Did a walk in for a vertical labret by John, and unfortunately it was very crooked. I was on vacation, so I couldn't go back to get it fixed. I was severely disappointed and I had to get it re-pierced after I got back to my own city. Paid SO SO MUCH for the jewelry and time and tip, only to have to get it redone. I have had 2 sets of piercings done here, and YEARS later they haven't healed. I've never had this issue with my other piercings or injuries in general. It's gotten to the point where I've had to go on antibiotics because it's made me sick. All that to say, the people here, were so kind and were never an issue. Walked in- it was a bit busy when we came in but not rushed. Was looking to downsize a piercing and immediately the piercer John when he came over seemed irritated. Asked if I was downsizing and the went to look at the piercing- I was trying to tell him about some of the issues I was having And he immediately shut me down. When I later came back to get my bar downsized because I had gotten a text that it was time to downsize. it cost me 32.01!!! for what?! a smaller post?? come on now..... There isn't a better way to describe this place; it's like an art gallery, except the art pieces are jewelry pieces. So stunning. Alas, I arrived at Iris with a mission. After many years with the original earring I bought when I got my tragus pierced, I finally lost the end sometime late last night. I was hoping to find a simple white cubic zirconia stud to replace the one I lost, but I was presented with way too many good choices at Iris. I finally decided on a clear zirconia flower threadless top and got a new labret to go with it. The reason for this is that Iris doesn't sell internally threaded tops (which was the one I had). John helped me put in my new jewelry like the pro he is. If I ever decide to get a new piercing or a re-piercing, I know who to go to in Boulder. I'm conflicted. I've been to Iris about 5x to buy body jewelry (which is gorgeous and on the upper end, consequently more expensive but worth it). employees up front are phenomenal. (5th paragraph for the shit he said to me) last time I was there, however, caused me to leave upset and sobbing....I wanted to change my medusa jewelry and this guy piercer said he'd switch it. well, apparently my medusa was pierced incorrectly and he made it a personal thing, trying to scare me into a decision about my body. he refused to change my jewelry even though there was nothing wrong with where it was pierced (more vertical) & wasn't even touching my teeth (he insisted that it was and that i'd have damaged teeth), especially since I was sizing down to a 16g. I wasn't going to convince him to do something he wasn't comfortable with. but I was there for another 10 minutes (after trying to leave) because he wouldn't stfu about how fucked my piercing was, telling me I need to take it out immediately. I had no consequences for keeping this piece in for 2 weeks. he even admitted that, but kept insisting that i would be unhappy in the future. I mean, duh, but I have a wedding in two weeks and I'd rather have a cute piercing in than i literal hole in my face. Ya wanna know what he told me? "can I be honest?" he literally gave me 1 second before he said, "honestly that piercing looks like crap. I would never wear that piercing to a wedding. when you walked in I thought 'that looks like shit' from all the way across the room." at this point i'm clearly uncomfortable but this guy is fucking railroading me, as if I did something wrong? after he threw a fit about how fucked it was, i said something along the lines of "wow that piercer sucks then?" matching his energy, but nah, he starts rambling about how no piercer is perfect (duh.) but what got me was: "we make mistakes all of the time, we're not robots, I even f'd up a piercing last week!" my guy...again, duh. note taken but was their a legit reason for getting so weird and treating me like a child? also, am I supposed to feel comforted by you saying you f up all the time? get real. when he finally "let" me leave, I burst into tears. I'm the maid of honor at this wedding and he just killed my self esteem. So, I go to another piercer (Tribal Rites, BoCo), who not only changed my jewelry, but offered to redo my medusa after the wedding for free. they were so kind and I had the backing opinion that everything would be fine from their supervisor. also. my piercing looks fine. if I wear round jewelry, it looks the same as a regular medusa. something like a teardrop would be SLIGHTLY tilted. anyways, I've asked my friends and they said it looks fine (coming from people who were honest with my about when i dyed my hair black) I'm more confident in my appearance now to say that I, in fact, look like a stunning masc cinderella. anyways, this seems to be a problem with one individual and not the entire store. Terrible after-care support. They gave the worst advice for keeping my ear piercing clean. I called them to tell them my ear had gotten swollen, and they told me to hold a wet towel on it. He was happy to discuss questions I had about a possible new body piercing. I do want to note that he was extremely discreet (another employee came out while we were speaking and he crafted his words so that we were able to continue our discussion without anyone knowing what specific piercing we were talking about). I came in with a friend and since they were booked up, we made appointments for the next day, back to back. We came on time and waited for about 40 minutes before being talked to by the piercer (Harrison). Even though he started so late, and literally took other walk-ins before us, he informed me that he wouldn't have time to do the piercing that I wanted. When I reminded him that we were about an hour after our scheduled start time and we'd been there waiting, he tried blaming us and said we'd come late. He eventually recanted and admitted we'd been there on time but said he still wouldn't have time to do what I asked. So I settled for regular earlobe piercings. The jewelry he used is WAY too long and sticks out- with one side being significantly longer than that other- which looks ridiculous. He said I'd have to come back to get it trimmed down- which I'm sure they charge too much for- and I don't live in Boulder so I will have to go elsewhere. Harrison re-pierced my friends lobe that had closed, and totally went in at the wrong angle, had to pull it out and re-do it, causing her a lot of pain, then had the audacity to blame her for her earlobe having "too much scar tissue." This man doesn't seem to listen to his customers at all, doesn't take any accountability for messing up on piercing or on time, and has a very patronizing attitude toward customers. Aside from that- the jewelry is wildly overpriced. I was shocked at how overpriced some ear piercings on my lobes cost me- and wish I had just gone to Claire's for a less obnoxious experience, at a lower price. I would definitely not recommend this place unless you like being treated like your time doesn't matter and you have money to burn by people who don't listen to you or respect your intelligence. read more

Got a piercing from here recently super super expensive. Staff are confused and have no idea what's going on but that's Boulder for you. They lock the piercing on you and charge you a fortune to cut the piercing shorter later on. In fact they say they are keeping extra metal for the swelling but it's all a lie. They overexaggerate the piercings this way you have to go over and over again to get them cut shorter. I would recommend to anyone looking for a piercing to go somewhere else. The people were lovely and did a good job piercing. I paid over 600$ for some earrings, and all of them except for one fell out. I've had these piercings for 10 years and never had that issue before. I'm very careful when sleeping, removing or putting on clothing, and check several times to make sure the jewelry is secure. It was beautiful jewelry, but I feel like something is faulty with their luxury product if I'm having this issue. I have also heard several other customers complain about the same issue when in store. I'd love to have their beautiful jewelry, but cannot throw away that type of money on jewelry that falls out. It's very frustrating. Last time I called, when the first piercing fell out randomly, they said they could offer a refund if I found it. But having such small pieces, I haven't found a single one that fell out. All of the pieces fell out in my 600 ft apartment and even with strong magnets I haven't been able to find them.
