This was definitely easier than what I thought. It is just having confidence and getting used to the feeling of the scooter. Light weight, popping color, electric, no noise, easy to drive, easy to lease one, and on top, you have a GPS phone with speakers that will keep you telling about interesting points when you check in. Follow the rout of the colour your package is. Otherwise you will be lost in the city and will have to go around all the pin points :S And after some hours you will be very tired. So stick to the plan :) Sun is super strong on your arms and neck so be sure to wear sunblock! Usually traffic is very patient with scooters but coming back was something because big streets are used by people on a hurry hahaha. I mean one car was honking at us as if the cycle was going to be faster. Just kept our cool and let him go through. We were on vacation mood after all ;) My only concern was that I forgot to take pics of us in the scooter!! So take them before ;) haha and taking pics during the ride wasn't an option for me because you have to follow rules as if you were driving a car (just not go on freeways). So stopping for photos was just stressing. We decided to keep going as the clock was ticking and we had to get back the scooters. read more

Great experience! We went in as a party of 4 without a reservation and we were assisted without issue. They gave us a free upgrade because the car we wanted was not available. This was a nice perk. I had regretted not bringing sun block but luckily they sell that too. The process to register is simple and they show you how to use the cars. Prices are reasonable. Very chill environment. This is a fun way to spend an hour or two. We got a lot on attention from people out in the city waving and smiling as we road around. These cars are little and my husband at 6'2" was on the edge of being comfortable. These little cars drive like motorcycles or mopeds but with a lot less power. Getting to 30 mph was a stretch for them. I never felt unsafe and we had a good time. Why three stars and not five like most people? Well the cars are old or very abused. The brakes were soft and suspension nonexistent. This location either needs new cars or an overhaul of existing ones. Also we arrived 15 minutes before our time as we were directed but the attendant said two other groups were coming so we had to wait for them before watching the safety video and getting going. The third group arrived 45 minutes after we did so we sat there doing nothing when we could have be out on our road trip already. I understand it's easier to give directions once but that was a huge waste of our time. Would I do it again? Maybe. Was it worth doing once? Yes definitely. read more

This was such a fun experience! It took the scooters to a whole new level! My family and friends did this as a bachelorette activity and it was lots of fun especially, since we were able to connect our music to the bikes! The gentlemen who helped us (I think he was the owner.) was very nice! He gave my group an extra 30min to our 1hr tour because of an event that was happening in Little Italy and it worked out great! We received so much attention from everyone taking videos and pics of my group. Some people were even dancing with us on our stops at the stop lights! This is the BEST way to see the city. I rented this bad beast for 2 hours, and went to Seaport Village, Petco Park, the Gaslamp Quarter, and Balboa Park. I returned the bike with time to spare. Todd, the owner, is BEYOND friendly and helpful. He told me where to go, how to get around, and showed me how to use the bike before I used it. AMAZING! I've been thinking about purchasing a phat scooter and found this place that rents them and wanted to take it for a test ride. The online reservation system was super quick and easy. When I got there the staff was extremely friendly and went over all the features of the scooter as well as informing me of all the local laws. I had no idea these scooters were consider bicycles in the eyes of the law, very cool! Now the "blow my mind" customer service part of the experience. The owner of the company personally took the time to accommodate me by figuring out a way that I could bring my dog on the ride AND he didn't even make him sign the waiver lol We took the scooter through little Italy, downtown San Diego, and then on the ferry over to Coronado. By the time I got back to the shop I was surprised that there was still a significant amount of charge left on the scooter. This definitely made my decision easy to purchase one of these for myself! I had great fun on my rented ebike for the 2 hours that it was actually charged and working! This place is kind of an over priced tourist trap in the heart of Old Town. I was rented an ebike that was only half charged - the charge dropped to zero after about 2 hours into my 24 hour rental. Kassandra kindly came and dropped me off a charger cable.... but I am in the middle of no where, fighting fading light and no where for miles to charge it. I was left stranded on The Strand, 10 miles to final destination, in the dark, with no lights on the bike and no charge. A LONG 10 miles pedaling home with no power. Basically a rip off for $ 132 and I was NOT offered a discounted rate. Shop around and do your research on line before. Make sure the bike you are given is CHARGED before you start! read more

