Hey this kash i love all the food my favorite is the BBQ ribs n pig feet n greenss... thank yall for being 1 of the greatest..

I grew up on BBQ cooked over charcoal, which is quite different than the smoked ribs i usually encounter. Yes, cooking over charcoal does sometimes create that bark on one side of the meat but i love it. This place has had me in a chokehold for the past month, with me driving 30 mins each way to eat. I love it. I am a large end kind of guy and this place is the best i've had with only Vicky's coming in second. Once, the ribs were fatty but i doin't care. Every other time, they were delicious. Regarding the sides... This is where most BBQ joints struggle. The Coleslaw and potato salad are either off a Sysco truck or similar to Kroger prepared food. The green beans kind of remind me of the green beans you'd get if the church had a bbq dinner sale... not bad. The baked beans... not the best. When i order, i usually have some macaroni made at home and i always have a bag of cooked greens in the freezer. I live solo so i will make food, freeze it and have it along side their meat. I did not like the greens there but the potato salad and slaw, for what it is; unless you're going to be making it... boiling and peeling potatoes...dicing celery and belle pepper, this works :) I love this place AND the girls working are always EXTREMEMLY friendly. We came on a Monday (They probably had a busy weekend) and they had no macaroni or yams (not accepting a black neighborhood) but the food was good. The blackened peas need a little bit more seasoning. The greens was good and the rib tips were good and nice portions. The shrimp needs to be seasoning like old bay and garlic powder. Our order took 35 minutes but it was fresh. I wanted pig feet and they were out. They wereout of okra and again it was on a Monday. I would give them a 7 out of 10 because the food needs a little more flavor but the location and staff make you feel appreciated. read more

The service is terrible and they are so inconsistent. The first time we went here the food was great so we wanted to order again, but it says they're open some places and closed some places and then we tried to order door dash and it just said we couldn't for seemingly no reason. We waited a few weeks and tried again and then their menu on DoorDash didn't have yams or Mac and cheese so we called to see if they still had it. The lady that answered was extremely rude and told us they don't have Mac and cheese or yams on DoorDash but still serve them???? What sense does that even make. After that I said "okay, thank you!" even though she was rude, and she just hung up. read more

I was skeptical after having read negative reviews about Nunn's mac n cheese and the customer service. I drove from downtown Mt. Clemens in hopes of finding "decent" BBQ. The drive was not in vain. The mac n cheese was bomb! (I'm from a cooking family in AL) The jumbo shrimp were actually still jumbo after being fried. The ribs were better than the competition, but the customer service that "I" received was . The mature gentleman upfront was friendly and very pleasant. I love them they remind me of Young's bbq unlike that other one on the Eastside that's just gone so down hill .

I do a little research and decide hey, this is the place I wanna try today. Will I be back? Hmmmm... The reviews are great so I was excited to try! Great signage and easy to find! Small in and out spot. A few chairs and tall tables for waiting at best. Customer service was good! The woman who took my order was so sweet. I decided to get 2 lunch specials- it was cheaper to go before 3pm- specials are $9 and come with 2 sides. Now, I was highly put off with my bread being in the same ziplock bag as my napkin and fork. That WAS A BIT MUCH FOR ME Rib lunch comes with 3 bones. Good sauce but they're the big bulky ribs. I had 2 good bones and the crunchy end piece. The baked beans taste like canned Bush beans. The Mac n cheese taste like Stouffers with pepper. The greens I didn't touch- they were turnips. The black eyed peas may have been canned too? Idk they were nasty. The pork chop was okay- not the freshest but a typical restaurant tasting chop. If I go again, I'll try the shrimp and BBQ chicken cause everything else was NOT IT for me. read more

Only ordered rib tips but they were very satisfying the sauce is ok but all the sides are delicious prices are reasonable try them out

