I brought in two iPhones for battery replacement. I met the owner at his garage door, where he quoted $50 per phone. When I finally came back for them, the owner charged me a total of $120, saying the extra was the tax. Without doing the math, I paid with my credit card. He offered no receipt. When I asked what his warranty period is, he said 90 days, again not giving me any written receipt. Like a dummy, I nodded in acceptance of his word. My Samsung Galaxy S21 had a loose charge cable connection and I brought it in asking for a charge port replacement. I made an appointment online and brought it in an hour later. The owner was very friendly, greeted me promptly upon my arrival, and told me it was possible the charge port just needed a thorough cleaning and to give him 15-20 minutes to check. Sure enough, he came out 15 minutes later saying it just needed cleaning, and charged me $20 instead of the $100 I expected to pay for a full port replacement. He also brought out a cable so I could feel the difference in the connection after cleaning, and sure enough it was tight and secure. I contacted iPlayPower after my iPhone dropped and the glass broke. Lowell was responsive and scheduled an appointment for the same morning, which was very convenient. The location of the business is in a home and due to COVID Lowell meets you in his garage, which is a little awkward but understandable given the circumstances. Lowell repaired my screen quickly, but it had trouble. The screen wasn't as responsive as the original Apple product, it didn't work properly with polarized sunglass lenses, and the haptics stopped working with the new screen. I contacted Lowell and told him that the screen was faulty and would like a refund. He said if I brought the phone back, he'd remove the screen, replace it with the old one, and give me a refund. I emailed him and asked him how that would work, since the original was broken, and then he instead said that if I bring in the phone he'd place another after-market screen. I told him that I do not want another after-market screen because I was very disappointed with the quality. I'd found out that an original replacement from the Apple Store was only $50 more than the after-market and I wanted to go that route instead of taking my chances on another poor quality, non-Apple manufactured screen. Lowell said that he'd gotten another complaint from the same shipment of screens and that'd I'd have to let him try a different screen or he would not give me a refund. He said that was in the Terms of Service that I agreed to when he worked on the phone and he said I needed to learn a lesson about honoring agreements. I instead went to Apple and got a replacement that worked perfectly. I asked Lowell to refund the faulty screen that he'd put on my phone and he refused. I would highly recommend that anyone considering a screen replacement compare the prices for an original, as the screens are much more responsive and durable and the cost is only slightly higher. Lowell should have issued a refund for the defective screen he placed on my phone. UPDATE: The business owner, Lowell, has stated that I did not receive a refund because I did not return the faulty screen to him. This is inaccurate. In his emails to me, he said that he would not allow me to receive a refund unless I allowed him to remove the defective screen and try again with another after-market screen. I was more than willing to return the phone to him with the original faulty screen for a refund. I also offered to return the faulty screen to him after I had a new one installed at Apple. He claims that I was impatient, but that is not true. He refused the refund. In his first email he initially offered a refund, then in his second he said he wanted to try a different after-market screen. I didn't want a different after-market screen after my experience with the first. We exchanged a total of 8 emails over a week about the issue. I eventually took the phone to Apple. read more

Wow! I would give six stars if I could! I have had a broken screen for a few days but been super busy. I was sitting at a coffee shop on beacon hill and decided to search repairs nearby and found out this was just a five minute walk away. I clicked on the website to make an appointment, and decided to just try for "right now" and walk there, guessing already he probably wouldn't be able to get me in right then but wanted to give it a try. First of all, I really appreciated the fact that Lowell is honest and he actually really cared about my phone. The unfortunate story on my phone: On the same day that I took the lifecase (which did not work per its guarantee) off of my phone, the phone smashed on concrete and the glass went in all directions and broke all over the screen. I taped it, but then I had another accident the same day in which some kind of facial oil I had in my purse exploded and went all over everything, but it did not get on my phone. However, he pointed out in replacing the screen that the oil had gone into the home screen button parts and affected them. He originally did not get the home screen button quite right with the glass, so spent a lot of time...about 40 minutes getting it right..Then came out and told me the home screen button would not last a long time and that eventually I would want ta new phone. He then told me for $40.00, he could do the work and order a home screen button. Then, he still spent time trying to improve the home screen button as much as he could despite the damage. I never got "Apple care" due to being poor and unemployed, but I also got turned off from later bad experiences being overcharged from Apple. I love the fact that Lowell operates this out of his home, but has the professionalism and polish of what great customer service needs to look like. Thank you, Lowell, and I really recommend him to anyone. Really, in the case on my I Phone, I would have the straight scoop and story that he gave me as opposed to bull. Thanks again, Lowell. I brought my iPhone 6 Plus to Lowell for a battery replacement - I had already replaced the phone device - this was a last ditch effort to recover some data. Once i left it with him, I expected to pay to the replacement fee regardless of the results. When I returned for the phone he let me know it was a no-go -- basically not fixable -- and he did not charge me for the service. While I am quite heartbroken that my data is lost forever - I was surprised and grateful not to be charged.
