Very fun neighborhood bar , the bartender is very friendly!! So glad they opened early for our parade!!

Ok...if I could choose 2.5 stars for Irish Mike's I would, but 3 stars is cool too. It's a "benefit of the doubt", kinda thing. I visited early evening on Thursday and they had a few customers, but not many. People were friendly enough, but the beer-tender was a little unlikeable from my perspective. Very slow to arrive and seemed way too stand-office (and I should know....I am pretty damned stand-offish myself). I am old and ugly, but I still deserve a "howdy, how can I help you" from pretty young beer-tenders. They do have some decent craft selections on tap (but the beer-tender won't tell you about them and the logos on them taps are hard to see in the dark). read more

An honest-to-God fun dive bar in Downtown Dover... who knew it could happen?? You'll see townies, you'll see DSU kids, you'll see Wesley football players, you'll see Delaware state legislators... and you'll see them all in various states of sobriety, because no one comes here to discuss philosophy or art. Shut up, grab a drink, and hit on a girl. If you're a girl, be prepared to be hit on. Decorum isn't really a strong suit around here. Drinks are cheap, strong, and are helpful in reminding you that though you are in Dover, it could be worse... you could be 3 hours from civilization instead of 45 minutes. Delaware is an interesting place for many reasons, but this bar could be dropped in a lot of towns still be a fun joint. In Dover, it's a damn Godsend. A mandatory stop on any Dover bar crawl, and most likely the highlight of such a sojourn. Check it out! read more

They were still smoking in this place the summer of 2005, and the smoking ban started in Delaware in 2002... Great times the few times we've been. The crowd is kinda sketchy, but drinks are fairly cheap, and they have beer pong! The dartboard in the corner is somewhat treacherous for passersby going to and from the back area. Cool dive bar. There was an empty pool table and large sized draft beers with a decent selection. Me and 3 close friends - all ladies - we had a great time. No harassment or ill treatment whatsoever. Friendly folks and good beer. If you love shooting stick in dive bars, you would love this place. read more

If any bar in Dover needs to be on the show Bar Rescue, its this dump. Went here with my Fiancée during a holiday festival back in December and it was a disaster. You would think that during a festival they would be busy but there was one other patron who was being way overserved. I ordered a Guinness because who doesn't love a Guinness from an Irish bar, it was the worst Guinness I've ever had. The bartender working was nice but payed more attention to the one other patron. Not to mention no kitchen and the bar smelled of mold. We paid for the drinks and quickly left. Don't waste your time and money here. The bartender working got the one star read more

Wow, I've been to plenty of dives in my life, and I usually feel at home in them. This was not one of those places. The people were depressing and drunk (at 8:00 on a Saturday night). The young male drunken testosterone was over flowing and the place smelled like piss, old beer, and mold. Skip this place and try the Golden Fleece across the street... I went for drinks on a Friday evening with a friend just after happy hour. Drinks were fairly priced and it was quiet enough for my friend and I to have a conversation. Although the atmosphere was not very fun or charming, it served as a good spot to hang out with friends, drink, and watch games if you're into that. I also like that you don't have to pay for parking after 5pm. read more

This bar has it's chill days and then days where it gets crazy. Most of the locals love this place and the drink prices are not bad. However it is a very old bar and pretty small especially when it's jam packed on weekends. The bathrooms are awkward and they have pool tables, but if you don't get there early people take them over. All in all it's ok I occasionally go to see friends, but I rather go elsewhere. read more

was out of town, found this place looking for pool, drinks were unimpressive, took way too long to stand at the bar waiting for the one bartender to pass us half a dozen times, making eye contact but couldnt even say ill be with you in a second, or something. the tables are shit, the security guy has definitely let the title go to his head (we left shortyl after he made advances on my date, and then some prick comments about cue balls being different sizes, they're not, we actually checked.) So if you feel like shitty service, crappy tables and a heavy aroma of urine, this might be the place for you, dont worry I wont be in your way. read more

The same thing that happened to Lexi happened to me and a group of my Co workers. We stopped at irish mikes to start the night off. 6 of us total in the group that went out. It was about 10 or so and we all had about two beers each. The music kinda messed up so we decided to check the Fleece out and see who was there. We came back to Mikes around 1130. Music was going and everyone was having a great time. 4 of us continued to get drinks while the remaining 2 didn't because they were our DD. Shortly after ordering our drinks Dan the "head of security" tells our 2 friends they have to order drinks or get out. What kinda business plan is that to try and bully people in to buying things at your establishment. Needless to say we left and went to the Golden Fleece. So while trying to force 2 people to buy drinks you lost 4 people who were giving your business money. My Co workers and I are extremely professional people and we were treated like scum by this employee. read more