New Menu prices that are not posted and Bad Service as the paid order wasn't ready when promised. Ordered food at 12 noon, and the Mac and cheese wasn't ready. They said it would be ready at 1pm. Went to pickup at 1 pm, and it still wasn't ready. Went by at 2 pm, and the place was full of complaining people unhappy with the extreme wait. Meanwhile, I called back at 1pm. when I was promised the dinner would be ready and asked for a side of potatoe salad, but they kept me on hold for over 6 minutes and never came back to the phone. They did give up the potato salad, but look at the size of the rib tips... unacceptable for the prices that were charged. The Mac and cheese was minus any cheese and wasn't flavorful at all! This is the worse oven cooked ribs in the city. They lie when they say it was cooked on the grill. The quality of the food is sub par and the manager is horrible and know nothing of customer loyalty! I was a regular customer until I complained about my last order which was terrible. read more

My very first visit drove down far west side of Detroit to Eastside because of the Facebook advertisement. Ribs look Delicious on Fb. For us the ribs and rib tips were drenched with barbecue sauce. It was just entirely tooo much sauce. If I ever return I will make sure Sauce on the side. They give u a nice portion of sides mine were coleslaw. Wow. And fries I think if the sauce didn't drown the ribs it would be a little better. Would I go back? Well not to drive so far. If I was near there yes. The woman working at the cash register was friendly. Everyone coming inside to pick up orders was happy to get some great BBQ. It took a bit to decide what we wanted but once we did we ordered. The food took a little while to arrive, 15 or 20 minutes but when it came, it was worth it!! Super delicious. The main thing I noticed was that most people called their orders in ahead of time. Good food but poor customer service. I came on at 11:55 when the sign said 12 noon was when they opened. However the door was wide open with the open sign on. I approach the counter and seen employees in the back,after watching them watch me for a few minutes the 1 employee tells me they open in 5 minutes. Seems like I've waited 5 minutes for you to say that but ok. I sit and wait but only because of the hankering I had for bbq. She approaches the counter with a rude like attitude but I'm thinking it might be me. I order and stepped aside because by then another customer came in. After she ordered she walks out and says to herself (but I still heard it if that makes sense) " damn she was rude. Oh so it's not me. I called my order in. The person who took my order wasn't pleasant at all. There were no turkey chops or whole wings available. (Its a huge pet peeve of mine when a restaurant doesn't have menu items available) I was not impressed by the meal that I settled with. The fries tasted like they were cooked in old grease, Macaroni and cheese wasn't made with real cheese or any kind of seasoning, and deformed wing dings that were barely done. People in the neighborhood love the ribs from what I hear. So just get the ribs if that's what you're into. I like supporting local businesses and this one has been around a while. Sooooooooo, me and my aunt decided to go to Nunn's Barbeque II on Conant only because Boston Market was closed. When I say I would've rather eaten dirt than to eat this B.S. , I would've. On top of everything else , the poor , and rude customer service was deplorable. We try to patronize black businesses but this here is what pissed me off. Can you tell me why they have one of the rudest girls greeting customers??? How is she answering the phone saying that the customers are getting on her nerves!!! How Sway?? Where do they do that at??? Then the older lady from the back came to wait on the customers and she was just as rude! Are you serious. At this point, I'm just looking at both of them with my mouth open!!! But why??? Oh and they had hardly any sides to go with the terrible boiled bbq ribs that were cold and nasty. If this is the best they have, they need to be closed down. Yes I said it. Bad customer service & bad food. Shut it down . Idc how long you've been open , now may be the time to shut the doors, because illl never spend another half a cent with them! $20 totally wasted!! I'm so pissed right now, because I'm still hungry. What do you do when you don't feel like firing up the grill and really want a slab of ribs: find a local joint that will do the work for you, yet let's you look like the hero! I called in an order to Nunn's and the person who answered was very friendly and explained what they had to order since I was a newbie. She took my order and said it would be ready in 10 minutes. YES 10 minutes for food to feed a small army! They slow cooked all morning since it was holiday time. Nunn's is a small spot that you would never think of since it's right on Conant. However anybody that lives on the eastside knows about Nunn's. The order was ready and roughly $24 for a slab dinner with 2 sides. The meat fell off the bone when we dug it. A really good sign for BBQ. The mac & cheese was really creamy and the greens were seasoned just right. I'm not a fan of anything besides collards, but they were good none the less. No complaints on the food. I would suggest trying the Kinta cake. I was puzzled when she mentioned it too. It's a has multicolor pound cake (red, purple, yellow) that has a sweet taste. Really moist and unique. That was definitely a "I'm not sharing" slice of cake. read more

