Been a while since I had Slows and I saw this nearby. Wanted to pick something up on the way home. The place had its own parking which is a definite bonus in Detroit, and the inside is nice and clean. You can order at the register or from the kiosks. Good came quick and staff was friendly. You can choose which bbq sauce to go with your meal. I went with the combo of brisket, pulled pork, and chicken with 2 sides. Went with the salad and Mac & cheese and got another coleslaw ala carte. Ordered wings, rib tips and a cesar salad. Wings and ribs were good, but I do not recommend ordering the Cesar salad. The dressing is not good at all. We stopped by to check out how food here compares to their main location. Honestly I couldn't tell a difference. The menu is slightly smaller, I do think the name is deceiving. As there are spots to eat inside. I thought it was literally an extension of Slows where you could only get food to go. My bad! But we enjoyed it, the staff was great, very friendly and helpful. Good came out quickly, really nothing to complain about. Obviously the interior is not like the original, it's more modern and maybe a 1/4th of the size. But if you're in the mood for some Slows BBQ and don't want to wait too long to get a seat, give a try. read more

While the staff is very friendly, the online ordering service is so slow. I went there yesterday to pick up my order and waited 20 minutes longer than my promised time. I arrived on time (7:01p) and didn't receive food until 7:26p -- almost an hour after the order time and over 20 minutes later than the estimate. Went in on a Friday night to order togo, there was no wait to order. Parking available on site, so you don't have to pay to park. Ordered the yardbird, the reason, 16oz coleslaw, 32oz mac and cheese and two pieces of carrot cake, they offer one side of bbq sauce per sandwich. 75$/ including tip. When I got it all home it was good. Only complaint is that they don't offer choice of toast or roll for the sandwiches. By the time I got home my yardbird bun was completely soggy. I still enjoyed it but it could have been better. Inside the site was clean and staff was friendly, food came out very quickly. All in all when I need a Slows BBQ fix this is a good (not great) alternative to the sit down restaurant. Side note to Slows, you all used to offer choice of bread for sandwiches at sit down slows but do not any more. Please bring that back!!!!!! My husband and I were looking forward to celebrating our third anniversary by ordering some barbecue from this special place. We called and put our order in and had some minor difficulties. Thankfully the manager at Slows to go addressed those issues in the timely fashion and resolved the matter. Now to the food! The brisket was absolutely delicious as remembered and the apple smoked chicken is on point the side mac & cheese was scrumptious with a layer of cheese baked and smoked on top. Absolutely worth every penny for their hard work smoking these meats and making these homemade dishes and sauces. The mac and cheese is absolutely ridiculously good - the best in the metro area. Though they're obviously known for meat, they do have a vegan option - some sort of smoky soy-based product I believe. Quite tasty! I used to love coming here, but I guess now you can only order in half pound increments for meat and the smallest side you can get is 16 oz... So unless you're buying food for a big crowd you're kind of out of luck. I remember a few years ago, getting a two meat plate with sides and that was awesome - definitely a better option for a to-go restaurant. This time I just got stuck with way more pork and cole slaw than I would have liked and didn't get to have any brisket or beans :( They gave me kind of a hard time for asking for a few different bbq sauces too. I ordered online and requested it be ready at 6. It was ready 12 minutes early. Considering we had a 42 minute drive there and then again back home, I didn't want it to be done early. The food was a bit hit AND miss. My daughter's pulled pork sandwich was great (without sauce and no toppings). My other daughter LOVED the Yardbird! She went on and on about how fabulous it was, but said she didn't like the bacon because it wasn't crisp and lacked a little flavor, so she pulled it off. The mac and cheese was scrumptious-- very, very cheesy with a layer on top that looked like it'd been perfectly browned under a broiler. It was divine! The brisket was a bit dry, but the charring was fantastic and the flavor good. It was too fatty though, and not in a good way. We often order wet brisket elsewhere and it's not like this. Likewise, the pulled pork was extra fatty, and I should have ordered it dry because it was sitting in oil and I didn't care for the flavor of whatever sauce was on it. I was sad that corn bread wasn't on the menu and hope it returns. We usually go to Slows on MI Ave, but will return here again if we want carry out. So, it wasn't a great experience, but overall the food was pretty good. And I must add that after I reached out to Slows, THEY CARED and it prompted me to raise my score from a 3 to a 4. read more

Shrinkflation seems to have hit here too. For years Slows has been a solid local spot. Have ordered here for game days, holiday catering, walk in off the street. Today I ordered items I've had many times before and the quality was off across the board. The wings were 30% smaller than in times past. The Mac and cheese was cooked HARD, top crunchy and over done. I had two containers of it, so wasn't a one off issue, both containers the same. Brisket was 50% fat. Bummer Slows. Everyone has an off day so I'll be back hoping that's what happened, but this was disappointing. Service was solid though! Update after eating: All of the food was mid. It is a little return to normalcy to be able to stop there and pick up a well-made and substantial meal, even if I have to eat it at home and not in their fun restaurant. I am partial to the Yardbird chicken sandwich without the bacon, but I am told the ribs and brisket are both quite good.