Worst customer service ever! I paid for 4 hour tour in an upgraded car and best insurance they had. We go out on tour and it was enjoyable. We were in our last hour and 15 min and were in little Italy when the horn went bizerk! It wouldn't stop so I called to see what they could do. We were outside the farmers market and this very loud noise was bothering everyone. People stopped to help to no avail. Almost an hour of this ear piercing solid loud noise, they send a guy in another car to see what he can do. He tells me this is our replacement car. Not the same car we had. He steps all over the seat with his feet. Nice guy but his feet were really disgustingly dirty. He then puts 3 helmets on the ground and said you have to wear these to drive this car. It was obvious they were not clean. I said this isn't gonna work, he said no problem. I expressed to him how upset I was and how this has really ruined our day as I now have a migraine and my ears are ringing. He said no problem I said I hope you give us a free trip another day, he said I agree, that's what they will problem do this is aweful and I have to drive this car back with all that noise! Well he's talking to the manager and they are trying everything to turn off this loud noise. People from the farmers market across the street and they come over and complain and are quite upset as this is almost an hour of this noise. He gets in the car to drive it off and it won't turn on. He gets another guy to help him him push it to the end of the block. He comes back and tells me they will send an Uber to get us and take us back. One lady comes to talk to him saying she lives in the apartment above where he parked the car and he assured her it would be taken care of. He jumps into the replacement car and off he goes. The car, now down the street blaring this same loud noise is still going. Well Uber shows up maybe 20 min later and return us to Gocar office. I asked how are we gonna work this out? He said let me see! He says I'll give you a free hour. I said that's not acceptable, I lost our last hour and 15 min and spent the last hour listening to to that loud noise now I have a migraine and I'm not pleased. He goes on the computer and is tapping around and I say I think you should give us another day with the same car, when it gets fixed. He said if you go to a restaurant and eat 3/4 of meal do you get your money back if you don't like it? I said I would have sent it back after the first bite so not a good comparison in any way. He then says oh you paid with Groupon you have to ask them for your $ back. I said seriously? I did use a Groupon, but I upgraded cars so I wouldn't have to wear a helmet. He said upgrades and insurance are non refundable. So call Groupon there is nothing I can do for you. He smirks at me and I ask for his boss said don't have one. I said I know you don't own this business he said we have an owner. I asked for his number he said nope I don't give that out. I was shocked at how horrible this guy was treating me so I left. I called the San Francisco branch and they said they couldn't help and call San Diego. He answers the phone in San Diego so I can't do that. And they transferred me to San Diego. I just hung up! We used them in San Francisco years ago when they first open up, loved it! This was one of the worst experiences in customer service I have every seen! Bad experience keeping us 1 hour and telling us that they don't rent anything that was not nice

My boyfriend and I had been looking for something fun and different to do. Even as locals in the area it's always great to get out and explore. We didn't want to do the Segway tour as it just didn't seem fun. After reading other reviews about Iride we figured we should give it a try. To say the least it was soooo.... much fun. A totally cool way to explore the city. At first I was a bit nervous but after a great tutorial on how to operate the unit I felt much better. Units are super easy to ride and I felt like a movie star with all the people looking at us as we rode past them. Would highly recommend. read more

Just rented 2 Phat Scooters. Rode through downtown and balboa park had such a great time. Booking the scooter was very easy simple check out. They ask you to arrive 20 minutes prior to your reservation which was great got to ask questions and learn about the scooters. This was the best scooter ride ever! It was so fun. We were just visiting in town and called iRide- They met us at the shop and got us out the door pretty quickly. The scooters are easy to ride. Three speeds; total easy balance. It was like a giant motorized skateboard with a seat! We went all over Balboa Park and little Italy. We had such a good time.
