I came here tonight with 6 girls for a birthday dinner & I have to share my experience!…read more First off, on the way to the restaurant we called to add a seat & they were so kind about adding!! It was such a nice vibe inside. Hate when nice restaurants have TVs tho. (They have a 15 minute grace period btw) Our waiter, Jordaee, was awesome! He was so attentive to what we needed and took our orders quickly. He did a great job explaining the menu. Now the food -- so so good!!!! The spicy edamame has this sauce that's so good!! The blue fin roll was so so good & the king ora! GET THE GARLIC NOODLES & YAKI UDON! Get it! Don't skip! (Get the tenderloin in the yaki We were all having a great time. Here's my only qualm: We were there for a birthday and we paid for the dessert..... I totally thought it would be comped or something. We would have skipped the cake if we knew tbh. That was our only skip of the meal. Also, the manager or owner (idk) his name is Mo! He was so kind! Came to us when he saw we were done eating because he thought we didn't like the food. We were just waiting for boxes, don't worry Mo! We loved the food! Come here, but beware you'll spend money. But it's good!

Honestly the ambiance is amazing here, very pretty, drinks were good, and our server was amazing…read more But for our food I was very disappointed. The pasta did not taste like anything, and personally the salmon was very gummy. The manager was okay with giving 2 people at the table a refund but not the others...so it resulted in all of us only getting 50% off. I appreciated it, but to give the accommodation to two people but not for two others who all ordered the same food is ridiculous! Wouldn't come here outside for the bar, the manager was pretty rude, and just walked away and dismissed us. Not sure if it was a racial thing with a table of 6 black women or what, but I've never experienced something like this before. Won't be back!

I found Chubby Panda on Instagram. After looking at various posts and reading more about the…read morebusiness and its owner, I decided to try it. The "Detroit street food" carryout counter is located inside of a gas station on Clark & Vernor in Southwest Detroit. There is signage outside, on the Clark Street side of the building. Inside the gas station, there is a sign for another food business. I thought that I was at the wrong location, but went outside and called the phone number listed on Instagram. The gentleman that answered the number, which turned out to be the gas station phone number, assured me that I was at the right place. I went back in, snapped few pics, and ordered. I wanted to try something exciting, but I wasn't sure what to get. I settled on a shrimp tempura taco and crunchy crab legs. My order totaled just shy of $30. The fried crab legs reminded me of mozzarella sticks. I only took a few bites. The snack seemed to be imitation krab. It came with seasoned fries and three different dipping sauces. It's a really kool snack item, but I don't think I'd order it again. The taco was more to my liking. It's essentially a deconstructed sushi roll. The tempura shrimp, sauces and cucumber sit on a bed of sushi rice on top of a fried wonton wrapper. It looked super cool and was very tasty. The dish was topped with crunchies. The menu is small and kitschy with fusion-style snacks. My carryout bag was packed with care and included a few Andes chocolate mints. I'll support the owner again trying other items and will share it with others.

They come with 4 of them and are such an amazing texture. You'd think it would be that of a donut but it's has almost a mochi bouncy texture and it is savory! An amazing appetizer! Garden Quinoa: An incredibly fresh and lite start to the meal, easy to share. Kafta Skewers: A bit of a dryer but flavorful 2 meat skewer, but comes with a cucumber salad and pita. This app is less shareable than the others but the skewers are decent size but would recommend getting two orders if your group is larger than 4 people. Entrees Roasted Chicken with the Jollof Rice: The chicken was tender fall off the bone but paired great with the Jollof rice, peppers, onions and vegetables. Just a nice hearty dish. Groundnut Stew: This was a stand out to me, the mix of seasoned beef with the peanut sauce was unique and delicious! It's has subtle spice, like barely mild. An excellent hearty dish. Roasted Goat Shank: My friend got it right when she said there was some serious tenderness happening. Fall off the bone meat that has a subtle gamey flavor but is super tasty. Kidney Beans: My friend loves this dish and my other friend who tried it said they would order again!! Dessert: Pistachio Delight: My friends were obsessed with this 10/10 would order again! A note, both mocktails, Palm Cooler and Berry Colada, were tried at our table and were delicious. Overall it was a GREAT meal!! | 10/10 will be dining here again! The waitress was kind and attentive. They have beautiful artwork around the room and we received our food at a great pace. Shout out to Little Liberia, excited that you chose the east side to open!! You deserve all the hype!

The mocktails that we ordered were also really good. All of our main dishes came with rice, fried plantains, and vegetables. We had the cassava leaves, ground nut stew, and the goat shank. They all had very different flavors but they were all so good. Our server was very nice and helpful and our food arrived very quickly. The restaurant is in a new building and the interior is very nicely decorated with interesting art.

Detroit pop shop does popsicles right!…read more That would be my hope since that's what they're all about but now after finally trying one, I can attest to it. Their popsicles bring regular store bought popsicles to shame. I don't think I can ever go back now. We had an employee celebration at work this past week since Henry Ford Health System was celebrating their centennial and Detroit pop shop was there handing out free popsicles. Yeah! Normally they're $3. They had a sugar free one available but I opted for the one with sugar. I believe it was blueberry raspberry and it was delicious! It was super flavorful, not overly sweet, and perfect for a hot summer night out. They are smaller than your average popsicle which is a bummer. However, you can tell they're quality. I will definitely keep an eye out for them next time I'm at Eastern Market or I might have to stop by Parker Street Market (great little market that sells only Michigan made food/drinks!) in the West Village to try some of their other flavors.