First outing here, and overall? Pretty darned good, with an emphasis on getting the most important things right: the BBQ I had was very good...it just would have been nice had it been hotter, temperature-wise. Other than that? That was some *good* meat. I decided tonight would be the night that I'd branch out and try Nunn's BBQ for the first time, since my former go-to place for BBQ pork rib tips, Ron's Roadside BBQ in Ann Arbor, is no longer in business, according to Ron. This makes me sad, but it did force me to get out of my comfort zone and try someone else's. Nunn's are quite good, too: pretty tender, with a nice, tangy sauce, and very nice flavor. Again, I wish the tips would have been hotter, but the microwave sufficed in that way, too...at a slight sacrifice of the tenderness, but not enough to be unhappy about. Service was functional. They were busy at work in there, and they got me in and out in pretty quick fashion. I wouldn't call it congenial, but it wasn't anywhere near rude or anything of the kind. More "busy", and since the food came relatively quickly, a lack of smiling and such can be overlooked. One thing is for sure: you are *not* going to be eating your food there...you're taking your food to go. Bye-bye, friend. As for the sides, I inquired as to whether their potato salad and coleslaw were made in house. I was told that the coleslaw was, but that the potato salad wasn't. I ordered one of each as my two sides with the dinner. One was good, the other was wretched. Guess which is which. Believe it or not, the store-bought potato salad was just fine, and eaten in its entirety. It's certainly nothing that you haven't eaten before at a larger picnic-type gathering, but it's fine: sweeter than you might expect, but a very appropriate accompaniment to the BBQ rib tips. No complaints there. That coleslaw, though? IT. WAS. AWFUL. Here's a word I honestly don't use very often: "unredemptive". I'll use it in a sentence: "The made-in-house coleslaw that I had today from Nunn's BBQ in Detroit was completely unredemptive." It was everything you don't want in coleslaw: a disgusting, gloppy, sticky mess that had awful flavor and got tossed wholesale into the garbage can, never to be seen or heard from again, hopefully. I'm not even being hyperbolic, either...it's just stinking horrible, and should be avoided at all costs. Don't say you weren't warned. A couple of slices of wheat bread were also included in a separate baggie and weren't eaten by me...it's just not my thing, but it is a BBQ tradition. So, aside from that beyond-the-pale coleslaw, you've got a pretty good experience all around. Perhaps a bit on the expensive side, but not expensive enough to wince at or anything. Coleslaw can be avoided easily in future orders, and the BBQ is trustworthy for me. Happy I tried it, and it's very possible I'll be back, but I'm also going to be trying other places looking for another place to be my go-to for rib tips...but Nunn's put a pretty good foot forward. Nothing to be ashamed of...except for that cursed coleslaw. That stuff can just be *gone*, and the world's a better place for it. I can see why they've been around for a while. read more

Wanted to take my friends who were in from Oslo, Norway to Detroit to get a taste of real soul food so I found this place on yelp and they did not disappoint! The ribs were off the bone delicious, the baked beans were like my mom used to make and the greens and candied yams were excellent too. Small take out in NE Detroit, small parking lot and street parking. Counter guy seemed indifferent but capable. Received food faster than the given 20 minute time. We ordered the slab with 2 large sides. The rib slab was pretty good for a restaurant. Most are boiled however this texture did seem grilled & smoked. The sauce is just Ok. My husband swears it's Open Pit because of the red color it had. I hate Open Pit so maybe they add some spices to it. I enjoyed the greens and ate most of them. I tasted the yams and Mac and cheese and they were pretty good as well. The family sides were adequate for the three of us. Counter guy gave muffins to another person but not us, dinner comes with sliced wheat bread.?!?!? I would go again if I wanted ribs. read more
