boarding them would have not only stressed them out, it would be expensive. We've been a customer of iPet Chicago (and Diego) for the past 5 years, and we couldn't be happier. With 3 furbabies (2 kittens and 1 senior cat in 2012) in our family, we hated the idea of boarding them while we were out of town (as did our furbabies who stopped cleaning themselves the last time they were boarded), but we also were hesitant about having a stranger in our home. Diego easily put our fears to rest by coming over to meet us and our furbabies. His frequent updates during each visit kept us at ease (and feeling homesick) and confident our furbabies were in good hands while we were out of town. iPet Chicago is great with last minute scheduling, as well as special needs furbabies. I used iPet Chicago after having met Diego at various rescue events. Normally, when my husband and I are away, my sister takes care of our cats and vice-versa. But this year we were both scheduled to be out of town at the same time. Diego came recommended so I decided to give him a try when we were all away on vacation. We have been using iPet Chicago for about 6 mos now, as a dog walking service two days a week. The only one who is happier than my husband and I with their service is our dog, Kona! She absolutely adores Diego and his visits and gets all excited and runs to the front door if I ask her 'Is Diego coming today?!?' Diego's love of animals really shows thru in the time that he spends and the care that he gives to each and every client. I'm delighted with Diego and his wonderful team. My 3 dogs love them. Our youngest rescue is a bit of a behavior challenge on occasion, and the fact that the team is aware of the issues and works on behavior on every walk is enormously reassuring to me. I've worked with iPet for more than 2 years now, I've gladly recommended them to several friends and neighbors, and my own experience and that of my friends only affirms that these are people whom I can trust with my access to my home and my four-legged family members. I have worked with several other providers over 20 years in Chicago, and they were all good. iPet is the best. While I respect the difficulty of the situation described by another reviewer, it is clearly an extraordinary one.
